Red light therapy is highly beneficial for dogs due to its ability to pe*****te deep into muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones. It promotes a strong healing response by the mitochondria or sometimes known as the “Power Generator” of cells creating energy within the body from the targeted wavelengths of light. This reaction within the body has been proven to speed up@cellular repair; spurring healing in the skin and muscle tissues.

Very interesting post on soft tissue injuries! A condition that needs to be taken very serious!
As well as treating these injuries with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy can also be very beneficial.

For all hydrotherapy enquiries please contact us!

This is my most hated term in veterinary medicine.....

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard people call or speak to clients and say good news it's JUST a soft tissue injury. Yet soft tissue injuries in the human world have people signed off work, athletes ending careers and other life changing effects.

So where is the difference in our pets?
It simply comes down to communication,They cannot complain how much it's hurting them or how their sleep has been affected. So it's our job as Pet parents to advocate for them and notice changes in their behaviour and mobility.

Now onto the slightly scientific part as to why we should take these injuries seriously...

Soft tissues include Muscles, Fascia , tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, Lymph, fat, fibrous tissue and synovial membranes.

A good deal of these tissues contain nociceptors (which are specialised nerve endings that signal pain) so we know they cause our patient to feel pain.

We also know that they have a blood supply which when damaged causes a bruise and anyone who's had a bruise knows that they can be painful.

Some of these tissues also play a functional role in movement and injury to them will have a long lasting effect on the functionality and durability of that area. As well as making the area more prone to long term disease processes such as Osteoarthritis.

This is why, I often say physiotherapy is for pets of any age, it might be a puppy who ran into a tree or an elderly cat who needs a bit more support.

It's time to change the narrative on soft tissue injuries and help our pets live functional, happy, pain free lives!!

Following on from our recent announcement about a price increase across the whole of the PR.

This is how it will affect the hydrotherapy centre:

10 block will now be £375.00

PAYG will now be £41.50

We hope all our lovely loyal customers, past, present and future understand why we are having to do this!

We are desperate to be able to keep offering all our services and this is the only way we can do that!

We look forward to continuing to treat all those lovely doggies and helping them back on the road to recovery

Thanks
The PR management team 🐶🐶

RIP your Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

As it’s not feasible for us to close our doors today as a sign of respect to her Majesty, due to us having already committed to care for peoples pets a very long time ago, business: Hotel, Daycare and Hydrotherapy will continue as normal here at the PR and all staff who have to work bank holidays and work very hard at that, can show their respect in their own way at a convenience time.

We hope everyone understands our reasons not to close and respects our decision.
