Freedom Field Fun!

Alma (lovingly known as Lottie) has been having a blast in our new secure field.

The field is invaluable for timid dogs like Lottie, as it allows her to build her confidence & the choice to approach people in her own time.

As you can see, volunteers are able to sit still & Lottie is free to run around & then approach everyone on her own terms.

The more she does this, the more she learns that human interaction only leads to good things like fuss & love. As her confidence grows, the better her chances of finding a forever family willing to give her a chance to shine, like we all know she can.
She's an amazing girl 🩷🐶✨

FOUND Dog!
Dark grey Whippet Lurcher type dog.
4 white paws. 3yrs old. Male.

We were contacted about a dog roaming in a rural setting in the CV10 area. No collar or tag, with visibly sore feet, limping.

We have scanned his microchip, but sadly it is still registered to the breeder, who was not able to help us.

Dog warden informed, he is now safely at our kennels.

Do you know this dog?

PATTERDALE IN THE PARK ❤️🤍💙

Chase enjoyed some freedom running around our secure field & then he had a date with Rachel Bottrill who took him to Beacon Park for the Proms in the Park event.

Rachel reports that;
"Chase walked really well & wasn’t bothered about the cyclists, joggers, birds, traffic, music or people. We distracted him around other dogs & by the end of the walk we walked past dogs without him bothering. We were so impressed with him. Need to keep being firm, but he is quick learner."

We are all very proud of Chase's progress & continue to work on his dog reactivity. Training, boundaries & consistency is key ✨

BUDDY UPDATE //

The hunt for Buddy continues. However with many organisations working on the case, we are now switching the majority of our resources to the urgent missing Staffy in Walsall.

We also helped reunite Woody the much loved missing cockapoo with his family this morning too.

---------------------------

Lauren & volunteers have been assisting at the search area, setting up cameras, making & laying trail mix.

Last night Lauren left around midnight & returned again this morning for 5.30am. All was pretty quiet until about 7.30am when the first dog walkers started to arrive. At this point, we know that Buddy will go deeper into hiding & sightings will be unlikely on camera or in person until the area is quiet. This is why cameras are so invaluable, as Buddy will not come out while people are around.

However, the search area is VAST & even with our pooled resources there are still many large blind spots. We NEED more trail/field cameras, SD cards & batteries so we can get some positive sightings of Buddy & narrow down the search area. Can you help?

FIELD/TRAIL CAMERAS
- If you have any old equipment that you no longer require, would you consider donating it to us?
- Could you check your local Facebook Marketplace to see if anyone is selling them cheaply? They can be up to £200 new, but are often available second hand for as little as £15 & perhaps donate one to us?
-Do you have one we could borrow?

SD CARDS
Each trail cam takes 3 SD cards. We need as many as possible. Do you have any 32gb, 64gb or 128gb (the higher the better) you could donate or let us borrow?

BATTERIES
Each camera takes 8 AA batteries that need replacing every day. Sadly the batteries drain quicker in colder weather. Could you donate a pack of batteries?

ALTERNATIVELY
We are trying to raise some money to buy more equipment, if you would like to donate please use this link https://buy.stripe.com/6oEdU58Xw2JCeqI8xC

All teams are working together to help bring Buddy back home. Any help YOU can provide, in the way of donating or loaning equipment would make the world of difference too. 🙏

Resulting from a number of the public & our own volunteers (thank you Amy Fellows) asking if we are helping in the search for Buddy, we have responded & are now assisting Emma Sparkes from DogLost.co.uk & our friends Kevin Gunn John Watton & Hannah Bruntnell from Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK with the search for Buddy.

Great things can happen when many people come together, bringing all their expertise to the table to work as one. We are privileged to be working with such dedicated & caring people & we all hope to be reuniting Kate Szafranski with Buddy soon. We will keep you all up to date with any news.

THANK YOU THURSDAY...

We now have our fully fenced off, free play, secure field up & running! Just look at how much the dogs are enjoying the little bit of freedom this area provides.

