Summer showing you another way dogs interact with the oils.
You can see lots of fast sniffing, staring at the oil. The quick look round is her glancing at the part of her body that needs it.
An interaction with the oil can be over as quickly as this.
After this she settled to process.
What might you see when your dog is working with a selected oil?
- initial sniff - might be one quick sniff, a long sniff or they may stand or lie inhaling the scent
- a trance like state for a few seconds or longer
- slow blinking and eye movement
- settling down and resting (but not sleeping)
- deep and slow breathing
- walking away and lying down calmly
All of the above are signs the dogs is processsing, taking the scent into their body and sending it where it is needed to heal. This might be over quickly or they may work with it for several minutes. They will tell you when they have had enough.
Here is Fudgr demonstrating how your dog might work with an oil. Notice the eye movement, the looking at me and then at the oil.
Gypsy demonstrating an “I want this oil” reaction!
Watch for the nose butts! She was demanding it!
One of our clients is very excited by his oil delivery ready for his session tomorrow!
Here is Gypsy giving a great example of reactions to the oils. Her nose is going, then her eyes are twitching and then she settles but doesn’t close her eyes and they are still flickering.
After doing a meridian balance assessment, we selected Neroli hydrosol, carrot seed oil and basil essential oil in hemp oil.
Gypsy always has a reaction to neroli, it helped her with grief after Loki. She often looks at me and I feel a deep emotional connection with her.
She wanted neroli and carrot seed together.
This poor little dog is in a foster home having come from a puppy farm.
This is her before and after her first essential oil treatment. What a difference!
This is Summer last night. 12 days since her first botanical session, we’ve done 6 sessions in that time.
She didn’t know what a dog toy was when we got her. She loves a squeaky toy and will retrieve a thrown toy now!
It looks like a quick change but it’s quite intensive treatment. I’m now leaving it a few days between sessions to give her time to process.
Her favourite at the moment is Violet Leaf essential oil diluted in hemp oil.
Plus she’s taken some ylang ylang in hemp oil. She’s gone off Angelica Root now.
This is the magic of botanical self healing, the animal chooses how much of what they need and once it’s done it’s job they go off it!
This morning Summer wanted to lick her selection from my hand. She had violet leaf diluted in hemp oil.
She had selected Violet leaf yesterday and choose the carrier oil too.
This is huge because she doesn’t know hands, unlike lots of puppies she didn’t learn hands feed you. so choosing to lick is a huge step for her.
Then she choose ylang ylang in hemp oil. She didn’t want to ingest this, she wanted to inhale.
Violet leaf is really good for dogs who have moved a lot and have fear.
Ylang ylang is really good for self confidence and self worth.
Hemp is good for anxiety and coat and skin
