It has been 18 months since the night of the devastating and awful fire that broke out in our Romanian Sanctuary destroying the compounds, enclosures and property itself.

You can see the original post here https://www.facebook.com/reel/734336512063205WeAlthough

we have temporarily rebuilt some enclosures due to lack of resources we have not been in a position to rebuild or repair. However, the bad winter and horrif winds have ripped away the temporary roofs.

However, if we want to carry on providing a place of safety for the dogs that would otherwise be inhumanely slaughtered in the Kill Centre we need to properly rebuild.
We are trying to raise ยฃ50,000 to rebuild, repair and make safe The Sanctuary and we are appealing for help.

With our UK rescue being the priority over the last 18th months we have not been in a position to rebuild the Sanctuary properly.
We really want to have the facility rebuilt in time for this coming winter as we just about struggled through so far.

The Sanctuary is home to nearly 100 dogs and puppies that would otherwise be tortured to death. It is place of safety, a small pice of heaven for their damaged souls and hearts to repair.

Please, if you can find it your hearts to support the work we do in Romania, work that is often overlooked and make a donation we would be extremely grateful.

If you would like to volunteer for our next working party in Romania then please send us a DM for details.

To make a donation you can use our dedicated Stripe link https://buy.stripe.com/cN29DPflU83W0zS8xF
or you can make a donation to our Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lauren-brown-838...
I
f you are unable to donate, but would still like to help then perhaps consider holding a fundraising event but please whatever you can or cannot do, please share this post.

We will of course be posting regular updates. We know it is a big challenge but every little helps and time is running out to get hte repairs done in time for winter.

Remember Effie?

Effie went missing on 27th July 2023 in Balmaha.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AvvVkCkpX/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Effie was in the temporary care of a volunteer fosterer who took Effie without permission or our prior knowledge on holiday to Scotland.

Effie was one of the most traumatised dogs rescued by Lauren and it was a huge step placing her in a home.

Sadly, without giving any consideration to Effieโ€™s fears she was driven over 300 miles away for a family holiday, unsecured and away from everything she knew.

The moment the door to the motor home was opened, Effie bolted. Scared, terrified and lost for a week Effie was then abandoned, missing in Scotland by the very people that should have kept her safe.

As soon as Lauren was aware Effie was alone and lost in an unfamiliar place she drove straight to Scotland to find her and bring her home.

But this was one search that was never going to be that simple.

The search for Effie is a story of despair, hope, love and most of all dedication to a rescue dog that needed rescuing all over again.

You can pre-order your limited edition, signed hard back copy now for ยฃ19.95 plus ยฃ3.50 p&p. All proceeds go towards the running of the rescue.

ELLIE U P D A T E
You'll remember Ellie was one of two senior Yorkies Phoebe & Ellie who joined us after their Mum passed away from cancer at Christmas.

Perhaps understandably under the circumstances, both dogs had been seriously neglected, were underweight & very poorly. Both girls needed treatment for ear infections, severe sickness, diarrhoea, dehydration, temperatures & poor dental health.

But it was far far worse for poor Ellie. She must have been suffering for quite some time & was no doubt in a LOT of pain before she came into our care with what the vet believed to be a ruptured abscess behind her eye, causing irrevocable & catastrophic damage.

It would have been unethical to leave Ellie in a continued state of pain & further risk of the abscess spreading to her brain.

That being the case, we were faced with two difficult options; either put Ellie to sleep with dignity & love, or operate to give her a chance of a pain free happy life for the rest of her retirement years.

As you know, we gave Ellie the chance of life. Ellie was a fighter & made it through the intensive & invasive surgery. She coped well & was discharged from the vets.

Whilst under supervision at the rescue she was alert & comfortable. However, not long after we returned her to her foster home, she rapidly went downhill.

We're saddened to announce that poor little Ellie didn't make it, passing away with her sister & very much loved foster family by her side.

Like humans, we believe Ellie rallied, holding on until she was reunited once again with her dear sister & loved ones, where she felt she could simply let go...

