My names Matt, I’m 23 and I previously worked as an Accountant until I decided to make a leap into the Pet Industry to follow my true calling. I’ve since immersed myself in studying Canine Behaviour and Nutrition by reading Dozens of books, pursuing a degree, and attending numerous training seminars across the country🤓📚. I have 3 dogs of my own; Maya, Athena and Azra and have even had the luxury of having their own puppies 🐶

🚨BUSINESS REBRANDING🚨

As I’m sure most of you are aware, I’ve been going through a rebranding process. As I’m coming towards the end of my Canine Behaviour Degree, I’m looking to set up a business which focuses on the more advanced Canine services such as Obedience, relationship building, unwanted behaviour management and welfare improvement aswell as basic training and walking.

So therefore I have decided to change my business name to South Ribble Canine Services.

Don’t worry, all pack walks and current training programs will still remain the same!

Meet Klopp🦮

Klopps owner got in touch with me about severe reactivity issues towards people and other dogs. When I went round to visit them, within minutes i managed to get him calm and comfortable around me. Didn’t take long till he was sat on my lap.

On my second visit, I took him on a short walk round his neighbourhood to see for myself the level of reactivity he had towards dogs. I found him jumping and lunging towards dogs as far as 30 meters away and barking at the top of his lungs. After a series of trail and error, I managed to redirect his attention from dogs and other people towards me and ease his nerves.

Hes still anxious but he’s making solid progress. Looking forward to see what his future holds and to make great improvements in both his and his owner’s lives! 🐾

How to get your dogs engagement🐕🤔 When your dog is engaging with you it makes everything else a much easier and smoother process. Your dog WILL NOT pull on lead or bark at other dogs when it’s engaging with you. Your dog WILL listen to instructions easier and walk to heel. But how do we get to this point? You need to require your dog’s ATTENTION before you give them what they want the most. If this is treats, they can only be given these treats when all eyes are on you. If they want a ball, again, all eyes must be on you in order to get it. Become the gateway for their wants and needs. They will soon figure out that when they want something, or they want support, they should look at you and this engagement will soon become a default behaviour.

What is boundary training and why is it important?⁉️ Boundary training teaches dogs physical or invisible boundaries that the dog learns not to cross without permission. Examples of this include opening doors or crates and the dog waiting for permission to pass through, instead of rushing through as soon as possible. 🛑✋ So what are the benefits? ⁉️ Boundary training allows us to keep our dog safe by preventing them from walking into danger such as moving traffic or another dog. ⛔️🚫 It also helps dogs develop impulse control as they will become able to fight off the urge to do the first thing that pops into their mind (in this case, cross the boundary). This will allow owners to gain more control over their dog, especially when in public. When dogs develop impulse control, it will help them with a number of issues such as pulling on lead, jumping up and barking for attention. 🦮🦮 Dogs will learn to respect boundaries, look to you for guidance and direction, which can improve your relationship, help your dog understand what you are asking of them and enhance overall communication. 🗣️ This is something you can and should be doing with your dog on a daily basis! ‼️

🐶 MEET WINSTON 🐶 Winston’s parents came to me asking to help them with his reactivity issues towards other dogs. He was unable to loose lead walk and maintain calmness around other dogs. After just a few sessions, we managed to teach Winston how to behave on a lead and around other dogs. We have even been able to get Winston on group walks.
