Polmartin Riding is a British Horse Society Approved Riding School and Training Centre in Cornwall.

Horse riding and lessons are available all year, whatever the weather. We are situated in around sixty acres of unspoilt Cornish landscape, offering stunning 360 degree views of the sea, moors and farmland. Our treks wind through fields, lakes, streams, woods and hillsides resulting in a unique and fabulous ride, in safety and without the worry of meeting any traffic. If you prefer to learn to rid

e or improve your skills our riding lessons are varied and are matched to your needs and ability. Abilities of all ages, young or old are catered for, from beginner through to intermediate and advanced rider. As one of the few BHS Approved Riding Schools and Place to Train in the region, you can be assured that all lessons are of the highest standard. We are able to train riders in a variety of disciplines as well as working towards formal BHS qualifications. Our Saturday Club as well as Holiday Activity Days are for the young rider who really wants to learn about horses, not just riding. They will enjoy rides, lessons and games as well as learning about looking after horses. Young riders booking for 5 days or more can even work towards achieving their BHS Progressive Riding Tests.

Thank heavens License Inspection was yesterday not today. All good passed with flying colours. The sun shone yesterday and so no wet horses to trot up. Thank you to Mel who helped me all day to get ready. Without her I think 🤔 I would have cracked under the stress !!!!!

Wow great work here yesterday by a team of film makers using Polmartin as their location. Got all they wanted done in a day !!! Oh and a bit at night. Superb weather helped. Swashbuckling Cornwall Henry as the Knight looked awesome. Great team .

It is when people ask me how good my horses are !!!!!!! See for yourself is all I can say. Fed up of having to justify myself and them . Only bred around 65 horses and ponies over the last 30 years here on the farm. And I can still be riding fit at 66. Thank heavens.

Hala was so good last night to ride. We are so lucky to have 8 km of tracks to ride around our farm. I never ever get bored riding out seeing such beautiful countryside. We are lucky to live in Cornwall.

Gosh Polmartin Prince George looked good this year at Royal Cornwall in the main arena. Jade rode him so well. Looking forward to next year now and taking our homebred horses out and about more often.

Oh well Socrates at the final hour got overlooked for a bigger horse for a film at Boconnoc.
He was annoyed as he knew he looked awesome 😎 but maybe just as well , he thought 🤔 as he did not know the rider. At least in this practice run he was ridden by the mad woman!!!!

Delivered Junior today to a good friend of mine who rides him so well. His new best friend Thomas is the spitting image of him except smaller !!! He will be spoilt rotten. So let's hope he behaves and gives Mel and her family years of fun, five star home.

Found this lovely photo as well just now. Orbit and Bracken for a German TV Show. Taken on the farm. I know I do not have a helmet on, it was a stunt. But thank you everyone for noticing. The Actors all wore helmets.

Thank you all for all your presents, kind words and for making yesterday so much fun for everyone 😄. The Grand National was a brilliant idea Eloise and Lottie nailed it with Jade and Hugo close second.

Just to remind everyone Hugo is leaving tomorrow...party at 4-5 pm and everyone is invited. Hopefully see loads of people here at the farm.

I'm Jane, the owner and head instructor here.

Ever since I can remember I've had a passion for horses - riding them, training, breeding, everything. And when I started Polmartin Riding in 2004 I was able to fulfil a lifelong wish to help others share my devotion and experiences.

Since the early days we have established ourselves as one of the leading equestrian centres in fabulous Cornwall. As one of the few British Horse Society Approved Riding Schools and Training Centres in the region our guests can be assured of the highest standards of riding, tuition and of course horse welfare and safety.

Of course our horses are our greatest asset and my greatest love. I'm so proud of our bloodline starting with my foundation Arab, Kowloon. And we now have his sons, daughters, grandsons and even great-grandsons and daughters. And if you can ride, then you'll be able to find out just how great they are.

After our great horses, perhaps our greatest feature is the fantastic trekking we offer along miles of our own private tracks and trails. All completely free of traffic and with totally unspoilt views of the Cornish countryside.

Thanks to this and our great team we're immensely proud to have been awarded Bronze in the Cornwall Tourism Awards for best Active and Sporting Experience. Together with our many 5 star TripAdvisor reviews means that visitors can be sure of a memorable ride. And it doesn't matter whether you're an experienced rider looking for a challenge, or a family of complete beginners looking for a holiday adventure - you're all welcome.

For several years I've been riding in films as well as providing hero horses for many TV and film productions here in Cornwall. This experience has lead to us offering training courses for actors wanting to increase their portfolio with riding skills. Some of our actors have appeared in Game of Thrones, Poldark and many other well know productions. And our courses are now recognised by the Spotlight casting agency.

We are exceptionally lucky to live and work in such a beautiful part of the country. Now guests can share in the beauty and tranquility of our surroundings and stay in one of our fantastic, purpose built Shepherd's Huts. Whether you want to come on a course to improve your skills or just a short break away they are the perfect horsey retreat.
