Please be aware, if you bring a puppy into the practice, they may be taken away for cuddles 🐶

Example A - Abi promptly snuggled Piper the miniature dachshund into her fleece when her owners brought her in for her 2nd vaccination 💉

The smaller and cuter the puppy, may lengthen the time they are receiving cuddles from the girls 🙊

❄️ Antifreeze ❄️

With the recent cold weather it is safe to say a lot of us will have been reaching for the antifreeze! As useful as it is, please be reminded of the danger of antifreeze to pets, especially cats 🐈‍⬛

Cats are drawn to the smell and (apparently) sweet taste of antifreeze but unfortunately it is incredibly toxic to them and leads to acute renal failure ☠️

Symptoms can start half an hour post consumption but sometimes signs of kidney failure can take a couple of days to show 🐈

Some of the symptoms of antifreeze poisoning are:
❗️Lethargy/ depression
❗️Appearing ‘drunk’ and uncoordinated
❗️Vomiting
❗️Difficulty breathing
❗️Sudden seizuring

Clinical signs associated with renal failure include:
❗️Excessive thirst and urination
❗️Loss of appetite
❗️Vomiting
❗️Bad breath despite having good teeth
❗️Weight loss

The sooner treatment is administered the better so if you have any concerns it is always safest to get checked out 🩺

You really do live up to your name, small and cute 🥰

Nicely showing off her spay wound before we put her medical pet t-shirt on post op 🩺

These are a great alternative from the plastic buster collars to ensure patients don't lick at their wounds after surgery (although we do stock both!) 🐕‍🦺

Look at that lovely and fluffy blanket Dinky brought with her from home, perfect to snuggle in during her recovery ☺️

🎉 Puppy Parties 🎉

As mentioned previously, we put out the feelers to see how many of you would be interested in our very own puppy parties 🐶

We’ve had fantastic feedback and a few interested, which is great! Thank you for your support 💚

Our first puppy party date is going to be on Saturday 25th January 📆

The party will be a one hour session in the morning. Once booked on, we will contact you with your time slot, as we may offer two sessions depending on numbers 🦮

There is a small fee of £5 per puppy, which is non-refundable, and will be taken upon booking to secure your place 💰

We have already contacted those of you who were on our list. If you’re interested but haven’t heard from us, then please send us a message and we’ll get in touch next week ☺️

The puppy party will include;
🎉 Great socialisation for your puppy
🎉 Mock nurse consultation
🎉 It’ll be the perfect time for you to ask our nurses any questions you may have

With New Years Eve just around the corner, let’s think about our pets who may get frightened by the loud noise and flashing lights whilst everyone welcomes in the New Year 🐶🐱

How can we help our pets feel calmer on New Years Eve?
🎆Provide a safe and secure space for them to hide if they want to
🎇Play some background music/have the television on
🎆Leave a light on so they aren't in the dark if on their own
🎇More anxious pets might benefit from calming tablets/diffusers

From a safety perspective make sure that pets are kept away from fireworks to prevent accident or injury 🎆
