Rosie's Grooming Room - Yarpole, Leominster & Ludlow

Rosie's Grooming Room - Yarpole, Leominster & Ludlow Dog Grooming for the discerning dog owner in Leominster & Ludlow I have also completed an OCN Level 3 accredited animal first aid course.

About Me:
Hello I'm AJ, after many years of working in both boarding kennels & grooming salons I decided to open my own grooming salon in 2012. Rosie's Grooming Room is a small salon run from my home in Yarpole, on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border. I pride myself on providing a kind and caring service where the welfare of your dog always comes first. I am professionally trained and hold my City

& Guilds Level 3 Diploma for Professional Dog Stylists and I am an International Certified Master Groomer. I have a commitment to Continued Professional Development and update my training regularly, attending seminars both to learn new skills and keep up to date with modern techniques. Dogs are groomed on an individual basis to help ensure the minimum of stress for your dog during their visit. My priority is always to treat all dogs with kindness and respect. Dogs can be groomed either to breed standard or to suit the individual requirements of the client. A free consultation is offered to all new clients, as I believe it is more important to provide a service the client is happy with, rather than what the groomer thinks is right. All dogs are health checked before the groom commences and any concerns discussed with you. I will talk through your exact requirements, taking into account the dog's lifestyle, skin condition, health and current condition of coat before a style is chosen. As a member of International Professional Groomers & the British Isles Grooming Association I subscribe to a strict code of ethics. I am fully insured for all dogs in my care. Please call me with any questions you have or to make an appointment

Thank you once again to everyone who has given so generously throughout the year to help dogs rescued from puppy farms.

The final total donated this year to Schnauzerfest is £1060! This is an amazing total and I cannot thank you enough. Rescues are in dire need and every penny really does make a difference.

Thank you also for supporting me with your custom this year, as always, I feel very privileged that you trust me caring for your dogs. I truly have the best job 🥰

We did it 👏🎉
£1000 raised for Schnauzerfest this year 🧡

Once all my tips and donations from clients were totted up the total came to £940 so Mara (Mookie, Mad Myrtle and Mara ) decided she would add a little extra from her pocket money to help other dogs like her have a chance for a better life 🧡

I can't thank you all enough, this is a fabulous amount for such a small group of us to raise and will make a huge difference to help the already struggling rescues pay their veterinary bills 🧡

Here's to 2023 and helping more dogs in need 🧡

Thank you, thank you, thank you 🥰

We Smashed It 👏

This year we raised £869 for Schnauzerfest

Thank you everyone who left tips and gave donations throughout 2021. All tips have been donated to my Schnauzerfest collection 🧡

Schnauzerfest Grants out to rescues they work with. Schnauzerfest prioritise working with rescues which care for dogs taken from the breeding industry (including puppy farms) as well as schnauzers.

This money will go directly to pay veterinary bills for dogs coming into rescue mainly from puppy farms. These dogs have suffered years of neglect and often the veterinary treatment required is extensive. Thank you for helping give these dogs a chance to have the life they should have always had.

Dogs helped by Schnauzerfest have their stories told on the website where there is also important educational material. Please do take a moment to read:

This year, once again, I have decided rather than giving Christmas gifts to my canine clients, I have instead sent a parcel of treats to Hope Rescue
Hope are a fantastic rescue who not only do amazing work caring for the dogs coming into their care but also in campaigning for Animal Welfare. Please do look at their website to see the incredible work they do.

I am also still running my Just Giving page in aid of Schnauzerfest
Schnauzerfest are another amazing charity that give grants to cover the veterinary bills of dogs (not just Schnauzers) brought into rescue – many rescued from the horrors of puppy farms. Thanks to your generous donations throughout this year I am close to reaching my target – I will update you on this at the end of the year! If you would like to give a donation directly to my page it would be gratefully received! You can do so here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rosiesgrooming2021

I hope that if we can all continue to educate others about puppy farming then one day we may be able to end this cruel trade.

Thank you all for your support 🧡

Closed for Christmas 🎄
Thank you all so much for your support through what has been such a difficult year for us all.
Thank you for your patience when I was closed during lockdown and for all the changes that had to be made.
But most of all, thank you all so much for your immense generosity in such very difficult times. I am so delighted to announce that between us, with your donations and some personal donations, this year We have raised £1000 for Schnauzerfest

I'll just say that again....

