Today is Guinea Pig Appreciation Day!
Share your photos of your piggy friends and tell us about them.
These lovely ladies belong to our colleague Heather, from left to right we have Billie, Bronwyn, Bowie, BrontΓ« and Beatrix.
Very relevant to what we have been posting about, today a tick was found on a colleagues dog. Here's a wee video of how she dealt with it
Remember to check your animals if they have been outside in areas where there could be ticks. Most common areas ticks are found are:
β’face (including around the eyes)
β’ears
β’under collars
β’chest/armpits
β’paws (including between toes)
β’nether regions
Here's a video of one of our colleagues demonstrating how to check a dog for ticks.
We have new snuffle mats that have just arrived in store. If you have never heard or used a snuffle mat here are just a few reasons they can be useful.
- like slow feeders they prevent dogs wolfing their food down
-encourages them to use natural behaviour in sniffing food out
- good mental enrichment to help tire dogs mentally, great for dogs who may be on limited exercise for health issues
-great distraction for dogs to help calm them down
Here is Logan, who usually finishes his breakfast in about a minute, showing how effective a snuffle can be.
