Katie here - I just love Bella’s expression here 😂 after her groom her loves to roll all over valerian root and here her face just says “mine” as she lies over her favourite herbal treat 😊 No one is allowed near the valerian root clearly!

She gets groomed every 6 weeks as she is prone to itchy skin otherwise. She loves being brushed and having chin rubs and her ears cleaned. She’s less keen on having her claws and trouser area cleaned which seems totally fair to me. Her human has very delicate skin though so her claws need to be kept in check and she’s a bit messy with her litter tray if her back end gets too fluffy 🫣

Chloe here: How cute is Maddox 😻 I saw him for a groom today. I started with the wide tooth comb to check through his fur for knots and also removing that shedding fur. I gave his tummy a trim to help him keep cool as the weather gets warmer, when it came to giving his back end a trim he was not impressed and definitely let us know it, but we got it done and then we let him go. Afterwards he got on the back of the couch to chill

Katie here - Puss is an elderly cat with some health issues that I’ve been seeing for grooming for a few sessions now. She’s still not the biggest fan overall but trusts that I’m here to help and she feels better afterwards. She curls up in my lap now and I have a job moving her when I’m done 💜 she doesn’t go far afterwards either and comes for fusses until she gets her valerian root treat 🌿

She’s not the best at grooming herself any more so gets a lot of stuck fur in her coat that needs gently combing out. Now we have a regular schedule the knots and mats are kept to a minimum and I can get all the little snags out of her back legs as she stretches them out for me 🥰 she has her claws trimmed and her sanitary area along with a good ear and eye clean.

Chloe here: How gorgeous is Norman 😍 I met him and his brother today and they had some of the loudest purrs I've heard. I gave him a quick comb before moving on to trim his back end. This is to help him keep it clean while using the litter tray. I trimmed his claws and the fluff on the underside of his paws because he skids in the house and gets litter stuck in it bless him.

At Team Kat Lady we have an enthusiasm for animals that runs deeper than just our jobs.
All of us not only work with cats but we also volunteer our time helping animals.

Tails Animal Welfare is one particular non-profit charity we work with a lot. It was setup by a wonderful group of local animal lovers who Team Kat Lady feel privileged to support and count as friends.

Sadly this wonderful charity has had to temporarily close its doors to any new intakes as adoptions are so slow and the sheer number of cats needing help and vet care is so high 💔

We see the love our fantastic customers have for cats on a daily basis. We know you care as much as we do!

We are kindly requesting for your help supporting this wonderful charity with its invaluable and tireless work helping our beloved furry friends.

Some of the ways you can help are:

🐱 making a donation through their website
https://www.tailsanimalwelfare.com/donate-tails-animal-welfare/

🐱 following them on socials
https://www.facebook.com/share/1ZEh8m8vie/?mibextid=LQQJ4d

🐱sharing their adoption appeals with friends & family

Or do you know any businesses looking to sponsor a fantastic local community cause?!
Please get in touch if you think you can help them with their work saving the lives of countless cats 🐾

Chloe here: As a few clients already know I've been having an issue with my car since last week. I originally had it booked in the garage for tomorrow (Wednesday), but yesterday the problem seemed to get worse so I managed to get it booked into the garage for today. We now know what the problem is and all going well it should get worked on in the morning for me to pick up at some point tomorrow and back to normal for Friday 🤞 In the meantime here is a picture of lovely Walter after his groom recently

Katie here - Lucci is tricky to get a photo of as he loves to roll in valerian root so never keeps still! 💜 He has a sanitary trim and a quick check over but his humans are able to keep his fur in great order between my visits. He has mixed feeling about being groomed but straight after he knows he will get a treat so all is forgiven 🥰

Chloe here: How cute is Bella! She gets her claws done every 8 weeks and for being the smallest cat in the house she makes the most fuss when it's her turn 😂 With the help of her human I'm able to trim her claws rather quickly. After she and her friends were done she let me give her some fuss which was lovely.

This week Chloe had the absolute pleasure of meeting mummy Nessa and her two babies Joey and Frankie. They’ve recently been adopted together which is absolutely wonderful ❤️ they get to share their happy ever after as a family unit!

Joey has longer fur and needed a little tidy up around his bottom. It’s also a great idea to get longer furred cats used to the grooming process at an early age as they will likely need extra help as they get older.

As always Chloe took her magic bag of cat herbs to win the cats over!

We think it did the trick 😻

Katie here - I’ve been grooming Ruby for about 5 years now (she was one of my first clients) and it’s been wonderful watching her come out of her shell. We alternate between claw and sanitary trims and full grooms now she’s getting older. She’s 12 now and needs a little extra help around her back end and hips especially where she isn’t as flexible.

She loves some time with valerian root afterwards for extra relaxation time. She used to run away and hide and now she’s a purring fusspot who puts her bottom in the air during her groom and actively enjoys my company. Patience and trust have gone a long way and it’s been wonderful watching her relax around me 💜

Chloe here: I saw gorgeous Lexi today. In this photo she is showing off one of her many poses for grooming herself. I gave her a good comb with the wide tooth comb (coarse comb) which she loves, today she was giving her human some lovely blinky eyes and purring a little. I gave the fur around her face a trim as she has been getting knotty around there, she gets a regular tummy trim to prevent knitting and I trim around her bum to help her keep it clean. She is great for her groom but she does have a bit of a hiss when it comes to trimming her nails bless her 😂

Chloe here: I saw lovely Ralph today. I gave him some fuss before I started, I gave him a trim around the back end to help him keep that clean and while I was doing that I found some knots on his back legs which I trimmed off with the clippers. I also felt a knot on his shoulder and one in both of his armpits, I used the little white clippers to trim them off and I finished by trimming his claws.

About Me

For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to work with animals, specifically cats. I was brought up in a household with cats and have always felt a special affinity with them and am lucky to have four in my life at the moment. As a teenager I worked in a veterinary practice and spent a summer at Knowsley Safari Park while in sixth form as my childhood dream was to be a vet. I loved the work, but found the sadder aspects more difficult so decided to do my degree in Biochemistry and Neurobiology instead, for which I gained a 2:1. Around 2014 I became quite sick and had to stop working altogether to concentrate on my own health and wellbeing which gave me a chance to really think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

I eased back into work as a cat sitter for The Cat Sit Company (a lot more demanding than I expected!) and dared to dream that I may be able to work with cats as a career after all.... I found that by looking after a range of different breeds, types and ages of cats and engaging with their owners, I became really interested in cat wellness and grooming which is what led me to researching cat grooming as a potential career. It seemed so right for me to study and I’m so excited to finally be doing my dream job. Alongside grooming I’m also studying an advanced diploma in Feline Behaviour to further understand and work with these adorably fascinating creatures. The wellbeing and health of cats will always be a priority and a passion for me and now I am ready to make this my life.

Who knew that ill health could lead to such a complete change happening in my life and that this would turn out in such a positive way, where I get to do what truly makes me happy!