Ellie's story is one of tragedy, strength, hope, bonds & the power of love. Sadly, in dog rescue, this is a story we are all too familiar with. But it doesn't stop it hurting.

Ellie, in the short time you were in our care you stole our hearts & were so very much loved & will forever remain in our thoughts, prayers & hearts.

Never forgotten & forever loved.

FINAL FAREWELL

You will remember Bandit, the senior Staffy, rescued from his own home where he was tragically discovered living with his beloved deceased owner Paul.

Paul was a much loved member of his community & his abrupt passing was a blow to all of those who loved him.

Paul's friends & family never got the opportunity to say goodbye to Paul, so we felt it only right to take Bandit over to see them a couple of times since he's been in our care.

It was important to give Paul's loved ones the chance to say goodbye to Paul through Bandit & reassure them that Paul's best friend & much loved dog was safe & loved at The M>.

Today was the most important goodbye of all; Paul's funeral. Bandit was invited to attend & we knew we owed it to Paul, his friends, family & Bandit himself to join them in paying their final respects.

BUT... we had literally just driven Bandit to Wales the preceding weekend, having taken the time & care the previous weekend to ensure Bandit was settled & in the right foster home. All BEFORE we were aware of the funeral ๐Ÿ™ˆ

So, that meant driving baaaack to Wales...

On Tuesday evening Lauren drove the 5 hour round trip to collect Bandit from his lovely foster family to join Paul one last time & Bandit took it all in his stride.

The funeral, like all funerals, was a tearful & emotional farewell to Paul. A man who dedicated his life to Bandit, whom Paul had rescued from a terrible life at just a year old.

Paul was made & meant to look after Bandit, they were an inseparable duo, going everywhere together. We have no doubt Paul will be waiting for Bandit at the rainbow bridge when his time comes...where they can be together once more, forever in peace & undying love... But itโ€™s not Banditโ€™s time just yet. ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸคŽ

Being able to say goodbye to Paul was an important step in the healing process for Bandit & we are privileged to have been a small part of their story.

Banditโ€™s ongoing health care costs & general needs will remain the responsibility of M>, as do all our foster dogs. If you would like to donate towards our monthly veterinary bill, you can do so here: https://buy.stripe.com/dR603fb5Efwo1DW6pi

Any amount, however small, really makes a positive impact on our small independent dog rescue.

Bandit is now safely back at his retirement home in Wales being spoiled by his new Mum & senior Staffie girlfriend Izzy.

We will keep all Bandit's FB family updated on his forthcoming adventures during his last beautiful chapter โœจ

RIP Paul

Our Story

The Max & George Trust was set up in 2016 after Max sadly and unexpectedly died from Leishmaniasis (Leish). Max and George were both rescued from awful situations in Spain and it was discovered they had Leish. Leish is relatively unheard of in the UK and therefore treatment is very expensive and some UK vets have little or no experience in dealing with the disease compared to vets in Countries where Leish is prevalent. The Trust aims to help other dog owners here in the UK that have animals affected by the disease in anyway it can, including support, treatment plans, treatment costs and emergency care when needed. We are supported by two incredibly amazing vets who are both very experienced in treating the disease.

We also rescue dogs that are in desperate need of help regardless of where they come from, be it the UK or abroad. Many of the dogs we have rescued would have been put to sleep if we had not stepped in, or, needed urgent medical attention as in the case of Charlie who had been shot and was living in a shelter the bullet still in his leg or Domino who would have been put to sleep here in the UK just because of his age through no fault of his owner.

We want to continue to support dogs with Leish and rescue more animals in dire need but to do that we need help. You can help us continue our work in many ways, such as by donation, buying a personalised gift from us, doing your normal everyday shopping using our cashback card so we get cashback as well as you, becoming a fosterer or even adopting. You could even hold fundraisers for us like a coffee morning because every little helps and hereโ€™s a really easy thing you can do to help...... just share our FB page with your friends & family. Helping us get more support and likes might just end up saving a dogs life! However, you choose to support us, thank you ###
