Thank you to extremely critical for an awesome show as usual. We had a lovely weekend camping and a good laugh as always! A little round up of the weekend..

Saturday saw our B team with a second place and a shiny new seed time of 15.81! New pb for Limit of 3.68, Spitfire was as consistent as ever deviating between 0.08 all day, Kai & Godfrey getting their with technique in there good lanes, more composure needed in their bad lanes! Foundations absolutely smashed and all the training in our new barn is paying off. Defy chipping away every show with a new pb of 3.59 and running perfect all day, Goose made her debut which is a big deal with her strong eye, running 3 races clean 🤣 Super toy poodle Polly smashing it out the park running 5.2s! Glitch, Runa & Coco making huge progress in the ring environment.

Sunday saw our C team which started off so well on invidual dogs times, but we had to withdraw in the second race due to handler illness. But this meant cricket got his time to shine and exceeded all expectations, running in open and even popping out a few 3.7s! A team did well until Fury got to race his friend Ciel, he doesn't like people going faster than him 😉 So that saw us down to 3 dogs, Vesta Carbon & Worm who gelled as a 3 and posted some good times on the clock with balls! Worm still being a very green dog held her own as the A team height dog!

Nice days racing at Newark thanks to High Flyers Flyball Club, lovely chilled day with nice weather ☀️

A team looking nice, finally managed a clean time of 15.00 - but loads more promise throughout the day - just need to gel as a team now 😁

B team had to pull due to injuries

C team smashed it again winning Division 3! And a new seed time of 17.45 so double win 🏆

Ring time saw Defy, Goose, Runa & Cricket having a play. Defy finally having some composure against the other lane, Goose looking fab, Runa holding her head together and smashing full runs with balls with no recent training, and Cricket doing the same and ended on some fun with James 'helping' run him!

Even managed time to walk the non-racings dogs for an ice cream - lovely end to the day.

So we can finally say that the training venue is ready for use 🥳🥳🥳

Had our first mini session to test everything.

It’s taken blood, sweat and tantrums but between us and Storm Chasers Flyball Team we’ve done it.

It’s fully matted with tuff spun and ready to use. Has 62ft of runback and as you can see is covered in animal grade plastic so heat in the summer won’t be as much of a problem as standard tunnels.

There will be opportunities for other teams to use it so message us to chat about the options, we hope other teams can benefit like we will.

Day one closes of our first time hosting as Finesse.

Thank you to all the teams who travelled and entered the staggered day. We heard a lot of positives from other teams about their day. Thank you to Bhav and Sharon (one-armed) judged all day between them and saved us a lot of headaches.

From our own view for once we can say across the board we had a great day.

Babies were all there for ring experience and to show us what needs work. Gold star goes to the super toy poodles who are new to the world of flyball but coming on amazingly. Summit is now doing things she has never been able to manage so it might look a long way from complete but it’s massive from where she’s come from.

Defy is making progress every show she even got to take a chunk out of Martyn for a reward.

C - coming second in division 2 after a close last race with Molten.

B - Winning division 1, setting a new team best of 15.98. First time out with finesse properly for Kai and Godfrey who exceeded all expectations. Spit was more consistent in time and ball holding. Limit was a start dog machine sitting in 3.7 the majority of the day.

A - only ran the 3 boys today whilst we decide on plan for the last spot. They today showed they can race, hold technique, hold balls and actually put it all together in multiple runs. The video below was a 10.78 with room. This was one of many good runs they managed today so we are finally starting to see what we knew they could do. Very exciting 🤩

We took a lot away from our last show of the year. There’s plenty to work on now over winter. We have a lot of potential in the dogs we have so time to get it all fixed properly. Put some real training in over winter and comeback next year and see what we can do.

Katy Kaylor as always has given the kick and support we needed to remember where we need to take the team.

Sorry we've been quiet, after a difficult start to the year with getting the dogs back into the competition scene. After our last show in the beginning on July we decided to give the dogs a little break and get back to training, as well with Shifts pups it's been pretty busy! We have also gained a few new members so today was about integrating everyone and making the most of the environment

Finesse A - We actually didn't withdraw in the first race which is a result! Just a few spits and early's that stopped us getting that desired seed time

Finesse B - We pulled from racing to focus on technique with the new dogs and Worm who was super and held her own against the big dogs

Foundations - The not so babies smashed it, starting to handle the atmosphere and posting some nice times

All in all a very successful day, thank you Funky Fidos for hosting. Oh and the pups were so well behaved and had an absolute blast 😊

The Finesse racing dogs take huge advantages from all of the facilities, we’ve seen the times reflect it.

Big discounts also available for flyball teams. Swim, treadmill and physio all available.

Lovely hot day at Halefield today. We expected to go WFC with Finesse A as we haven’t trained since Peterborough but this was the plan. That way we can work on the next steps to get the boys clean.

It did mean we could bring the tugs back (they’ve been out for a month to get some ball re enforcement done), now the turns are sharper and we had mostly clean runs. Hopefully that will bring it all back together now.

