Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary Registered Charity Number 1157210 is a small foster home based animal sanctuary in the Merseyside area, set up in July 2013. We primarily focus on rescuing unwanted/stray cats and rabbits, however we will aim to help any animal in need. We currently have several foster homes

throughout Merseyside and we are very keen to recruit more! To find out more information, please get in touch; [email protected]
We have a strict non-destruction policy and will keep every animal in our care until a forever home can be found. We carry out home visits on prospective new homes, this is to ensure that the area is safe/suitable and also provide a time for advice on adopting a rescue pet and answering any questions the prospective owner has. Home visits are not to look at how clean a house is or
what the decor is like! All Rescue Me animals are deflea'd, wormed, microchipped, neutered (if the animal is too young, he/she will be recalled for neutering). Our philosophy is to accept an animal into our care based solely on its need and not on any other physical characteristic, providing we have a suitable foster home free. We believe that by looking after a rescue pet in a home environment we are able to fully assess the animal, understand its needs and the type of home he/she will require and ultimately match them to a suitable home. We are very excited about our new venture but currently only have a handful of volunteers, with more support we can achieve things faster and rescue even more needy animals...please come and join us, we'll welcome you aboard!!! We are desperate for donations, please help to keep us afloat!! Paypal; [email protected]

We’d like to say a big thank you to the lovely people and their dogs who came along to our charity dog walk from Freshfield Station today which raised a brilliant £243.89 much needed funds for the Sanctuary.
It was so rewarding to see so many Rescue Me dogs including 4 gorgeous rottweilers from the same litter who were 10 months old today and who hadn’t seen each other since they were rehomed .
A huge thank you also to our wonderful volunteers Susan , Bev , Janet , Julie & her daughter , Claire & James without whom this event would not have happened - you are all stars !

🐾🧡 **SUPER SIMBA – LOOKING FOR A RETIREMENT PAD** 🧡🐾

Meet Simba, our 17-year-old golden oldie who’s ready to find a comfy sofa and a human to spoil him in his twilight years 🛋️🐱.

Simba came to us via bailiffs after his owners didn’t reclaim him. He arrived underweight, but with lots of TLC (and plenty of food 🍲) he’s put on over 1kg and is thriving. Blood tests showed his thyroid and kidneys are working just fine 👏 – amazing for a gentleman of his age!

He does have some arthritis and muscle loss, so he’s on daily oral Metacam to keep him comfortable. This, along with a few little home adjustments (low-sided litter tray, cosy beds, maybe a ramp), will help him enjoy his senior years. Please note: these conditions aren’t insurable, so his new family should be prepared for ongoing prescriptions.

Don’t let his age fool you – Simba still has plenty of **big ginger cat energy**. He’s greedy, loves his food, and will sing the song of his people if dinner is late 😹. He’s a clean boy with his litter tray and takes his Fortiflora to keep his tummy happy.

Most of all, Simba is affectionate: he adores ear rubs, chin scratches, and snuggles. Expect loud purrs, headbumps, and even the odd bit of happy drool as his way of saying “I love you” 😻.

🐈‍⬛💜 LOVELY LITTLE LAVENDER IS READY TO GO HOME 🏡

Beautiful young mum cat, Lavender, is approx 18 - 24mths old and is looking for her forever home. She has been a wonderful mum to her kittens but is now ready to put her paws up in her own palace 🐾

Lavender is an elegant, curious and confident cat. The first thing we noticed about Lavender was her huge green eyes and her long legs 😻.

Lavender has kept a watchful eye on her kittens and has done an excellent job. Perhaps because of this, it did take her some time to relax but she has now shown herself to be a laid back cat. She doesn't ask for much, just company, a comfy chair 🪑the occasional head massage 💆‍♀️and lots of treats. Lavender loves her food 🍲and will head bump and chat to her humans when it's meal time.

Lavender really does deserve lots of love and pampering in her forever home.