We have raised £1000 🎉🤩👏

That's £1000 that will help pay the veterinary fees and transform the lives of dogs rescued from the horrific conditions of puppy farms.

I am so very grateful to you all for your kindness and feel somewhat overwhelmed. I would also like to thank all those who donated a gift to Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue and RSPCA Herefordshire Branch via Leominster Pet Centre and Emma's Dog House

So a very Merry Christmas to you all, take care, stay safe and let's look forward to a brighter 2021 😘

Today is Small Business Saturday and what a year it’s been for small business! I know a lot of people have struggled this year so I thought I’d give a shout out to some of my favourite, small local businesses. Please take a few minutes to check them out 😊

Christmas presents 🎁🎄

As you know I normally give out little Christmas parcels to all of my canine clients with some lovely, crunchy fishy snacks 😊 This year, I have decided instead to donate the amount of treats I would normally use for the Christmas presents (2kg!) to the dogs at Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue and RSPCA Herefordshire Branch via the collection at Leominster Pet Centre. Both of these rescues are self-funded and animal rescue charities have not received any Government funding during the pandemic.

I am quite confident that all of my lovely canine clients are well loved and get plenty of treats from their families throughout the year as well as at Christmas. I am sure they would be happy to donate their gifts to those dogs who really need them and do not have a loving family to care for them. Of course, there will still be plenty of treats in the salon as normal.

If you are passing Leominster Pet Centre, please do consider popping in and making a little donation of your own, the attached flyer has some good ideas. I am also still collecting donations for the charity Schnauzerfest who pay the veterinary treatment of dogs rescued from puppy farms and help educate about this terrible trade.

Thank you to Emma from Emma's Dog House for arranging this initiative 💖

Once again, I really do appreciate the support you have all shown me throughout this year, which has certainly been a difficult one for us all!

WHERE IS THE FUNDING FOR ANIMAL WELFARE?

We were shocked to read today that the U.K. Government has awarded £1m of emergency funding to the Greyhound Board of Great Britain for cruel greyhound racing. Yet they have still not awarded hard working and overstretched animal welfare charities any dedicated grant funding despite lobbying from the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes and the larger animal welfare charities.

The animal welfare sector has struggled to cope throughout the Covid crisis as our income disappeared from our fundraising events and charity shops. We have worked hard as a sector to still provide critical care to stray, abandonded and homeless pets despite our financial worries. We've seen funding awarded to zoos and aquariums but we were overlooked. This latest funding award to the greyhound industry - an industry that the animal welfare sector repeatedly picks up the pieces from at a huge emotional and financial cost - is yet another kick in the teeth.

If you agree that the animal welfare sector should get dedicated emergency funding please sign this petition from our good friends at the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT)

This wonderful initiative has been set up by my friend Emma's Dog House
It would be lovely, if you are able, to buy a gift for a dog in need at one of these 2 local self funded rescues.
Just pop into Leominster Pet Centre to buy something to add to their collection or you can even just give them a call to donate. Let's spread a little love and kindness 😘

Just one of the many reasons I support Schnauzerfest and am so happy to pass on tips and donations from clients.
Every single dog matters and their story is told. They are no longer just 'stock' and money making machines but individual sentient beings each with their own character and free to express themselves as every dog should 💕

Schnauzerfest was founded by Janetta, a writer whose work honours the lives of dogs saved from terrible lives.

When your donations help a dog, helps to transform their life, we like you to know about it. Not only so that you can see where your money goes, but so that the dog is honoured, their courage and character celebrated. It's one of the most rewarding sides of Schnauzerfest's work; putting into the public record the lives we get to honour and support. Lives which really begin when a rescue finds them.

As a registered charity we're obliged to account for every penny - we have a simple grant making process with very few conditions. One of them is that we will tell the stories of the dogs who benefit from the money we give to a rescue.

We think every Schnauzerfest supporter values and understands how important this side of our work is and why we have this simple condition.

Schnauzerfest honours the dogs.

Important update from Leominster Pet Centre

This Friday is likely to be the last delivery to Yarpole so get your orders in!

UPDATE 🚚🐾

We want to thank to all of our existing and new customers who have supported us and kept us busy in these tough times.