It is invaluable for free play, socialisation, training & independent decision making.

A big, HUGE, massive thank you to all of the businesses, tradesmen, transporters, volunteers & members of the public that helped make this happen bit by bit!
We're so grateful to you all! 🙏

We would love to make the area larger, so should any of our supporters ever have any unwanted heras fence panels, doors, feet or clips available, we would certainly make good use of them as you can see from the smiles on these happy dogs faces.

Otis needs a home!
Who wants to join the Scooby Gang & be best fiends their very own SCRAPPY DOO? Otis is a fun loving energetic puppy who's a clever boy & understands commands. With further training he will be an excellent family dog. He's a BIG favourite here at M>!

🐾 Still a puppy, under 1yr old

🐾 Large size

🐾 Likes other dogs on walks

🐾 Like all puppies, he's a bit bouncy on his walks to start with, but does calm down once he's controlled his excitement & burnt some energy

🐾 He can be strong on the lead, but with consistent training he would walk lovely

🐾 Loves people & fuss

🐾 Loves to play with toys

🐾 House trained

🐾 Travels well in cars

🐾 Due to his size, we'd recommend living with dog savvy older kids around 10yrs+

If you are interested in meeting Otis or any of our other dogs, please send us a private message so we can book you an introduction appointment.

To help us care for the dogs, pay for vet bills, cleaning & feeding you can make a £5 monthly donation by clicking this link:

TICKLE TUESDAY with these little tykes ✨

Making time for enrichment is just as important as walkies, feeding & cleaning the rescue dogs in our care.

The fact that they can trust us with their tummy's is so important after everything they've been through & what makes tickle time even more special.

We're so proud of them all!

Katie's Top Dog: MAX! 🖤

Katie Cullen has been volunteering with us for 2 years this month. She fell in LOVE with Max as soon as she met him & who can blame her!?

Katie has watched Max grow from an adolescent pup to the gorgeous, affectionate, fun loving & well mannered dog he is today, forming a wonderful relationship along the way.

As much as Katie ADORES Max she'd love nothing more than to see him in a home of his own with his forever family... Something he's NEVER had! 💔

Can YOU give Max the happy ending he so deserves? Could YOU be his special someone, giving tummy tickles, bum scratches, throwing his ball & enjoying walks together? Could YOU be the person who makes his face light up & be greeted by his special smile every morning? ✨

If you'd like to meet Max or find out any more details about him, please send us a private message. We'd love to hear from you! 🙏

L O S T D O G U P D A T E // Bobby is HOME!

Exactly one week after Bobby's owner Susan contacted us asking for help & 18 days since Bobby first went missing, we are happy to announce that Bobby is HOME SAFE!

Lauren has spent the last 6 days driving the 2hr round trip to Kings Norton, tracking Bobby, placing field cams, reviewing footage, laying trail mix, setting up the trap & sleeping in her car to keep watch - DAILY!

All lost dogs tend to triangulate, staying on the move, but keeping to the same 'safe' loop. This case was more challenging than most, as there were only 2 sightings of Bobby over the whole time he was missing. Bobby's owner started assuming the worst, but after lots of tracking, camera placement & analysis, Lauren was able to confirm Bobby was still alive & successfully route his 'loop'.

A couple of days ago, Lauren had the last piece of the puzzle & ascertained the best place to put the trap was on land owned by Cadbury. After a few official emails, talks with security & providing copies of our insurance, we were given permission to access the land last night.

Bobby successfully followed the trail mix to the trap area & spent most of the night watching the car park & the trap until he was brave enough to approach the trap, circling it & then lying down outside it, effectively claiming the trap as his!

Bobby could smell the food & his blanket inside, but he still wasn't brave enough to enter. But, he didn't want to share it either, as you can see when he chases off a FOX!

