Such a lovely week we've had π
Love how they form strong friendships. I love dogs playing with the same friends π₯°π₯°
I know we've been a bit quiet on here, we've been very busy! Heres our spring so far π₯°π₯°π₯° enjoying beautiful dogs having fun
So in the last 3 weeks I've had a dog attacked by an off lead dog (I had to deal with the situation grabbing the dog off putting myself at risk not the other professional dog walker) and yesterday we were charged at by a lurcher multiple times while riding out horses.
The video here is a clip from years ago, thankfully no harm was done, and I had someone on the ground to help should I need it and the dog was more barky than full on aggressive in this clip, I was much less concerned that this dog was going to attack but yesterdays dog was definitely so over stimulated he had a completly different feeling about him. The dogs owner in the clip here was not in a rush to help, he apologised but I don't believe he would change his ways. The dog owner yesterday absolutely won't change anything as he didn't care about anyone not even his dog π’.
Unfortunately there seems to be an issue with people thinking dogs need to be off lead at all times to enjoy themselves, but that can be at the expense of others if the dog isn't trained well enough. Anyone who knows me will know it's rare I put meadow on lead, because she's absolutely mega with her recall and can walk to heel past distractions and anyone who has that level of control of Thier dog has earnt the right to have them off alot. Now nutmeg isn't quite as well trained as meadow so she gets her lead on for some things though I'm 90 percent sure she can deal with it all I'm it's often safer and easier for me to have that safety net.
My work dogs all have variable recall and as I get to know them I learn about their abilities. Have I always made the perfect and right call with them, no I am not perfect and no dog is perfect. And probably about once a year one of my dogs will inconvenience someone else, out of the hundreds of walks I do with off lead time my rate is super low! And I've never had a major incident my handling has caused thank goodness. I of course have profusely apologised if any of my dogs have gone int
So I got up at 5:30am thismorning, half hour earlier than my usual, knowing I had a busy day ahead as mum was off today. Super prepared with food and snacks for me and doggos.
Meadow enjoyed a little farm run here at 7am then we left the yard at 7:30am only to finally start our first walk at 9:30am.
Thank you to the hindley group who were super helpful about me needing to cancel. I will never let people down but massively appreciate when people can manage without me if they are home when things like this happen. Reckon I'd still be walking now had I not cancelled.
Once I've warmed up with a cup of tea I'll be re checking over tomorrow's diary to see if I can foresee any potential delays π¬
Wednesday to Fridays videos π₯°
Some of this week's walks earlier part of the week π₯°
What's everyone been up to in the sprinkling of snow today π. We had a lovely morning with ponies and dogs π₯°. I'm very aware how lucky I am π₯° they are what I work hard for π
A very cold icey day today trying to find suitable ground for dogs to be free was hard, trying to navigate hills with dogs on lead was comical π they are definitely better in the ice than I am ππ
Gorgeous walks in the sunshine today, my first walk was Bey Effie Bobble and Meadow ππ
2 super peaceful Sunday walks π₯°π₯°
Walk 1 Rolo Percy and meadow
Walk 2 Bey Effie and Seb
Weekend walks often available and able to be requested in advance for our regular weekday customers π₯°π₯° though I do sometimes set weekend days aside for no walks, id like to say to rest but it's usually to ride my ponies π
The dog walking life since 2010 π₯°π₯° the best decision I've ever made π I started with a pair of wellies that soon got holes in and had to scrape enough money together to buy another cheap pair π. My initial enquiries were all solos and not suitable for groups. I'm very proud of where we are today and made up with all the wonderful dogs that are in our lives π₯°
Friday sunshine π₯°π₯°ππ rolo, bey, Effie, bobble, meadow, poppy
Such a lovely day π₯°π₯° .. started with training with my girls meadow and nutmeg, then a walk with puppy bobble and penny (very lovely behaviour from both), followed by a really fun enclosed field walk with Effie, bey, penny, rolo, Rosie, meg and meadow ππ. Finishing off the day with a lush paired walk with Percy and Roxy. What a fabulous Wednesday.
Tuesdays enclosed field group ππ
Bobble meg meadow and ruby this afternoon π₯°π₯° bobble was really good working out who the best play buddy would be and being polite with the other girls. Meg was also a super star toning down play to make it appropriate for bobble π₯°π₯° good job girls πͺ
Me almost getting pulled down the rucks today π€£π€£
Just the cutest π super pleased for bobble to come along on her first little group walk today. Meadow doing what meadow just best and teaching puppies a green and red light for play π₯° I absolutely love this girl she's so lovely and clear in her body language and bobble did respond really well π₯°