We are now reverting back to our original opening hours 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday which started this week.
As the shop is now becoming busier and travel has been made slightly easier, we are now reflecting on our delivery option. Due to the extended opening times we have less available time to deliver and are encouraging where possible for you to collect your order which will be with minimal contact and abiding by strict 2m distancing. We can help put items in your car if you have your boot open ready. At present the loading bay is vacant most of the day so collection is fairly easy.

We have a few delivery slots for people self-isolating or in the vulnerable categories.

We are happy for you to place your orders over the phone or at the door, whichever is the most convenient for you. We are still serving at the door currently as we feel this is the safest way for you and us. Due to shop floor space we would only be able to have one customer in at a time, which would then involve having a member of staff standing at the door policing this. So for now we feel we are working more effectively with our current procedure.

We are delivering to YARPOLE this Friday with the help of AJ of which may well be the last time. So if you are in need of any items please bear this in mind.

Once again T H A N K Y O U, from the bottom of our hearts .

We would also like to send much love to all the local small businesses who are sadly shut until restrictions are lifted, we have been thinking of you all

A long post, but important, so I would be grateful if you could read all the way through and give a ‘like’ so I know you have seen it. Thank you

I am also uploading copies of my T&C’s which you should all have signed previously and my risk assessment. By bringing your dog for grooming you are consenting to these terms and updated procedures.

STILL CLOSED

Like many other groomers, I am still waiting for a change in directive from the Government and Industry advisory bodies to allow me to re-open. Current guidelines make it clear that travelling to the groomers is unlikely to be considered an essential journey. Please be assured as soon as this information changes you will be the first to know!

While I am waiting to open again, I have been planning and preparing a number of new procedures that will be required for operating in as safe a manner as possible going forward. I am fully trained in infection control and cross contamination and already operate comprehensive hygiene practices but you will notice some changes, particularly in handover procedures.

The following will now be necessary:
1) You will no longer be able to come round to the salon entrance. There is a holding pen to the left hand side of the front of the house. Please wait for me to come out and meet you.
2) You will be asked to put your dog into the pen via the gate and remove all leads/harness, collar etc. Please use the hand sanitiser provided before opening the gate.
3) I will then collect your dog using my own slip lead which will be disinfected between each use with a DEFRA approved dog safe disinfectant. You will notice I will be wearing additional PPE as directed by the Canine & Feline Sector Group.
4) When you return to collect your dog, please wait in your car on the drive. I will return your dog into the holding pen when they are finished and spray with Leucillin (a dog safe antiseptic which has tested effective against Coronavirus). You will then be able to retrieve them using your own lead and collar, ideally these should be clean. Again, please use the hand sanitiser provided before opening the gate and ensure you adhere to social distancing.
5) Payments where possible will need to be made by BACS the day before your appointment. I will also be able to take contactless card payments but BACS in advance is the preferred method.
6) Future appointments will be made over the phone the day before or via email/message. I will not be handing out appointment cards.
7) I would politely request that you arrive at the given time for your appointment and to collect. I am allowing extra time between appointments to avoid any crossover and for additional cleaning but I need your help for this to work.
8) Initially I will only be seeing my existing clients, I anticipate it will be some time before I am able to take on any new clients.
9) Please don't be offended to find me wearing additional PPE
10) It is IMPERATIVE that when I contact you the day before your appointment you disclose whether you have been isolating or knowingly exposed to Coronavirus. If you need additional time to complete a 7 or 14 day isolation period please let me know so we can rearrange. I need to do everything I can to protect my clients and myself.

The extra steps I have to take with each dog mean I now have to use a new set of disposable gloves and apron for each dog. All waste from each appointment has to be bagged and sealed separately. Every lead I use has to be cleaned and sterilised after use. I have bought a large quantity of hand sanitiser for customer use. All of these measures, including the additional time for each appointment, incur extra cost. My ability to work will be dependent on being able to source the correct equipment.

There may be other things we have to add/alter as time goes on. This procedure has been put together following government guidelines and advice from PIF/BDGA, B**A, CFSG and the Groomers Spotlight.

I’m sure it will take us all a little while to get used to this new way of working and I am grateful for your patience and support through these difficult times.

Finally, if you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to raise them with me.

Hoping to see you all again soon x