After many many hours of surveillance (without a single crumb of Cadbury chocolate), Lauren was aware that Cadbury's security & staff would start returning to the area for the day meaning Bobby would move on, starting his loop again. Therefore, Lauren made the decision to call Bobby's owner & ask her to join her at the carpark & park with her boot facing the trap.

Susan arrived & let Bobby's sister Pepper out into the area. Both dogs ran around playing & clever Pepper herded Bobby straight into his owners arms, who swiftly bundled him into her open boot.

Bobby is now safe, in great health, eating little & often so as not to overload his empty stomach. As you can see, even when home he was still very timid as survival mode is a regression to a dogs primal instincts. However, the good news is, it is almost always temporary & you can see Bobby slowly relax & trust his owner again, which is all the reward Lauren needs, seeing him happily in her arms!

BIG thanks to Amanda Wood-woolley Graham Burton & John Watton from Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK for assisting Lauren & providing expert support & equipment. Mr Colin Mclellan, Cadbury's security manager needs a special mention, for all of his help in allowing the trap to be set up on Cadbury’s property & monitoring Bobby on CCTV. Last, but never least, thank you to our own team of volunteers who joined Lauren in Kings Norton & also those who stayed behind at our kennels ensuring our rescue dogs were all well cared for in Lauren's absence... Lauren couldn't do it without you ALL!

We couldn't let National Dog Day pass without sharing some of the LOVE that goes on behind the scenes between the team & our rescue dogs, in both our Curborough kennels & foster homes.

U P D A T E // Lost Dog Bobby is HOME

As we mentioned yesterday, we have been asked to help track & trap a lost dog in the B30 Kings Norton area.

Over the last 24hrs Lauren & some incredible volunteers have driven the 2hr round trip several times to help try & reunite Bobby with his lovely owner Susan.

INVESTIGATING
The first thing Lauren did was survey the land where the sightings of Bobby were last reported. Lauren then reduces the area of interest by zoning in on a water source, tracking paw prints & investigating the contents of any near by p**p hoping to find deposits containing evidence you'd expect to find in a stray dogs diet. Lauren has explained that there is a distinguishable difference between the prints & p**p of a fox & dog, but we'll have to take her expert word for it!

TRAP
Based on the findings from her tracking, Lauren then built the large trap in the spot deemed best placed to catch Bobby. The trap works off a lazer & magnetic door mechanism. The trap is deactivated in the day, to prevent catching any local wildlife & then reactivated every night.

SURVEILLANCE
With the help of Graham from Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK, the trap is monitored remotely 24/7 to make sure it is safe, in working order & so any animals that may be tempted to enter can be released asap. Field cameras are also set up in the area in the hope of capturing footage of Bobby, so we can get a better idea of his movements.

TRAIL MIX & BANQUET
A very smelly concoction is mixed up & laid in a trail towards the trap, which acts as a beacon to the lost dog, bringing it out of its hiding place, so it hopefully follows it's nose all the way to the trap. Inside the trap Lauren will leave a banquet of freshly cooked bacon, chicken & sausages which we hope will be too good to resist. Once the dog reaches the back of the trap to eat the BBQ, the magnetic door will close & the dog will be safely captured.

TIME
Bobby is an ex street dog, so will most definitely be in survival mode right now. This means that he will react negatively towards humans, being scared of even his owner. He most likely hides all day long & only surfaces during the safety of nightfall. Bobby will have street smarts, so won't fall for the trap instantly. Usually dogs like Bobby need to get used to the trap sitting in their environment & won't go near it until it is deemed to not be a threat, regardless of how hungry he must be by now. This being the case, the trail mix & banquet must be relaid & cooked EVERY EVENING. Then EVERY MORNING the cameras need checking, batteries replacing & the trap deactivated. As you can see, it's a LOT of work & takes up a lot of time & resources.

Many thanks to Amanda Wood-woolley from Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK for driving the 6hr round trip to deliver a spare trap to Lauren & big thanks to John Watton for seeking out any possible sightings, checking local surveillance, helping with equipment & printing lots of lost dog flyers! Together, they all make a great team, working as one unit to help get Bobby home! It's always ALL about the dogs!

