Here are 3 top tips that you can start practising with your pet to help get them prepared for future vet visits!
Tip 1
Get your pet used to being lightly handled on a table. Make sure to give them lots of fuss and attention during this so they don’t even realise it is part of their training.
Tip 2
Once they’re used to light handling, hold their head for a couple of seconds and have a look into their eyes and ears.
Tip 3
Have a look at their paws. Try to gently retract each of their claws if you can. It might take many weeks to build up to this - this is normal!
If at any stage your pet becomes stressed or unhappy, simply end on a positive note by giving them lots of fuss.
If you’ve got any new pet questions or are looking for more hints and tips leading up to future vet visits, or anything else at all, don’t forget you can ask us any questions you have on the VidiVet app!

So what exactly can you expect when you go into the vet to get your cat chipped? Read below for the low down: #CheckTheChip
When a vet scans a pet’s microchip, they use a handheld scanner (like this one which emits a low-frequency radio wave. This scanner activates the chip, causing it to read and display their unique identification number on the screen.
Your vet can use this number to look up the pet’s information in a database, which includes details like the pet’s name and contact information.
- This helps reunite lost pets with their owners and ensures our pets receive proper care.
It’s natural to have questions and concerns about your pet before going into the vet, as we pet parents want to be informed and in the know about our pets, they’re part of the family after all!
..and with the new cat microchipping laws coming into place on the 10th of June, you, a friend or a family member might be considering taking a cat in to get chipped!
That’s where VidiVet comes in! If you are ever worried about bringing nervous cats into the practice or reassuring your own concerns, drop us a message on the VidiVet app and one of our amazing vets will be happy to help

Pupdate incoming! 🐾 Getting to know each other👇
As a small puppy (like Bram here) don’t worry about teaching them things like ‘sit’ and other commands.
Set aside a small amount of time every day (they have a short attention span!) to just sit with them and build a bond.
🐾 There is plenty of time for learning! 🐾
What you should be looking to learn:
✅ Their personality 🐶
✅ Their cues for going to the toilet 💩
✅ What they like and don’t like 👍👎
Follow these tips with your puppy to build a strong relationship with your puppy 🐾
