Thats the last competition of the 2024 flyball season!
This year has seen:
Several division and league wins including bronze cup at the UKFL champs π
Several dogs debut in open and foundations π€©
several new dogs and handlers have joined the team π₯³
And 1 retirement π€
Now brings us to winter training and letβs see what 2025 has in store for us!
Great day working the dogs further back from the box after their long winter break!
Thank you to Fast Forward for your help π
Great first day back at training after the winter break! The dogs were fresh and ready, and we made some great progress with our chasers.. But today's focus was box turns π€π»
Indoor champs debrief π©Άπ€
Finesse B (Vesta, Glimmer, Carbon, Spitfire, Worm) - Double Elimination:
First race was against Extreme Racers Flyball Teams, they pushed us to 5 legs and we somehow managed to take the win.
Second race was against Raptors Flyball , Vesta blew his pads and decided he'd had enough of running in π€£ So a last minute decision was made to throw Worm in the deep end (which was never in the plan) but too little too late and we lost the race.
Third race was against Watson's Flyball Team who were so consistent but we somehow managed to pull it together for our second win!
Our last race was against Ricochet Flyball Team where we hit our new seed time of 14.79, but it became the battle of the reruns and they won! Awesome racing though.
Congratulations to Aces High Flyball Team for their unbeaten win in Division 1 and Raptors for coming second!
Thankful to Darryl & Glimmer for stepping in and meaning we could have fun and actually race, she's a little machine and your starts aren't bad either π
And we're so proud of everything that team achieved, it was thrown together 2 weeks before with 2 training sessions. So it's back to the grind over winter and we can't wait to see what we can achieve next year.
Finesse C (Limit, Kenko, Godfrey, Ged, Zorro) - Round Robin:
Winner's of Division 4!!!
Traditional round robin racing, results as follows..
1st race - Win against Primed
2nd race - Win against Carry on's Flyball Team
3rd race - Win against Hampshire Harriers
4th race - Loss against Geordie Titans
5th race - Win against Molten Magnets Flyball Team (Marvels)
This team have ran so clean all year with so many wins at our normal shows! It's a shame it wasn't the original team with Gee & Lottie out on injuries but Limit & Godfrey stepped up to help finish what the rest of the team started! An emotional last race for Zorro as we took the win for the div (I even saw Danny shed a tear), what a way to end a racing career! And we won't tal
Well what a day for Finesse at their first champs!
Goose & Runa absolutely smashed their foundation singles and exceeded all expectations. These girls have not been the easiest to train with the issues we've had with wanting to interfere. And with two rings the atmosphere was so intense, yet they still manage to complete. A huge shout out to Lou who has worked her butt off with Ru, it's all coming together now!
Finesse C were next to post a new time to qualify for Sundays racing! Ken got another pb of 4.27 π₯³ Godfrey throwing some 3.7s on the clock. A shout out to Limit as it's her 7th birthday! Ged being a super boy with ball carriage, and Zorro enjoying his last legs before his retirement!
Finesse B finally qualified for Sundays racing with a time of 14.87! We expected nothing from these dogs, Glimmers 3rd time lining up with her brothers and all 4 dogs in a brand new line up. Most people will have seen the battle we've had with Vesta, almost 2 years it's taken for him to complete a full day's racing and not run out, huge achievement today! Carbon sitting in 3.5s, chipping away every show time wise! Spit being Mr Consistent as always and for once, not spitting π But the absolute shout out of the day is for Worm, who was thrown in the absolute deep end, being a green dog who has only ever run for Danny, just no words π€π©Ά
We have worked so hard as a team and it has been so nice to run our dogs properly and have fun. Whatever happens on Sunday it doesn't matter, we have no expectations. But we've achieved everything we needed too today, anything else is a bonus.
I will just leave this video here.. *cough* bad Darryl *cough*
Vesta is back πͺπΌπ©Άπ€π©Ά

Great one day hosting. Loved the variety of racing options. Hereβs the only pairs video we have. Annoyingly spat ball but still managed several low 7βs clean. Vesta and Fury posted some awesome times all day π
Day one closes of our first time hosting as Finesse.
Thank you to all the teams who travelled and entered the staggered day. We heard a lot of positives from other teams about their day. Thank you to Bhav and Sharon (one-armed) judged all day between them and saved us a lot of headaches.
From our own view for once we can say across the board we had a great day.
Babies were all there for ring experience and to show us what needs work. Gold star goes to the super toy poodles who are new to the world of flyball but coming on amazingly. Summit is now doing things she has never been able to manage so it might look a long way from complete but itβs massive from where sheβs come from.
Defy is making progress every show she even got to take a chunk out of Martyn for a reward.
C - coming second in division 2 after a close last race with Molten.
B - Winning division 1, setting a new team best of 15.98. First time out with finesse properly for Kai and Godfrey who exceeded all expectations. Spit was more consistent in time and ball holding. Limit was a start dog machine sitting in 3.7 the majority of the day.
A - only ran the 3 boys today whilst we decide on plan for the last spot. They today showed they can race, hold technique, hold balls and actually put it all together in multiple runs. The video below was a 10.78 with room. This was one of many good runs they managed today so we are finally starting to see what we knew they could do. Very exciting π€©
