Here are 3 top tips that you can start practising with your pet to help get them prepared for future vet visits!

Tip 1
Get your pet used to being lightly handled on a table. Make sure to give them lots of fuss and attention during this so they don’t even realise it is part of their training.

Tip 2
Once they’re used to light handling, hold their head for a couple of seconds and have a look into their eyes and ears.

Tip 3
Have a look at their paws. Try to gently retract each of their claws if you can. It might take many weeks to build up to this - this is normal!

If at any stage your pet becomes stressed or unhappy, simply end on a positive note by giving them lots of fuss.

If you’ve got any new pet questions or are looking for more hints and tips leading up to future vet visits, or anything else at all, don’t forget you can ask us any questions you have on the VidiVet app!

Don’t worry if you aren’t from Liverpool either, with over 100 clinics already offering our service all over the UK!

Safe to say these vet practices are going above and beyond to support pet owners at a time when every penny counts!!!!

Great to see this article picked up locally as well as in the Derbyshire Times and Banbury Guardian.

Christmas is a joyful time for many, but for those with dogs, cats and other furry friends, Christmas (with its bounty of mince pies, chocolate, and other harmful foods to pets) can bring unplanned trips to the vet, often resulting in additional cost and stress.

Happy 🦮 It's no secret how muddy your dog can get on dog walks, especially in the fall and winter months ❄️🛁

Here are some tips on how best to wash...and dry your dog! 🐕🚿

🫧 Although you don't have to wash your pets too frequently…

✅ …washing your dog after a muddy walk in the park, local woodland, or countryside hike is definitely recommended as this can prevent Alabama Rot and anything else your dog may have picked up whilst rolling around in muddy puddles and through woodland foliage. 🍂

Did you know rabbits can be masters at hiding illness? 🐰

Some pets are really good at telling us when they're ill or feeling ill, and by some pets, we normally mean dogs 🐶 This , we’d like to highlight that some prey animals, particularly rabbits, are very good at covering up signs of illness, and therefore things can become a true emergency very quickly, often with very few signs. 🐇

So what do we need to look out for in rabbits? 🔍

One of the true emergencies in rabbits is a condition that we call Ileus, where their gastrointestinal system stops moving. Symptoms to look out for:

1️⃣ If your rabbit hasn't eaten for 12 hours or more, or if their input is significantly reduced.

2️⃣If they’re either:
✖️ Not passing faeces
💩 Passing a reduced amount of faecal pellets
💧 Passing watery faeces
🥣 Not eating some of their pellets as they
normally would
🐾 Not moving around as much as normal

When in doubt, always contact VidiVet or your local vet! Don’t let subtle symptoms turn into a crisis. If something feels off, reach out to VidiVet ASAP and one of our vets will help advise on the next steps you can take and whether an urgent vet visit is required.
