" 2024 Body Protector Rule Changes "
From 1st January 2024, the BETA 2009 safety certifcate will no longer be permitted for use at British Eventing Official, British Riding Clubs and The Pony Club. This means that the BETA 2018 standard will be required when riding at any event run under these organisations.
Although Riding School establishments do not have to follow this rule for the moment, we are advising that children & adults consider wearing a body protector that fits well.
A body protector is designed to absorb the impact from a fall or kick from a horse and can make a young rider feel more confident. They are not essential for typical riding lessons, but many parents opt for their children to wear one.
Just like with hats, a body protector needs to be fitted and should have blue (2018) BETA label to be in standard.
We are happy for people to wear the purple (2009) standard until advised otherwise, most body protectors are lightweight, well-ventilated and flexible so that the rider doesn’t feel hindered and is comfortable on and off the horse,
Please also note the hat rules that are compulsory for all riders at Lowton Riding Centre.
