This beautiful boy is Jasper. He has been coming to us following a spinal operation to correct "tethered cord syndrome". This is a rare condition that causes abnormal tension in the spinal cord which can lead to pain and weakness in the limbs. Thankfully, Jasper is responding well and has already increased his muscle mass considerably. He is a joy to work with.
I think Maisie would like to take this home. At least Dad knows what to get her for her birthday

This plucky little girl is on the road to recovery after a fall left her with hind limb paralysis. One advantage of having such short limbs is that a rolled up towel under her tummy is enough to support her in a good postural position while we apply some basic physio before her hydro session. Little Peppa is a joy to work with
We are so pleased to welcome Ted back to hydro following his second hip replacement. Here he is having a relax on our PEMF (pulsed electro magnetic field) mat before his exercise to ensure he's totally comfortable in the treadmill.
We said "happy goodbyes" to this beautiful girl yesterday. She is now fully recovered from a TPLO operation after a cruciate injury and is very excited about going back to work with her dad.

I adore this photo - what beautiful boys! Raven brought his brother, Teddy, along to hydro to show him how well he's doing. Raven has bilateral patellar luxation and has been coming here to build up the strength and conformation of his hind limbs to hopefully avoid needing any surgery.
This gorgeous little boy (called Hector) came to us after having a spinal operation following his IVDD condition. After only 4 sessions of hydrotherapy (& lots of care and work from his owners), he now has full mobility in his limbs and is able to walk, run and enjoy being a typical dachshund again. Well done Hector!
Chrissie update: this little darling likes to "pop in" for the occasional hydro session to show me how well she's doing. Having only received conservative treatment for an IVDD condition which left her unable to use her hind limbs, she is now thriving. Just check out those muscles!
Isn't he gorgeous? Elvis, a rottweiler puppy, has unfortunately been diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Thankfully, he loves his hydro sessions and is making fantastic progress with his muscle tone and movement which will really help him as he matures

Cute Chester who is recovering from a spinal operation (IVDD) took his first unaided steps in the treadmill this evening. We are so proud of his hard work and determination.
Pulsed magnetic field therapy is used as an aid to help repair injuries and inflammation by using electromagnetic fields to alter damaged membranes and restore them back to their natural function. It is commonly used to treat pain, arthritis, ligament damage and even bone injuries. Here's a couple of my lovely patients relaxing on our new "mag mat" prior to their hydro session.
Huge congratulations to beautiful Brodie who has (over) achieved his goal of losing 5 kilos. It's made a big difference to the strain on his joints and has given him a new lease of life
This tiny beauty, called Roo, has recently started hydro here after suffering from Legge Calve Perthes disease. This is a degenerative condition that affects the blood supply going to the femur causing the femoral head to decay or become deformed. The usual treatment is to have surgery to remove this femoral head which Roo had some weeks ago. She is now recovering well and coming to us to help build some muscle tone around this joint.
Little Basil is making excellent progress following his cruciate ligament operation and just loves his visits to hydro for his "squeezy cheese treats". He's an absolute sweetheart though, to me, he's the image of "Spit the dog" (showing my age!).
Well done to our super slimmer Alfie. He's managed to lose 10 kilos (so far) which has made an enormous difference to his health and really helps with all his joint problems.
Gorgeous Rio couldn't wait to pop over to show us how well she's doing after her cruciate operation a couple of weeks ago. Rio was amoung the first in this area to have the new (to UK) ZLig operation which uses a very strong synthetic material to mimic the ruptured ligament in an anatomically correct manner. This means that the forces placed on the stifle are not changed, thereby (hopefully) reducing the repair time.

Gibbs likes to ensure that he's not the only one to get wet during hydro - we all have to share the experience with his enthusiastic splashing. Still, at least he's glad to be back at his agility training now that he's recovered from his hind limb injury.
We said "happy farewells " to sweet Maggie last week. Now she's fully recovered from her IVDD operation, she no longer needs regular hydro. We'll miss our cuddles xx
Little Millie has been having hydrotherapy to help with her bilateral hip dysplasia since she was just 8 months old. Having completed a course of 10 sessions, her referral consultant is so pleased with her progress that he's decided that she no longer requires a full hip replacement operation. From now on, we'll be conservatively managing her condition with hydrotherapy and exercises. Well done Millie!!
MaggieMay doesn't stop wagging when she comes for her hydro - even during her rest periods she can't help it. Initially a very worried little dog, she's now loving every minute and the hydro is really helping with her stifle problems. A really positive result.

Yes, this is the same Chrissy who was unable to stand let alone walk when we first met her in June. Now, she's showing off, trotting back to her car after "enjoying" her hydro. Well done beautiful xx
Chrissy is one determined dachshund. She suffered with a spinal disc injury 6 weeks ago which left her unable to use her hind limbs. Through only conservative treatment, she is now walking through the water in the treadmill. This is largely down to her hard work and her family's commitment to exercising her every day. We're so proud of you Chrissy.
Another day, another gorgeous dachshund. This time it's Darcy who has been coming for hydro to help with his spinal condition. His posture is improved and he's getting stronger hind limb movement every day. We're all proud of his progress.
Quick video to show how well little Alistair is doing after spinal surgery just last month. The poor lad had an intervertebral disc extrusion which left him unable to walk properly. We're so pleased with his progress.
It's so wonderful to see the progress little Kasper has made. His spinal operation last December left him unable to use his hind limbs at all. Now, all the hard work he puts in during hydro (plus all the care and attention given to him by his mum and dad) is paying off and we couldn't be happier.
