Please welcome sheepadoodle Hank to The Ethical dog, an absolute gem of a dog, it was a big old job and he was patient throughout…well until it was photo time ☺️ as you can see he’s a big boy almost filling the floor of my room!

I feel extremely honoured to receive messages of your beloved pets passing on, whilst they are sad and I remember every one, I do fondly think of our time spent together, including you as their family.

Day 3

Our last day and we visited the royal crescent and the parks, lunch was divine and then back to the river to catch a boat 🚤 but not before a few drinks and pudding 😋
We both really enjoyed Bath, but we made the most of it and did almost everything we wanted👩‍👦

Day 2

Sooo hot 🥵 I wanted to jump into the river Avon! Lots of walking by the water, lots of delicious food 🍱 Bath Rugby 🏉 bus tours 🚌 best friends and book shops that dreams are made of 😃 as many times as I’ve been to bath, it always seems prettier with each visit 🫶🏻

Nice chilled drive down, visit to our favourite Gloucestershire services/ farm shop 🛒
Hotel is beaut, a little luxury for a change 🫶🏻 then walkabout - Abbey, The circus, late night in The Roman Baths and dinner before bed 🛌

Our weekly sessions with Otis are still going well and we have paws 🐾 in the bath! 👏🏻 he’s now coming right by me and resting against me too, just a bit wary that if he gets in the bath, how will he exit? so we will continue to show him that he won’t be trapped in there and can come and go as he pleases 🐶 building his confidence as we go 🫶🏻

Meet Lizzie, isn’t she adorable 🥰

Lizzie is an extremely nervous little girl, so has visited us once with mum and then again with mum, but the second time we had a little bath, towel dry, brush through and chin trim, she did ever so well 👏🏻 mum is staying at the grooms and we plan to add a little more to the groom with each visit, hopefully being able to add a teeth clean too 🤞🏻

Yesterday Our lovely Moss came by for a full groom and teeth clean, what a handsome boy he is and now with a full set of pearlies! ✨

We will have a few new faces over the coming weeks, as we help out a fellow groomer who is recovering from a nasty accident ❤️‍🩹
On Monday we welcomed Izzy the labradoodle and what a lovely dog to groom, such a sweet nature 💖

Peggy and Hetty came in recently for a teeth clean 🪥

Peggy has been before, she has a few wobbly teeth, so we removed what tartar we could on these teeth without compromising 🦷
It was Hetty’s first visit, but she did amazingly, opening her mouth fully for me (this is a first!😃) which made it really easy to get a really thorough clean of those teeth 🫶🏻

We were up super super early this morning, because I wanted to give Hugo a little bath and dry for his newly married mum and Dad 💒

Cosby yarn bomb 2024 🧶

Two days ago, this years yarn bomb started to appear around the village of Cosby in Leicestershire - it never disappoints! 😍

Last night Thomas, Hugo and I followed the yarn bomb trail for their evening walk, we were out a lot longer than anticipated 🗺️ 🐩 🐕 🚶🏻‍♀️

I’m so happy in this wonderful, cheerful community, it’s our first year living here whilst the yarn bombs on, people tell me I’ll have had enough by the end of it, but it’s a joy to see people appreciating the hard work of the yarn bombers, smiley faces everywhere and lots of friendly chat as you walk around the village, not to mention how it supports the small businesses here 🫶🏻

A big welcome to this gorgeous older gentleman Otis, to The Ethical Dog 😍

Otis has been very unwell and from his experiences, is now extremely anxious about touch, even from his owners. So grooming is also a really big challenge.

We have so far done a meet and greet and this was his second visit of an hour, where we introduced him to the groom room, sounds, smells, sights and of course me! 😃

I have a little video to share with you later on the work we are doing with Otis and his mum who is working hard with Otis at home 🏠

What a lovely day today has been, three lovely dogs, all with happy waggy tails 🐶❤️🥰

Last week Albi had his first full groom 😍you might remember Albi from a couple of weeks ago, where he had an introductory bath and dry 🛁 Albi had been struggling with grooming, but I’m happy to tell you that with a longer appointment, a slow paced groom and taking my time over the areas he struggles with, he happily managed a whole groom 👏🏻
This is really positive, as I’m sure as Albi comes for a regular groom, he will steadily learn exactly what’s expected of him, that there’s nothing horrible going to happen and actually we can have a little bit of fun, because he does like to play! 😃

I have had the nicest,cuddliest, Monday morning 🥰 please join me in welcoming cloud to The Ethical Dog 🐩

Little cloud was adopted from , who had rescued her from the Chinese meat trade 😢 she is the very sweetest, gentle soul ❤️ she is blind and almost deaf but that doesn’t stop her 💨 her mum was telling me about the big walks she likes to do and as for grooming, well she was an absolute treasure and took it all in her stride ✂️

Celebrating Caroline will be held on Friday 12th July 2024 1pm at Countesthorpe Crematorium.
Some of Caroline’s friends and locals plan to line the streets with our dogs 🐾 to give Caroline the send off from Cosby that she well and truly deserves ❤️
The dogs will NOT be welcome if it is a warm day…… as we all know what Caroline would say about that! 🤣☀️

On yesterdays post I told you i was off to work with a dog at our local rescue 🐩

As local groomers there’s a team of us who offer our time when we can to helping out dogs at the rescue with their grooming and yesterday was a real team effort 🫶🏻 I started with lovely Peggy a Cypriot, poodle mix, bitch 🥰 three very dirty baths later and dread locks snipped away ✂️ we began drying, the hairdryer really worried her, so we did a lot of towel drying, before clipping out a lot of the matting, she’d had enough at this point, so we came off the table for play and cuddles until the two other ladies arrived who finished off her groom, whilst I did my shopping 🛒 and walked my boy 🐶

Peggy is the sweetest soul and is already on the rescues website, ready to be re homed 😃 if your looking for a sweet, gentle character with lots of personality and love to give, this could well be your girl 😍

There’s so much power in not voting and yet we are led to believe from the earliest age that that equates to laziness, ignorance, stupidity and entitlement and is viewed with scorn, by the very people that exist only because we vote.

Whilst I’ve viewed people today, try to tactical vote, fear others votes, fight and argue and become tribal over a colour. I ask you, has it ever been different whomever got in?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

I’m going to use my energy today in helping something real, a dog down at our local rescue, can’t wait to tell you about it 🫶🏻

A groom and reiki for Sprocket recently 🤲🏻🛁it’s been great to see her begin to really interact with crystals on her last two reiki sessions and reiki after her groom was particularly helpful, as I’m actively working with Sprocket on her grooms, as she doesn’t love grooming ✂️ but we have a regular routine that over time has built a trust between us, where sprocket knows exactly what will happen throughout her groom with me. As the weather was getting warmer ⛅️ we tried going a little shorter and this very slight change in feeling made Sprocket uncomfortable, such subtle changes can really make a difference to sensitive dogs 🐩 our next groom we will return to her usual length of coat clipping 🐾 thankfully a positive ending with reiki really helped settle Sprocket 🔮

Last week we welcomed Spaniel Ocean to The Ethical Dog 😍 what an absolute delight of a dog he is, constantly wagging tail, wants to be your best friend, extremely cuddly, it was lovely getting to know him 🥰

Ocean is struggling with the grooming process and although we managed to do a full groom on him, it was a lot for him to manage. I have made a plan with his mum to start right from the very basics, now that his coats been clipped we have the time to reintroduce grooming slowly and steadily, with a good solid routine that he can trust in 🙏🏻
