Following on from our recent announcement about a price increase across the whole of the PR.

This is how it will affect the hydrotherapy centre:

10 block will now be £375.00

PAYG will now be £41.50

We hope all our lovely loyal customers, past, present and future understand why we are having to do this!

We are desperate to be able to keep offering all our services and this is the only way we can do that!

We look forward to continuing to treat all those lovely doggies and helping them back on the road to recovery

RIP your Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

As it’s not feasible for us to close our doors today as a sign of respect to her Majesty, due to us having already committed to care for peoples pets a very long time ago, business: Hotel, Daycare and Hydrotherapy will continue as normal here at the PR and all staff who have to work bank holidays and work very hard at that, can show their respect in their own way at a convenience time.

We hope everyone understands our reasons not to close and respects our decision.

The Pawfect Retreat

This little whirlwind is the most beautiful Skye.

Skye came into us for her first appointment on 23rd April after undergoing spinal surgery for grade 4 IVDD ☹️
This is a horrible condition that is prone in this particular breed. A lot of owners sadly don’t even know about this condition until it happens 😢

Skye was 4 wks post surgery and was in a bit of a sorry state 🥺
However she was the most loving and affectionate little girl and we took to each other straight away……. And so our hydro rehabilitation journey began…….

Skye had significant muscle wastage, which naturally happens while she is crate rested, she was off loading from the left hind and putting all her weight through her fore limbs.
She was very leak.

Skye worked so hard every week in her hydro sessions, and she become more and more of a feisty little character!
She is a little fighter and nothing was going to keep her down long!

10 sessions on, and almost 3 months later Skye is fully rehabilitated and a discharge case!
She has come to the end of her hydro journey and I couldn’t be happier at the progress she has made!
She is back to her normal self (although her mum has said she is better than she was before the IVDD incident 🤣🤣) and is oblivious to what has happened and is enjoying life to the full!

Sadly this is a condition that can reoccur 😢 Skye is a lucky little girl with wonderful owners who want to give Skye the best chance at a ‘normal’ life and have decided they wish to continue her hydro journey as a maintenance case!
I am more than happy that I get to continue to see this little face once a month 🥰🥰

Way to go my little ‘pocket rocket’!!!

IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) is one of the most commonly seen neurological disorders in dogs.
IVDD is a spinal disorder that’s following from the herniating of an intervertebral disc inside an afflicted dog. When the intervertebral disc herniates, it can result in concussion or compression of the spinal cord, causing lasting & debilitating damage.
There are two types of IVDD; Hansen type I & II

If this condition is caught early enough dogs can recover with either conservative management or surgical intervention. Sadly some dogs aren’t always that lucky and can be left with restricted mobility or can suffer paralysis.
This is a condition that owners need to be vigilant and observant about and take action at the first sign.

Breeds that are prone to this condition: dachshund, French bulldog, beagle, shih-tzu, corgis, GSD, retrievers,dobermans to name a few!

Skye was one of the lucky ones ❤️❤️

Meet Floss

Today was Floss’s first hydrotherapy session after recovering from a double break in her radius & ulna back in March.

Floss’s exercise has been restricted since her surgery but is now ready to start her rehabilitation- but only if it means she can be carried around afterwards like the queen she is 👑

She has stole a few hearts on arriving at the centre today 😍

After a couple of days putting it off I realised it was never going to get easier.

Red, passed over the rainbow bridge 🌈

One thing I have came to realise with German Shepards, they love to swim & on Wednesday lunchtime Red came in full of beans with a big smile on his face and enjoyed what I didn’t know at the time, would be his final swim!

Red has been part of our center since July 2020 coming initially for fitness at nearly 9years old.

You’re cheeky nature will be missed Red 💔

Good luck to our gorgeous boy Zaiden who is competing at today

Zaiden has been coming to us since September to help develop his hindlimb muscle mass, after a partial cruciate tear during lockdown.

Zaiden is competing today for his 3rd champion certificate, so good luck to our boy today!!

So the hydro had its regular deep clean today and Elfo was on hand to help with the extremely important water test! He loved using all the equipment and said it felt like being back at science class in elf school - science was his all time favourite subject!!!

Elfo has his COVID booster today but he's had the shakes this morning! We've given him some VinceTheVet drops in his coffee this morning, and he can save some for those New Year fireworks too!

MASKS

Unfortunately due to the latest Covid-19 trends, we are having to re-introduce masks. Unless you are exempt, we do ask that you please wear a mask to your dog's appointment. Our therapists will be doing their part but will have to remove them when they are inside the pool.

After his swim and shower, Elfo was feeling the winter chill. We have dry robes for dogs but unfortunately none small enough for little Elfo - he'll just have to make do!