We will keep you posted! 🤞🤞🤞

ROLLING INTO THE WEEKEND...

We either have a serious case of fox p**p in our field, our we have a happy pack of pooches... we'd like to hope it is the latter 🤞

We LOVE seeing our rescue dogs like this.
So happy, carefree & enjoying the moment. Feeling safe & loved enough to just let go & be themselves... It's bliss! It's hard to believe that most of the dogs featured in this video have been with us for over TWO YEARS, waiting to find their forever families!!!

If you'd like to find out any details about any of the beauties in this video, please send us a private message to have a chat or book an introduction appointment ✨🐶❤️🐾

THANK YOU FRIDAY

Last week Jeanette Dee hosted a coffee morning at Fazeley Marina in Tamworth, raising an incredible £180 for us to put towards much needed dog food.

Jeanette's daughter Melissa from Doggie Deetails (who gives up much of her spare time to professionally groom our rescue dogs) took our beloved abandoned bulldog Bob along for the day. Bob enjoyed meeting some new doggy friends, tractor spotting & lapping up tummy tickles. We all know he's a stickler for attention from his adoring public - he has no shame!

Thank you both for your continued support & thank you to everyone who attended & enjoyed a slice of cake for a good cause! 🍰

U P D A T E // BOBBY IS HOME!

Kings Norton / B30 Area
Missing since 10/08/24

Black dog // Four white paws & chest // Red collar

We have been asked to help find missing Bobby by his owner. Lauren is putting a team together, working with Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK to help locate, capture & reunite this poor boy with his worried Mum.

Bobby is a rescue street dog from Cyprus. He has been living with his owner for 5 months, but has only been brave enough to venture outdoors for the last 2 months.

This being the case, Bobby will most definitely have reverted to 'survival mode' & will respond negatively towards any human interaction.

When in survival mode, dogs can become more reactive & defensive, as well as more inclined to run away or hide from any perceived threats... even their owners.

SOCIAL MEDIA
This being the case, we are asking people not report any sightings of Bobby on social media, as we are very keen for the public to stay away from the area he is in. Instead, please report all sightings to:
07523 366738

DO NOT
✖️ Do not chase
✖️ Do not whistle
✖️ Do not call

DO
✔️ Report all sightings to 07523 366738
✔️ Check CCTV & Ring doorbells for sightings
✔️ State time, location & directon of travel
✔️ Check outbuildings

We will keep you all updated.
Thank you 🙏

Our Story

The Max & George Trust was set up in 2016 after Max sadly and unexpectedly died from Leishmaniasis (Leish). Max and George were both rescued from awful situations in Spain and it was discovered they had Leish. Leish is relatively unheard of in the UK and therefore treatment is very expensive and some UK vets have little or no experience in dealing with the disease compared to vets in Countries where Leish is prevalent. The Trust aims to help other dog owners here in the UK that have animals affected by the disease in anyway it can, including support, treatment plans, treatment costs and emergency care when needed. We are supported by two incredibly amazing vets who are both very experienced in treating the disease.

We also rescue dogs that are in desperate need of help regardless of where they come from, be it the UK or abroad. Many of the dogs we have rescued would have been put to sleep if we had not stepped in, or, needed urgent medical attention as in the case of Charlie who had been shot and was living in a shelter the bullet still in his leg or Domino who would have been put to sleep here in the UK just because of his age through no fault of his owner.

We want to continue to support dogs with Leish and rescue more animals in dire need but to do that we need help. You can help us continue our work in many ways, such as by donation, buying a personalised gift from us, doing your normal everyday shopping using our cashback card so we get cashback as well as you, becoming a fosterer or even adopting. You could even hold fundraisers for us like a coffee morning because every little helps and here’s a really easy thing you can do to help...... just share our FB page with your friends & family. Helping us get more support and likes might just end up saving a dogs life! However, you choose to support us, thank you ###
