Dreams really do come true ...
When my darling Rottweiler Amber was diagnosed with bilateral elbow arthritis at 8, I was told her quality of life would quickly decline. She’d have to take medication for life and would be left with a permanent and painful lameness. She was such a happy, sociable dog, I was saddened to think Amber’s life would change so dramatically. I knew medication could only do so much so I researched and found a fantastic hydrotherapy centre. I was a bit sceptical but after a nervous first session we never looked back. Her lameness quickly reduced and I was thrilled to get my happy girl back for several more years. I felt so inspired during that time, that I retrained as a hydrotherapist and was lucky enough to then work part time at the centre that continued to treat Amber. The dream was always to leave my city job behind me and open my own centre, so with the help and support of my family and Amber's journey to inspire me, I did just that and have now opened Motion Pet Rehabilitation in Lingfield, Surrey, offering professional hydrotherapy and other rehabilitation services for pets.
If you have a cat or dog that is recovering from injury or surgery, has a life long condition such as arthritis or is approaching its senior years and finding life tougher, hydrotherapy could be the answer. Hydrotherapy is a water based treatment that works gently to rehabilitate joints. Think of it as a controlled form of swimming, which takes place in a heated pool or on an aquatic treadmill and can can help in a variety of ways. It can tone, rebuild and strengthen lost muscle, aid with stiffness and sore weak joints, aid with neurological conditions, and play a vital role in improving mental wellbeing in convalescing and senior animals. It can also help slow the progression of some symptoms of degenerative conditions and is a good option for weight management, as your pet can build fitness and lose weight without putting excess pressure on weakened joints.
Whether your pet is a small or large breed, a new pup, or an old timer, we will consider treating all cases and temperaments.
