🐶 How Much Exercise & Attention Do Puppies Need? 🐶

Puppies need 2-3 hours daily of focused time to grow into well-adjusted, happy dogs. This includes play sessions, walks, safe solo time in a playpen, supervised family interactions, and 1:1 bonding moments.

Don’t forget mental games! They’re just as important for puppy development as physical exercise. Puppies thrive on attention and interaction, it helps build their confidence and good behavior.

🐾 Protect Your Dog’s Paws This Summer! 🔥

Pavements can reach 130°F or more in just minutes, hot enough to seriously burn your dog’s pads. Use the simple 5-second hand test: if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pup!

Keep walks safe by sticking to grass, dirt, or shaded paths, walking early mornings or evenings, and trying dog booties or paw balm for extra protection.

Watch for signs like limping or licking paws, they might be getting burned.

🐕 Why Is Your Dog Jumping? It's Not Always What You Think 🐕

Jumping might look like bad manners, but the truth is, it can come from a few very different places:

🐾 Excitement: Your dog is overwhelmed and doesn’t know how else to say “hi!”
🐾 Anxiety: They’re unsure and looking for reassurance or control.
🐾 Confusion: They haven’t been taught a better way to greet people.

That’s why effective training isn’t about just stopping behavior, it’s about understanding why it’s happening in the first place.

Want to learn what’s behind your dog’s behavior and how to fix it at the root? Get in touch with Trident Dog Training today.

🧠 The Secret Ingredient to Great Dog Training? REST. 💤

Just like us, dogs need quality sleep to process and retain new information. When your pup learns a new skill or behavior, their brain keeps working on it long after the session ends, especially during deep sleep.

Without enough rest, dogs can become:
🟠 Overstimulated
🟠 Frustrated
🟠 Slower to learn

Learning isn’t just about reps and rewards, it’s also about rest and recovery.

🐾 Did you know? Dogs sweat differently than humans! 🐕

While we cool off by sweating all over our skin, dogs primarily sweat through their paw pads. That’s why panting is their main way to regulate body temperature and stay cool.

Because they don’t sweat like we do, it’s extra important to help your pup beat the heat during warm weather! Here are a few tips to keep your dog comfortable and safe:

🌬️ Make sure your dog has plenty of shade and fresh water
🚶‍♂️ Keep walks short and during cooler times of the day, early morning or late evening
❄️ Try cooling mats or damp towels for a refreshing rest spot
🚫 Avoid strenuous exercise during peak heat hours

Keeping an eye on their panting and overall behavior can help you spot signs of overheating early.

💧 Keep Your Pup Hydrated This Summer! 💧

When the temps rise, your dog’s need for water does too!
Here are a few quick hydration tips to keep tails wagging safely:

✅ Bring a collapsible bowl on every walk
✅ Add ice cubes to their water for a cool treat
🚫 Skip puddles and ponds—hidden bacteria can be harmful

A hydrated dog is a happy (and healthy) dog!

🐕 Why Does Your Dog Pull on the Leash? 🐕

Leash pulling is one of the most common challenges dog owners face. Often, it’s because dogs are excited to explore or feel unsure about their surroundings.

Without clear communication and leadership, dogs pull to get where they want faster or to reduce their anxiety.
