Just had a discussion with a potential customer about prices, they asked why it's so high £42 on reflection is it really that high?
This is just a quick approximation.
Shampoo £1
Cost of water £1
Cost of electricity to dry the dog £2
So that's £4 in costs just to bathe and dry the dog and leaves me with £38
This has taken me around 45 minutes.
Then there's the clipping and sc******ng which will take around 1 hour so all in all 1 hour 45 minutes of my time.
Then there's other costs like insurance say 50p per dog.
£37.50 left. Then there's 10% on costs for equipment, I mean I can't do this job without safe working equipment can I? £3.75, leaving £33.75
Then there's the dreaded taxman, 20% but you get the first £12,500 free so let's say 15% instead, that leaves £28.69.
So let's work out my wages, 28.69 divided by 1 hour 45 minutes equates to me, a skilled professional who trained for 2 years to do my job, earning approximately £16 per hour which works out at around £30,000 per year working full time. So yes whilst earning a decent wage, is it really EXTORTIONATE? Is it?
