While reduced calorie intake is the most important
part of weight loss, increasing energy expenditure
through exercise and play can also have an impact.
Exercise also helps prevent muscle loss and
increase flexibility, supporting healthy aging.

🚩Salt and grit used for de-icing roads can pose risks to a dog’s paws. It can irritate their paw pads, causing redness, cracking or peeling.
In an attempt to remove the salt, dogs may lick their paws, but this can lead to them ingesting chemicals that can upset their stomachs or cause more severe issues. Grit found on the roads sometimes causes micro-cuts and abrasions on paw pads, increasing the chance of infection.

🚩Prevention and Care:
Use dog boots to shield paws from salt and grit.
Apply a paw wax or balm before walks to create a protective barrier.
Rinse and wipe your dog’s paws with warm water and a soft cloth after walks.
Check paws regularly for cuts or signs of irritation.
Trim fur between paw pads to prevent ice and grit accumulation.

🚩First Aid for Irritated Paws:
Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Apply a soothing paw balm or petroleum jelly.
If irritation persists or there are signs of infection (redness, swelling, limping), please call us to book an appointment on 028777 69777

The pet insurance market can be very overwhelming but
it can be made easier by deciding the type of policy that
would suit you best to narrow your search.

Depending on the age of your pet and level of cover you
would like to protect them with, you can then start
considering the different polices for that type of
insurance.

Remember not all pet insurance is the same so it is a
good idea to check the cover provided and ask if you will
be paying more for claiming.

Overindulged during the holiday season? As many of us
embark on New Year’s resolution diet and fitness regimes,
lots of our pets would benefit from accompanying us. It is
estimated that up to 65% of dogs and 50% of cats in the
UK are obese.
Being overweight leaves pets at greater risk of conditions like
diabetes, cancer, heart disease and arthritis and studies have
shown that it can dramatically reduce their overall life
expectancy.

With the cost of living increasing, you may be starting to

Our Story

Established in 2003, All Creatures, state of the art veterinary clinic in Limavady caters for all your pet's veterinary needs and offers first opinion and referral veterinary services, hydrotherapy, licensed boarding facilities and quality pet supplies. The clinic recently moved from the Greystone Road to purpose built hospital-style premises on the Edenmore Road in 2013. The landmark building is Ireland's greenest veterinary clinic, powered by solar and heated by air source heat pumps, and is equipped to provide a quality of care that ranks it among the top veterinary clinics in Ireland. The All Creatures team has designed its premises to ensure that your pet's time with us is as comfortable as possible. At All Creatures, we understand that pets are family and we are dedicated to providing a high quality service and compassionate health care for you and your pet. With an ethos of thoroughness, friendliness and value for money, our reputation has attracted customers from all over Northern Ireland. Our veterinary team, all animal owners and lovers themselves, will treat your pet as they would their own.

All Creatures provides the full package of rehabilitation care by means of a large heated hydrotherapy pool, hastening the recovery times of orthopaedic cases, and improving arthritis and other musculoskeletal and neurological problems. Swimming at our pool is a great way for a heavier pet to shed some calories in conjunction with one of our effective slimming diets or to simply burn off some extra energy of a lively pooch - ask about our fun swim and bath combo! Or if your pooch doesn't like the water, we can encourage a speedy recovery using a class IV therapeutic laser. All Creatures clinic has extensive medical, surgical and hospital facilities - we are always happy to let our customers see behind the scenes and tour our premises. We have a complete in house laboratory with blood, urine and skin testing, digital x-rays and ultrasound scanning. Our kennels are large and spacious with glass fronts and underfloor heating. All patients and boarders are exercised within a spacious secure well maintained grassed area. We cater for all budgets but encourage pet owners to consider pet health insurance against accident and illness. For extra discounts on preventative care such as vaccines, worming and flea treatments, we recommend that you join the All Creature's Healthy Pet's Club. All Creatures provides subsidized dog neutering from £50 (Dog's Trust) and cat neutering from £7 (Cat's Protection League).

Examinations with the vet are all by appointment and we will always try to accommodate you in the event of an emergency. We provide an out of hours service and after 6.45 pm and on Sunday the emergency vet can be contacted on 07763 882088.
