🎉📢 Announcement 📢🎉

Everyone, meet Mollie. The new manager of The Dales Dog Deli. Mollie is taking over the day to day running of the shop so it’s now her face you’ll see the most of. You lucky lot, she’s far better looking than me!

Since starting dog training my work load has massively increased and I really needed some help. I have two businesses as well as milking cows and the fire service. Something had to give somewhere. So I’ve drafted in one of my closest friends to help me. (When she’s not messing about with sheep, goats and chickens 😂)

If you haven’t met Mollie yet, call in and say hello. You’re to watch your terriers though because she will try to steal them. 👀

I will be doing Masham and Hawes market still and I am focusing on growing my dog training business. But, I will still be working a Friday in the shop to keep on top of admin etc. So if anyone has withdrawal symptoms from seeing me, Friday is your day. 😂

HAWES - Tuesday 1st October

Hi All, now that my two new members of staff have settled in nicely, we will finally be returning to Hawes on a Tuesday on the regular again! Starting tomorrow. I’ll be filling in a gap up at the very top for the next two weeks. Remember I can always bring anything from the shop if you drop me an email. 🙂

That’s a wrap for 2024 shows. Masham Sheep Fair did not disappoint. Unbelievably busy weekend. I’m not sure what we have left to sell this coming week so I’m hoping our delivery arrives quickly 😂

Massive thank you to Mollie for helping me this weekend and to Faye for manning the shop. Could not have done it without you! Roll on 2025 show season for the A team 🙌🏻

Making plans for next weekend? Come to Masham Sheep Fair!
The action-packed programme includes sheep showing classes on both Saturday and Sunday, the famous Sheep Show when you'll have the chance to see just how different sheep breeds really are (there's even some sheep dancing!!). You can place your bets on sheep racing, see wool crafts, fleece stalls, Bishop Blaize Procession, very creative flower displays in St. Mary's Church, sheepdog demonstrations, charity and other stalls, Morris dancers and brass band.

The Sheep Fair began in 1985 & is entirely run by volunteers, some of whom have been involved since the very beginning. The event is run to raise money for local charities, such as Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Masham organisations.

The programme remains the same every year, which is part of its charm. I sell programmes over the two days from a trailer in the centre of the square (pls come and say hello), and see many familiar faces, some of whom have been coming since the beginning. I love watching all the farmers greet each other and the good-humoured banter between them.

Susan Cunliffe-Lister is the super-woman behind the event. The event is partly inspired by the times when Masham was famous for its sheep sales, when as many as 70,000 sheep were sold each year in the large market square. The original plan was to hold a one-off event to raise money for farmers in Africa - Sheep Aid. After the success of that initial event, it was decided to repeat it each year, raising money for local charities. Since then well over £200,000 has been raised. So please do come to see me in the trailer in the middle of the square to buy a programme - a bargain at £2 and every penny raised goes to do good in local communities.

There's no entry charge for the Sheep Fair but we do ask visitors to pay to park on the recreation ground - every penny raised goes to charities.

We’re looking for local Dales based businesses to add our Dales branded treats to your shelves. Perfect for cafes, shops, garden centres etc.

Our treats are a huge hit with dog owners, selling quickly at £3 a pouch or 3 for £8.50. The treats are grain free and have a very high meat content making them delicious. Apparently! 🐶

Right that’s it winter is here 😂🙌🏻 The hoodies are back out and the log burner is whispering at me to light it. 😏 My favourite time of year is here, the “ber” months.

We’ve had an unbelievably busy time through the summer holidays over twice as many sales as last summer holidays!! 😳 I’m exhausted so now the kids are going back to school, I’m reducing the hours to take the pressure off my other work commitments. Evening dog training slots now easier to book and less of a rush for me in the morning to get to the shop after milking cows!

Don’t forget we offer free local delivery on everything in the shop including frozen raw food. We’ll be staying open until 5 Friday and Saturday. So not reducing by much.

🐾 Part time shop assistant position available 🐾

2 days a week including a weekend day preferable but all negotiable. More work is available should it be wanted. Lots of opportunities for work including markets / shows / pop up shops etc.

Customer facing job so polite and confident is a must. An interest / knowledge for natural dog treats and food is a massive advantage. At the very least I need someone who agrees gravy bones are horrid!!

Duties to include:
- Open up and lock up alone
- Serving customers
- Advising customers on products
- Keeping shop clean and presentable
- Keep stock topped up
- Reply to emails / socials
- Pack and send online orders

Extras if wanted:
- Shows / markets / pop up shops
- Social media management

In return you’ll get:
- To meet lots of dogs!!
- Above minimum wage
- Staff discount
- Well behaved dog welcome at work
- More responsibility if wanted

This job can be as busy as you want it to be. I’d like someone to get heavily involved and push the business forward. Help with the horrendous task of keeping active on social media would be a huge advantage. More hours available for this.

If you’re the type of person who’d throw new ideas at me and genuinely wants to help us grow our tiny business then I’d love to hear from you.

For the right person this job could turn into something very exciting as I take a step back from the shop to do dog training.

Line working so 18+ please. Driving licence advantageous for shows.
