Top tips for keeping your dog safe during the snow ❄🌬💚

Snow 🥶
Snow can be both unusual and exciting, so make sure you keep your dogs on leads when walking in parks/woods and if you do let them off that it is safe to do so.

Antifreeze ❌
This is very harmeful for dogs, so keep out and reach and ensure any spillages are cleaned up straight away

After walks 🦮
Wipe paws, legs and tum. Grit and dampness irritate skin

Play games indoors 🥳
Indoor games like hide and seek, or 'find it', are fun and mentally stimulating for your dog. Hide a toy for them to search for and play with them as a reward when they find them.

Keep your dog safe and warm in the cold 🥶❄️

Some dogs grow thick furry coats all year round, so as the weather gets colder, consider letting your dog's fur grow longer to give them added protection.

Some shorter-haired breeds and puppies may need a little bit of help staying warm, so need to wear a coat when it gets cold. A cold dog is an unhappy dog, so it's important to keep them as cosy as possible.

If you're walking in the dark, it's also important to make sure your dog is visible to other dog owners and people in cars. A coat with high-visibility reflective features, a flashing collar or light attachment, will help keep them safe and seen. Just make sure anything you buy is suitable for your dog and they’re comfortable wearing it.

Wearing a coat or light attachment is a new experience for some dogs and needs to be introduced in a gradual and positive way. This will help your dog enjoy wearing their equipment for winters to come.

We have to introduce you to 10 week old Benji 💚

He was a very brave boy coming in today for his 1st vaccinations, he also managed to sneak in some cuddles with our wonderful nurse and her daughter.

We cant wait to welcome him along to puppy pre school next week and watch him grow 💚

We are proud to do all our own out of hours emergency work which will be carried out at our Launceston practice.

We are very fortunate to have an amazing team of experienced vets and veterinary nurses across both practices, supported by knowledgeable, helpful and friendly reception teams.

We do our very best to provide an exceptional level of veterinary care for our patients whilst taking into account the wishes and budget of our clients.

If you do find you need urgent need for veterinary help outside normal working hours, you can simply phone our Liskeard or Launceston number and you will be able to speak to one of our vets who will then provide advice or arrange an emergency consultation as needed.

A catastrophic landslide has destroyed the veterinary clinic at the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programmes Centre. The vets have nothing. OVAID are fundraising to replace & deliver everything the vet team need to continue to save orangutan lives.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the heavy snow, we have decided to open the Liskeard branch between 2pm and 4pm in order to ensure the safety of our staff and clients with potential worsening driving conditions

We would advise any clients that are due to come to the practice today, to please only do so if it is safe to travel.

We will also have limited staffing today at both branches, so please be patient with us if we are taking longer to answer the phones.

SINGLE USE TABLET BLISTER PACKS
CAN YOU HELP PLEASE?

Every year millions of empty packs are thrown away at home and
end up in landfill or, more likely, incinerated causing air pollution
which harms health and damages the environment.

Because of the way they are made they are difficult to recycle but
the plastic and aluminium are too valuable to waste.

The UK Government has banned certain single use plastics and
we are asking Parliament and pharmaceutical companies to
introduce a take back and recycling scheme. Eventually we need
new plastic free packaging.

100,000 ‘signatures’
are required to have a chance of this request being debated in the
House of Commons and we need your help to spread the message.
