Gut health is so important for both us and our dogs 🐶
Dogs first ie is a great place to find lots of interesting research especially if you were considering a change over to raw food 😊
ANOTHER STUDY SHOWS FRESH MEAT BETTER FOR THEIR GUT HEALTH
Another dry v raw comparison. Another win for biologically appropriate raw dog food.
It was a look-back at 95 client-owned dogs in a vet clinic - 48 with chronic enteropathy (CE, gut disease) and 47 without (the control group).
They found that a diet containly mainly meat was protective of CE (as was zero carbohydrates and a meal with more than 14% water).
Link in comments.
This builds on the study released in Nature last year that found raw fed dogs suffer less gut disease.
I think the score is around 6-0 now for these comparisons. That is, ZERO studies indicate high-carb dry food is actually good for anything in dogs or cats.
***
If your dog is suffering bad gut disease there is a process when changing them to real food. This is important as sometimes, particularly in bad cases, simply shifting them to a new food may not work as well as you'd hoped. We liken it to buying a new car but driving it on a bad road. You must fix the road first if you want the car to work. Below is how to do it. We call it the ReSEG solution. 13 years doing this tells us it absolutely works for the majority. If it doesn't work to fix your dog's recurring gut issues we will give you your money back instantly. That's the deal.

I really, really dislike memes like this 😠
They depict how puppies are roughly handled when they have something we don’t want them to have.
Hands 🖐🤚 appear from out of nowhere, grabbing the puppy by the mouth, probably with some telling off or commotion 😤
When this keeps happening to them, the puppy learns not to trust hands and that’s when nipping, biting, and jumping up can become a little bit extreme 🐶
Eventually, just the sight of you can create a feeling of loss for the puppy
How awful and so damaging to your relationship 😢
Can you imagine if every time you went to pick up your glass of wine or your after-work gin and tonic, I took it out of your hand 🍷
I think it would make you quite mad 😡
There are nicer ways to get your puppy to let go of items that worry you 🍗
Training some simple commands will reduce your stress levels 😊
It will keep everyone safe and maintain the delight your puppy 🤩 experiences every time they see you
Building a fabulous connection and bond between you and your dog is what’s most important to me and if you're interested in my services get in touch ❣️

Thinking of getting a new puppy? 🐶
Have you considered the right breed of dog for you? 🤔
Originally, farmers realised they could make money by breeding their working dogs and selling them to ordinary folk 🐕
So, all dogs were bred for a specific reason
Terriers are ratters so they like to chase little furry things 🐀
Dachshunds are brave, fearless, and independent, attributes needed to help them hunt and track down badgers 🦡
Chihuahuas are cattle dogs and were bred to nip the heels of cows to move them on, then used as a hot water bottle in the cold nights 🥶
Spaniels are bred to work 12 hours a day 🥵
Like little mabel in the pic 💕
German shepherds are naturally wary of strangers so make great guard dogs 👍
Huskies are sled pullers
Then you’ve got your lap dogs that like to sit on your knee and look pretty such as the Shih Tzu, Maltese, Papillon, and Cavalier King Charles spaniel 💕
Can you imagine having one of these dogs in your home?
Can you imagine how much hard work it would be to have one that didn’t fit into your lifestyle?
Researching your favourite breed will help you choose the best fit for you, your family and help you build the relationships youve dreamt of ❣️
If you need any puppy advice, we have lots of training packages to choose from on our website www.toddiesdogtraining.com 😊

If you're similar to me, you will tidy around when you have any visitors calling 🪣🧹
My boiler was playing up so made an appointment for the maintenance man to call round 👨
Because the boilers in the bedroom, I made the bed as I got up and thought all was well 🛌
After he had gone, I made a quick check to make sure everything was ok and to my horror, I found that, in the meantime, Ted had gone in and re-arranged the bedding 🫣
OMG I was mortified 😱
The boiler man must have thought “What a slut”🤣

Loved meeting these two very different boys 😍
Although they are the same breed, they are like chalk and cheese 🧀
You often find this happens and that just means a little bit of relationship counselling is required.
A bit of understanding and looking at how we can fulfill the dogs needs in a way that suits us and this gets us back on track ❣️
If you're struggling with your dog, drop me a message on WhatsApp and let me help you get back on track 🐾

Creating trusting, loving relationships is the most important aspect of my work
Being nasty then nice can create trauma bonding
You may be able to relate if you've ever had a relationship with a narcissist
Shocking isn't it
Not something I'd ever want anyone to have to experience
Its and we’re exploring
"A predictable hell is safer for some than an unpredictable heaven"
Dogs are incredibly social and it’s important to their wellbeing to form secure attachments with others. Building a trusting relationship with your dog and helping them to thrive through meeting their emotional needs, trust, and safety, we can create secure attachments. However, if alongside this approach of connection and trust the handler also tries to control their dogs though coercion, fear, pain and other aversive methods to stop behaviours, problems can arise.
While positive punishment can be effective in some cases, it is important to understand the use of these methods can also create a bond between the dog and handler, that is similar to the trauma bonding that can occur in human relationships. This is why any techniques that work by supressing behaviour using fear, pain, or intimidation are best avoided. If a handler consistently uses positive punishment to correct unwanted behaviour, the dog may begin to associate the handler with fear and anxiety, rather than trust and positive reinforcement. This can result in the dog becoming dependent on the handler and developing a deep attachment to them, despite the harm that is being caused. This often results in our dogs developing a ‘Fawn (Please / appease) response. This is a behaviour that some dogs may exhibit when they feel threatened or afraid. Dogs that exhibit this response may cower, lower their head and body, excessive licking or rolling over onto their back. In the context of dog training, the fawn response can be triggered by the use of positive punishment, such as verbal reprimands or physical corrections. Dogs that are repeatedly subjected to both punishment and rewards, along with inconsistent and unpredictable behaviour may result in exhibiting a fawn response. This is a survival response to appease their handler and avoid further punishment. This often gives the wrong impression of obedience – these dogs go through the motions, and appear well behaved but their welfare is often compromised.
This type of bonding can be harmful to the dog's emotional well-being and can have long-lasting effects on their behaviour and personality. It is important for handlers to recognize the potential harm that can result from the use of coercion and controlling techniques to train and bond with their dogs and to take steps to build a trusting and safe relationship. In addition to avoiding punishment, trainers can also take steps to help dogs overcome the fawn response and build confidence and trust. This may involve providing opportunities for the dog to explore new environments through Scentwork or parkour as well as providing regular exercise and mental stimulation.
By recognizing the signs of the fawn response and taking steps to build a positive and trusting relationship with the dog, handlers can help to create a safe and effective training environment that is both rewarding for the dog and effective in achieving the desired results. This is particularly vital for those dogs who have been impacted by trauma.