What we did see though was some damn fast times. Shout out to Vesta who smashed out an amazing/incredible line to line. Carbon and Fury posted great times too and Limit was her usual machine self, getting faster overall times each show.

Worm, Defy, Cricket, Siren and Veng had a foundations spot. Only Worm and Defy ran full course. The others are still at box, but Siren managed a full run in the last race of the day!

This is only the second time Worm has ran a full course and from 10ft was showing some great times. Defy being her usual psychotic self but considering how crazy she gets she can still get the job done.

Thank you Martyn McInulty, Bhav and anyone else who jumped in to help through the day.

All in all a good day, and once it all happens it will be great to let them run to their potential.

So after a lot of planning and help from North West Breeding Services we are cooking some Rio x Shift puppies.

We have already in place a list of names interested. However we do always welcome anyone that might be interested to come forward as we don’t create a list on order but instead what we feel is best for the puppy in question.

The litter has been scanned as large so we aim to give as much notice as possible to anyone that might want to enquire. Plus we do have future plans that might be of more interest.

We have a group which we will tag in the comment section, so add yourself to the group and get in touch with any questions you may have. We aren’t going to go on about each parent and how good the litter will be but there’s enough knowledge and links to previous litters that speak for themselves.

Both parents have full DNA panel and relevant health tests.

Another frustrating day in many cases. Took the decision to go NFC. There’s still work to do, it’s all there for them just a few lapses in concentration to run out on return.

However to draw some positives there were balls most of the day which has been a problem recently.

Fury and Vesta individually sat between 3.45 and 3.55 all day. Carbon ran a lot of 3.5’s as his confidence grows.

Limit was a machine as always.

It’s messy for now but keep plodding away and clean runs will come soon enough.

A day of progress and a great show. Still tonnes to work on. We thought the youngsters were ready but still not quite there in the hype of the day. Ended the day WFC and wings. Across the day we saw everything we wanted to see but just not at once. The racing edge these dogs have just takes over and they forget.

Faye Wildish was our hands on loan and we couldn’t have done it without her. Shannon was a god send too.

This is one of the last races of the day. Technique is there. The times are there, and actually had times quicker during the day.

Limit was a machine. 3.70 clean and a lot more 3.7’s.

It will all come with time.

Part 2 of the very exciting news...

Today we have had installed an underwater treadmill, courtesy of Hydro Physio 😁

Another step in this crazy journey, and another thing I would have never believed to happen this time last year.

This enables us to take larger breeds and offer different treatment methods to suit each dog for a huge variety of rehab/treatment and sports/fitness needs!

We still have some work to do to get the room ready but we hope this won’t be too long. Don’t forget consent forms are needed so if you want to get ahead of the game ask and we can make sure you are ready to go as soon as we are 🙂

(Please excuse the state of the room, hopefully building work can finally commence and get this centre finally finished!)

Probably the best training session to date, sometimes it all has to go to crap before it gets better! The dogs haven't trained since our last show, they had a chiro and then they've been allowed to rest.

✔️ Limit, Tactic, Fury, Carbon, Vesta, Bryan - Full runs head to heads with full ball carriage and smashing out some incredible times
✔️ Veng, Defy, Siren & Cricket - 1 jump box back with another lane running showing some super nice technique
✔️ Summit & Denis - full runs with someone in the other lane (this is a massive deal for Summit so we are so proud of her)
✔️ Worm, Goose & Glitch - transitioned from chute to box and then progressed to box and run back. Super proud of these babies, they've had a long time off and absolutely smashed today!
✔️ Shift - did some very beautiful run backs 👑

Competition review with a difference…….sometimes the flyball world can be full of posts trying to polish a 💩 so here’s some brutal reality.

So remember there were no expectations. Keep reminding yourself of that as you read on…..

Apparently we hadn’t taught anyone to run in their lane. (Apparently running down the opposite lane not going to the box in the wrong lane but then deciding to go to your correct box and then return over the correct jumps is now a thing 🤷🏼‍♂️)

So that quickly meant we weren’t going to even try and correct in race so went NFC or whatever it’s called nowadays 🤭

Anonoyingly though after that and with some gentle reminders Limit, Fury and Vesta soon remember their job. By the end of the day were running confidently and comfortably.

3 dogs above because Tactic came back so well in his first race (considering he hasn’t raced for 4 years) I couldn’t bring myself to associate him with such defiant idiot dogs. Actually they weren’t that bad but it gave us chance to actually focus on them.

Carbon ran with monkeys in a starters team. And was the best he’s ever been. Which is even more annoying because if anyone was going to self implode and lose his brain it would have been him.

So in summary, We had fun doing it differently than planned 🙄🤷🏼‍♂️🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Last training before our team debut next week.

Thank you Monkeys Flyball Teams for giving us some races to put our line up together.

Dogs to debut, one who’s only done a few races before, a seasoned pro and 2 babies in the mix. It’s all going to be about seeing where we are, what we need to fine tune and giving the new dogs the environment experience.

All this in Div 1. We expect nothing so time will tell.
