Today four of our Trail Hunt International Instructors joined me at HQ for our very first Games Day. Here the dogs picked which prize their handler got at the end of the trail. Well done to Jaxon & Suzanne JaxSum of Follow My Lead K9 Academy, Dash & Mel Taylor of @Mel Taylor Dog Training, Zeek & Angie Walden of Anchaz Dog Training and Matilda & Debbie Honychurch of Avonside Scentwork and Training Stratford upon Avon. If you want to bring Trail Hunt Games to your clients first jump on our Foundations Instructor course and then our Games course. #dog #dogtraining #scentwork #tracking #trailing

I canβt describe the feeling of watching a dog working! Anchaz Dog Training taking her clients through Trail Hunt International foundations plus class. Angie Walden #Dog #dogtraining #scentwork
Trail Hunt International foundations plus class by Anchaz Dog Training. All our Trail Hunt exercises are completely Dog centred and Dog led. The Dog learns fully about the game and the expectations without any influence from the handler. This is what makes a good Trail Hunt Dog. #dog #dogtraining #scentwork

π Distraction Odour in Level 2 Components Course. After the foundations in Trail Hunt we progress onto components. We have three levels of components each with nine components in. π What is a component? This is where we add something in to the trail which changes the odour picture or the visual picture for the dog. Each component has exercises to teach your dog how to navigate the odour or visual picture presented to them. So that they know what to do when that component presents itself in a trail.π Why do these exercises?Trail Hunt is centred around being βDog ledβ meaning that we teach our dogs to work the odour and the trail independently without influence from us, the handler. If we just put the component in the trail without explaining to our dogs what to do then more than likely we would need to step in to lead the dog to make the desired decision. If we break the component down into small parts and teach our dogs what we want them to do then they understand each odour picture we present them in a trail and Trail independently and honestly.π Your instructors are fully equipped to take you through all the exercises to teach your dog about these components so you can be sure your dog is trailing and working the odour pictures out for themselves. π Hereβs a video of Koios working an intermediate trail with a distraction odour. The orange post is where the distraction odour goes in one direction and his Trail odour goes in the other. Due to teaching him about this component he is able to work out what he needs to do when he comes across this odour picture in the trail. π To join us and start your dog Trail Hunting please get in touch to find your nearest instructor.π To bring Trail Hunt to your clients please get in touch about our instructor course. #dog #DogTraining #tracking #mantrailing #scentwork #trailhunt #trailing
