A whopping 9 years ago today I opened the doors to Pups Parlour. Hoping I’d last at least 9 months! And here we are, nearly a decade later 🫣 I can’t believe how much that time has flown by, how much the salon has evolved and improved over the years, and how much I have learned!

Hi all! 👋

You might have noticed I’ve been a bit quieter on here lately. I’ve decided to give my socials a bit of a replan with how I use them. As I felt that I was putting out lots of quick bits of work, instead of fewer, higher quality posts for you all to enjoy!

I’m not a social media manager, but as a self employed individual, you get thrown into this role, so I’m willing to give it a shot, and take longer into planning my posts, and getting more on the grid than the daily stories!

Please be aware that on the 1st February a £3 price increase will be coming in for all grooms and mini grooms to cover rising costs.

If you already have an appointment booked February onwards, I will have mentioned this upon booking.

Unfortunately with the rising costs of living and running the salon I have had to do a small price increase. I have swallowed up the cost of rising bills for over the last year to try and help everyone out, as I know we are finding it Abit of a squeeze, but can do so no longer. Thank you for all your support in helping me grow the salon, and I look forward to continuing to pamper the lovely pups that walk through my doors. Samantha

Unfortunately just before the new year we lost our little man Max. At 15 and a half, he spoilt us with so many years of love and laughter. He truly was man’s best friend, always picking the men to go and sit with! An absolute superstar that took everything in his stride. Run free little one, and go give your sister a hug from us ❤️🌈🐶

You might have noticed that I’ve been Abit quiet on here recently. With the sad loss of our little girl 🐶 prepping for my first Christmas fair, the busy Christmas period and tackling a kitchen renovation all at the same time 🔨 it’s been hard to find the drive to keep up with socials!

Hopefully you will be seeing more of me again as everything eases off!

Thank you all for your heartfelt messages today.

Unfortunately yesterday our little girl Pippin decided it was her time to time to leave us behind and cross the rainbow bridge. 🌈

14 years and a half years old, deaf and diabetic. She’s been through it all and it never got her down. I’ve never met such a resilient, stubborn and loving little dog. Never one to fail to let you know that it was her dinner time, or to leave her brother to patrol the garden alone.

You’ll be greatly missed little girl, and will always be my sidekick. ❤️🐶🐕❤️

- - A BIT ABOUT ME! - -

I realised it’s been a while since I shared Abit about me here on the ‘gram! So here we go…

My name is Samantha, and I’ll be turning the big 3-0 next year. 😬

I’ve had a love of animals all my life. At school it wasn’t a case of what I was going to do for a living, it was just a case of picking which animal i wanted a career with! 🐶

I started learning animal management in 2011, and followed this straight on with training to be a qualified groomer, I was fortunate enough to pass all my exams with flying colours, and open my very own grooming salon back in 2015. 🗓️

Here I am 8 years later, in a sparkling new salon, with a thriving business, full of the best customers - and I couldn’t have asked for better! ❤️

In my spare time I love going out on a good hike, so long as I am not tearing the house apart on my latest DIY project! There is something about making something from nothing that I absolutely love. 🔨 I am also partial to a good bright hair dye which can make me easy to spot when I’m walking around the estate 😂

Many of you may have seen my other half Tom busying about, and have definitely seen/ heard our corgi Forrest causing chaos wherever he goes! 🐶

I am fortunate enough to live on an estate with a real sense of community around myself and the business, and can’t thank you all enough for your support over the years. Here is hoping to many more happy years!

How beautiful to see Tilly settling into the salon so well, I was fortunate enough to groom her big brother Obi for many years, so it’s lovely to continue to work with a family and there new addition to the household.

Teaching your puppy how to be brushed. - Allow your puppy to smell the brush you will be using before hand - Show them that you have a treat, and get them to stand facing the direction you would like them - gently brush along the back and sides of the body. (Don’t push for the legs straight away, wait until your puppy is comfortable with their body first) - allow them to lick the treat whilst being brushed. - when you have finished brushing, allow them to smell the brush again, it will now smell of them! - treat and reward! - do small brushing sessions daily and build it up over time. Pups Parlour is a professional dog grooming service that specialises in small and nervous dogs run by Samantha in the heart of Mountsorrel.

Working one-to-one with your pup allows them to get all the care and attention that they deserve. The parlour promotes a calm and relaxing atmosphere for all dogs that come in, allowing them to be pampered to the highest standard by a skilled professional.

My Story - Your Groomer

My name is Samantha Bettany, before opening the parlour 3 years ago, I started out by getting my Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management achieving a grade of triple distinction*.