Lavender is in foster in Widnes and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and is fully vaccinated. If interested in adopting Lavender, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

💗 Searching for Jessie's ✨️Extra Special✨️ Home 💗

Sometimes an animal comes into your life who brings so much joy, and so many lessons along the way. For us, that animal has been Jessie

Born in Bosnia, Jessie was involved in an accident at a young age that left her without use of her back legs. She learned to get herself around by scooting along on her bottom. After spending 2 months in a vet and a year in a Bosnian rescue, she was imported by another UK rescue and directly adopted to a home which was unfortunately not able to provide her with the care she needed.

Jessie landed safely with Rescue Me in 2022, much to our relief.

We initially understood her hind legs to be completely paralysed, however on arrival she was assessed by Rescue Me’s wonderful veterinary team who discovered not only could she feel her legs but she could move them a little too!

With little or no muscle mass, incredibly tight tendons causing her back legs to be very straight, and deep spinal pain, the thought of Jessie walking again seemed impossible. But as she was, her toileting was causing sores and infections while the nerve damage to her back was no doubt responsible for severe discomfort. We had to do something to improve her quality of life, and fast, it just wasn’t fair to leave her as she was any longer.

It has been a long, incredible journey so far, with a wonderful team of fosterers, vets and animal physiotherapists rallying behind Jessie in her fight. She has weekly acupuncture treatments to aid with her nerve pain and spark activity in long forgotten pathways and no longer suffers with the painful sores on her rear.

Jessie has improved in her 18 months with us, receiving very intensive physiotherapy every few days. Although she is a very happy and affectionate cat, we cannot make any guarantees that she will regain full use of her back legs again, but she is becoming stronger and benefits greatly from regular sessions.

The road is very long for this kind of injury, so it is time to begin searching for her forever home.

Who are we looking for?
✅️ Adopters willing to be involved in her rehab before adoption
✅️ Able to continue regular sessions (currently six weekly) from a recommended, qualified animal physiotherapist upon adoption and keep up with her routine exercises at home
✅️ An adult only home
✅️ An understanding of cat behaviour, especially overstimulation
✅️ Lots of TLC to give, Jsssie says "cuddles on demand" 😆
✅️ Willing to find new, inventive ways for enrichment
✅️ Able to give Jessie her very own, easy-clean, easy to navigate, comfy room! 💅
✅️ Experience with disabled or intensive care animals desirable but not essential
✅️ Able to make visits to Southport for visits initially are preferable, but these may be able to be conducted online for the right home
✅️ Financially stable with an understanding her existing conditions will not be covered by insurance
❌️ No other cats (calm dogs may be OK after careful, slow introduction)

If you are interested in Jessie, or would like to find out more information, please call us on 07952 017 696 and leave a voicemail

Please help us and SHARE Jessie's story 💕 Her forever person is out there somewhere...could it be you?

🐈‍⬛ ❤️THE LOVELY LUSCIOUS L LITTER ARE LOOKING 👀……..🏡🐾

The L litter kittens are 10-weeks old and are ready to go to their forever homes.

All three kittens are very playful, friendly and gentle. They can be homed with friendly resident cats, children aged 5-years+ and are young enough to get used to a calm, cat-savvy dog.

LEMON - is the smallest kitten and, being the most timid of the trio, she can be a little shy. She does feel more confident when with her sisters. She always sleeps curled up next to Laurel. She loves her naps and is always last to wake, although she is playful 🧸🎾she will sometimes fall asleep leaving her sisters playing. She would benefit from being homed with a friendly cat.

LUNA - loves her food, is first to the food bowls 🍲 and always wants more treats. She will sit on her fosterer’s lap whilst waiting to be fed. Luna enjoys playing with her siblings but is also happy entertaining herself with toys or anything she can chew!😹

LAUREL - is the biggest kitten of the litter. She has taken on the big sister role. She will pounce on her sisters and always has the upper paw 🐾 when wrestling with them. Laurel grooms her siblings and has perfected her stalking walk…she is also enthusiastic about playing. She is a confident kitten but is too busy playing 🎾 to sit on laps 😻

The kittens are in foster in Widnes and have been neutered, chipped, parasite and have had their first vaccinations. If interested in adopting any of the kittens, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.
