KCP Equestrian Family yard producing horses in both Showjumping and Eventing. We work together as a family producing horses for both Eventing and Showjumping.

Tricia who is the backbone of KCP Equestrian, has years of experience producing horses in the eventing sphere up to 5* level and currently has horses from homebred foals to her top horse who is at advanced/ 5* level. Claire now just has the one horse she has produced up the grades herself and is at 3* level. Katie Showjumps and was part of the Step Up To Gold Programme 2017. She has horses ranging

from ones jumping upto 1.40 level with the aim of jumping Area Trials and World Ranking Classes by the end of 2021 to just broken ones. We also have a small breeding programme.

It’s been a week of good news for our broodmares.
Pepsi(El Salvador x same dam line as Chaman) scanning in foal with a heartbeat to Contagio(Carthago x Cassini)
Followed by the arrival of our Tangelo foal late Thursday evening out of our campion du lys x high valley Z mare.

Thank you Oakham Veterinary Hospital Equine for both getting Pepsi in foal at the first time of trying and the safe delivery of our new little one

It’s been great to be back out at shows.
Yesterday we headed to Arena UK
I took Conker & Boo for the clear round where they both jumped great & clear.
Kaya was a little star double clear to be 7th in the 1.05 & double clear to be 5th in the
Newcomers.
Crispie was a naughty monster, I thought I would just give him a nice pop round the 1.20 for his first outing back but he had other ideas 🙈 luckily he has redeemed himself today at Vale View jumping double clear to finish 2nd in the 1.30!
I also took Conker & Boo again today to Vale for the clear round where they both jumped lovely clears!

Thank you to our team, owners & sponsors both throughout lockdown and now we are back up and running again.

Looking forwards to the rest of the summer producing a team of lovely young horses.

With the big recent surge for trying hoods on horses and the affects they have on more difficult ones I spoke to Jayne Flook at Belvoir Equine Supplements and Laser Therapy LTD and asked her if she had any information on them. From there I have been using the Catago Fir Tech hood on a mare that tosses her head a lot whilst being ridden and the difference is huge. Here is a little clip of her in the hood. These hood are also really great value at £35 and can be bought through Jayne from Belvoir Equine.

We are on the look out for a groom, the job will include all yard duties at home, as well as the chance to go to shows. Great working environment and lovely facilities. This is not a riding job and unfortunately at this time no ability to bring own horse. Car driver essential as no accommodation. Good rate of pay. 5 days a week in total and weekend work included

Lunging Day - When each horse should be treated individually as they all have different areas of weakness which need to be strengthened in different ways.

We use a variety of different techniques and different lunging aids.
Here are 8 horses 7 of them being lunged differently whether it be how the lunge line is attached or the way the lunging aid is positioned or just a different type of lunging aid.

It maybe the last show of 2020 & the last show for a while with going back into tier 4 but it was great to have little Kaya back at a show after her winter holiday. A win at the training show on Monday & 6th in the 1.05 today at the BS Show.

The cheekiest little homebred 4 year old who has had to be a fighter from day one of life, is now jumping his first courses out training and making us all smile 😊

Cholmondeley Castle Showjumping

Great to have another day out Eventing on Monday. The Intermediate horses were on good form at Cholmondeley Castle with both Tricia and Chip and Claire and Vivienne jumping double clears.

Busy day with lorries going in different directions Claire & Tricia headed to Emilie Chandler Low Woods Farm for Claire to have a lesson & Tricia to use her new canter circle with Chip. Katie & Shannon headed to Hyde Lodge for their training show and a good day with no poles down! 😊 Shannon & Fabio in the 1m as they haven’t been anywhere recently but jumped a lovely foot perfect round. Katie also rode Kaya in the 1m.
