Every year, we care for around 300 cats and dogs who are lost, abandoned, neglected, unwanted or given up because their owners can no longer care for them. If you would like to adopt a cat or dog, our current animals for adoption, and more information on the process, is available on our website. We rely on the generosity of our supporters and local community to keep our doors open to the hundreds

of animals who need our help. You can find out about the different ways to support us in the 'Get Involved' section on our website. Today is – a whole day dedicated to celebrating the joy that animals bring into our lives. 🐱🐶🐾

Our pets become cherished family members and are there for us no matter what, giving unconditional love and friendship. As well as giving us an excuse to spoil our pets even more, Love your Pet Day also raises awareness of responsible pet ownership.

A local Tesco manager, Scott Draycott, will be lining up to run the London Marathon to raise funds for L.A.A. 🐶🐱

Scott, a big animal lover, has adopted dogs from us in the past and luckily, he saw our name in the list of charities looking for a runner.

His fundraising has started off really well and we’d like to say a big thank you to Scott, and all the staff and customers of supporting Tesco stores, for making a difference.

⭐It's time to meet L.A.A.'s stars of the month! ⭐

Volunteer Star of the month is Jo Sewell. ⭐ Jo, who has been with the Charity for almost three years, comes to sit with the dogs once a week. They love having her around and are very responsive to her calming energy.

Jo has lots of patience and has spent time with lots of dogs that need their confidence building. She has been working with Betty, a 15-month-old Pug cross, who wasn’t used to human interaction and is very excitable. Jo has helped Betty to be more comfortable around people and has been rewarded with her settling down for some cuddles! Jo is a valued member of the team, and we really appreciate everything she does for our residents.

Staff Star of the month is Jess Brandreth, a member of the Cattery Team and currently our Cattery Supervisor, covering maternity leave. ⭐

Jess is so caring and always keeps clam during stressful situations. She has so much love for the cats and is committed to meeting each resident’s individual needs. Nothing is too much trouble for her, and she approaches everything with a positive attitude. The loyal and dedicated team of volunteers always praise Jess for her hard work and commitment.

A rose for a rose! Our lovely Pocket Bully Olive is fun-loving and quirky. The way she c***s her head when she spots a friend is pretty sweet too. Olive needs a home with a nice, big secure garden where she can play with her toys, get used to some new sights and smells and settle in at her own pace. Someone's made themselves right at home! 😻

We're so happy that Branch has found the pawfect pad after spending three months with us in the Cattery. When he first arrived he was quite poorly with a food intolerance.

He's been with his family a few days now and he settled in from the moment he arrived. We hear he's having lots of fun playing with his toys and sprinting up and down the stairs! 🥰🐱

Our amazing volunteers are looking forward to welcoming you to L.A.A.'s Coffee Shop & Sale this Saturday (1st February).

Come along to our Centre in Huncote between 10am and 1pm and we're sure you'll find plenty of bargains! There will be clothes, toys, bric-a-brac, linens, in fact you think of something and we'll usually have it!

Once you've done all that shopping, you can sit down, have a natter, a cuppa and a bite to eat. 🍰☕ You can bring your four-legged friend too, they will be made very welcome. 🐾🐾

Events like these really do make a huge difference to our animals like Olive, who is patiently waiting for her forever family to come along. We do hope you can come and support us. 🐶🐱

Jess in our Cattery is a massive fan of Staying Relevant podcast so it was no surprise that these two adorable kittens were named after the stars of the show - Sam and Pete! 🐱🐱

They thought it was pawsome that they got a shoutout on the podcast from their namesakes - Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks - after Jess got in touch. 😻

These little chaps have a meet and greet booked so hopefully they will be going to their forever home very soon. 🤞

Thanks to our longstanding partners, Mars Petcare, our training barn now has a lovely soft, sandy floor! 🐾🐾

The new floor is just one of a number of improvements we’ve been able to make to the site to enrich the lives of our dogs with a kind donation from Mars Petcare.

The barn is used by kennel staff to exercise, train and share quality time with our residents. The hard floor meant that some dogs were unable to enjoy the barn, but now it’s like a beach which is much gentler on paws! 🐶

As our first Dog Adoption event in March is now fully booked, we've put on another event in April for those that may have missed out. Numbers are limited so that the dogs don't get overwhelmed.

We’re holding a special Dog Adoption event on Sunday, 27th April, 10 am - 11:30 am, and handsome boy Scout and his friends would love to see you there! 🐶🐶

Whether you're thinking of adopting a dog now or in the future, you are welcome. The event will take place at our site in Huncote in our newly-refurbished training barn. Potential adopters will be able to see the dogs in a relaxed setting and staff, who know and love the dogs will be on hand to answer questions. 🐶🐶

One video can say so much... Benji our 1 year old has struggled with kennel life since being with us and some may see a dog having a massage, but for Benji this is a milestone. It shows trust, love, kindness and the close relationship he has with his kennel mum 🥰. Benji has always suffered with anxiety around new situations, coming across as highly strung and vocal. Struggling to find peace and relaxation is a very common thing for Rescue dogs as they are constantly on alert and unable to manage so much stimuli. Well done Benji and Holly (his kennel mum for supporting Benji whilst he is in search of his new home). Time, patience and listening to your dogs needs does pay off and make a huge benefit on their welfare!🥲🥰

Our lovely Sebastian has been looking for a home since June. At just 2 years old, he's playful, in great condition and looking for a special human to build a bond with. Sebastian loves to play and enjoys a fuss now and then. Sebastian is quite an independent boy and he will go off and play by himself, but he also does love a good game of chase with a feather wand toy too! He tends to prefer women but he is now comfortable with one of our male volunteers, and with careful introduction (and plenty of treats along the way!) we think he could happily live in a home with an experienced male owner. Sebastian is very food-orientated and loves his treats. Being quite a big lad, access to outside would be great. But as he is not yet used to the great outdoors, a rural location away from busy roads is needed.
