I have had such a good week we have spent most of our time going to championship dog show all over but it has been so rewarding.
The atmosphere and the quality of these dogs at the shows is second to none and it really is an honour to be in the shows taking part to this high standard.
The work that goes into the training, grooming, feeding and partnership between the dog and handler is amazing the sheer dedication is outstanding.
Ragnar, my Neapolitan mastiff, was amazing I was so impressed with his behaviour he really took it all in his stride. The shows are very busy with hundreds of dogs in very close proximity and can be quite noisy but never the less, his behaviour was outstanding.
I have only had Ragnar 6 months now and he is still only a puppy with loads more growing to do and his training at times has been very up and down due to his stubbornness. This week has proved he has come on so much in a short space of time ļæ¼ļæ¼ļæ¼and I am so proud of him, he has already exceeded what I thought possible of him, due to his late start in life, four months ago ļæ¼I couldnāt even get him in the car, that took hours to correct and now he sleeps in the car for two hour journeys at a time, totally chilled.
I have to thank Mike Evans, Ragnars breeder for allowing me to buy such an outstanding dog.
Ragnar is very special to me for many reasons but his willingness to adapt to different situations is fantastic.
Sherlock, my Bloodhound, died at Christmas from gastric torsion and it was a very upsetting heartbreaking time for me and the rest of my family. Losing something you love at such a young age is devastating and to be honest I was not in a good place. I spent weeks very upset.
Ragnar was a wild card he was head strong, stubborn and sometimes a total pain in the butt, which after losing Sherlock was totally what I needed, I just didnāt know it. My focus went into training him and training classesā¦ hours and hours of working together to get Ragnar where he is today. Ragnar has helped me heal after a very big void, and I will be alway great full to him just for that.
This week Ragnar has won three first places in high breed classes and two best reserve male in two classes.
Which means Ragnar will now have qualified for Crufts 2023!! This alone is a massive achievement but with only six months Training behind him is outstanding.
I am SO SO proud of him, words can not say it enough.
They say that dog is manās best friend but in my case my baby lion Ragnar is my best friend x
