Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary Registered Charity Number 1157210 is a small foster home based animal sanctuary in the Merseyside area, set up in July 2013. We primarily focus on rescuing unwanted/stray cats and rabbits, however we will aim to help any animal in need. We currently have several foster homes

throughout Merseyside and we are very keen to recruit more! To find out more information, please get in touch; [email protected]
We have a strict non-destruction policy and will keep every animal in our care until a forever home can be found. We carry out home visits on prospective new homes, this is to ensure that the area is safe/suitable and also provide a time for advice on adopting a rescue pet and answering any questions the prospective owner has. Home visits are not to look at how clean a house is or
what the decor is like! All Rescue Me animals are deflea'd, wormed, microchipped, neutered (if the animal is too young, he/she will be recalled for neutering). Our philosophy is to accept an animal into our care based solely on its need and not on any other physical characteristic, providing we have a suitable foster home free. We believe that by looking after a rescue pet in a home environment we are able to fully assess the animal, understand its needs and the type of home he/she will require and ultimately match them to a suitable home. We are very excited about our new venture but currently only have a handful of volunteers, with more support we can achieve things faster and rescue even more needy animals...please come and join us, we'll welcome you aboard!!! We are desperate for donations, please help to keep us afloat!! Paypal; [email protected]

❤️🌹BEAUTIFUL ZAYA IS READY FOR HER FOREVER HOME 🏡 😻

Adorable little Zaya is approx 2-years old and came to us with her 3-day old kittens. She has done a wonderful job of raising her kittens and is now ready for some ME time and to put her paws 🐾up. She is looking for a forever home filled with lots of love and patience.

When Zaya first came to us, she was very cautious and not wanting to be near her humans. She is quite timid and does not like to be overly handled. She has really come out of her shell and began enjoying sitting on the couch and getting closer other fosterers, on her own terms. She adores a chin and a back scratch and she will purr gently to let you know she is loving it. Although much more confident and trusting, Zaya needs someone with a lot of patience where she can come out when she is ready. She likes to find a small corner somewhere and get comfy before she is ready to come out. She has become very vocal in the last few weeks and loves to meow from the other room when she wants attention. Zaya loves her food and is always ready for her breakfast!!! Zaya is litter trained, and would do well with other loving friendly cat.

Zaya is in foster in L14 and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and has had her first vaccination. She can be homed with a friendly resident cat and children aged 8 years+. If interested in adopting her, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption and vetting applies.

🐈‍⬛❤️ ZIPPY ZORO IS LOOKING 👀 FOR HIS FOREVER JONE 🏡😻

Zoro is 10-weeks old and came to us at 3-days old, with his Mum (Zaya) and two sisters (Ziggy and Zara). He is now ready to go home.

Zoro is a very vocal boy, who loves his cuddles in his favourite blanket. His favourite thing to do is to fall asleep on the desk, stalking the computer screen mouse. He loves his comforts and is also very active. He loves to run around and chase his sisters. His favourite toy is his little mouse 🐭that he absolutely will not share under any circumstances 😂😹.
Zoro is also a big foodie and enjoys climbing legs to get his food faster! He is well litter trained and would do well with other cats as he loves to snuggle.

After Zoro had been neutered and vaccinated, he got a rapid heart beat. We think this was due to the drugs used. However, we would like to check this when he has his second vaccination. Therefore, we are offering to do his second vaccination at our vet clinic at our HQ in Melling.

Zoro is in foster in L14 and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and has had his first vaccination. He can be homed with friendly resident cats, a cat-savvy dig and children aged 5 years+. If interested in adopting Zoro, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛ ZANY GIRLS ZIGGY AND ZARA ARE READY TO GO HOME 🏡❤️

Little 10-week old sisters, Ziggy and Zara came into,us at 3-days old, with their mum (Zaya) and brother (Zoro). They are now looking 👀 for their forever homes.

ZIGGY - is a feisty but fun loving little kitten. She is the smallest of her siblings but definitely the most confident!! She loves her playtime with all of her toys 🧸🎾…..especially when she can sneak attack her brother and sister! Ziggy is also a big foodie and loves to climb up legs when she knows her bowls are being filled. She has a very cuddly side also and has cuddled up on the couch many of times after a long hard day of playing. She is very inquisitive and has had fun learning all the places she can manage to climb.
Ziggy is well litter trained and would do well with other cats!

ZARA - is a sweet little soul, the quietest of her siblings but the cuddliest! Her favourite spot is at the top of the cat tree where she can snooze and watch her crazy siblings play. She has a very playful side too but she is very gentle. She likes to run around until she’s tired out and she will take her spot to chill out. She has recently found a new space too, in the wardrobe, where it’s nice and warm and she can have her well deserved rest. Zara loves her food, is well litter trained, and would do well with other cats.

The sisters are in foster in L14 and have been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and have had their first vaccination. They can be homed with friendly resident cats, a cat-savvy dog and children aged 5 years+. If interested in adopting either or both sisters, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

💗 Searching for Jessie's ✨️Extra Special✨️ Home 💗

Sometimes an animal comes into your life who brings so much joy, and so many lessons along the way. For us, that animal has been Jessie

Born in Bosnia, Jessie was involved in an accident at a young age that left her without use of her back legs. She learned to get herself around by scooting along on her bottom. After spending 2 months in a vet and a year in a Bosnian rescue, she was imported by another UK rescue and directly adopted to a home which was unfortunately not able to provide her with the care she needed.

Jessie landed safely with Rescue Me in 2022, much to our relief.

We initially understood her hind legs to be completely paralysed, however on arrival she was assessed by Rescue Me’s wonderful veterinary team who discovered not only could she feel her legs but she could move them a little too!

With little or no muscle mass, incredibly tight tendons causing her back legs to be very straight, and deep spinal pain, the thought of Jessie walking again seemed impossible. But as she was, her toileting was causing sores and infections while the nerve damage to her back was no doubt responsible for severe discomfort. We had to do something to improve her quality of life, and fast, it just wasn’t fair to leave her as she was any longer.

It has been a long, incredible journey so far, with a wonderful team of fosterers, vets and animal physiotherapists rallying behind Jessie in her fight. She has weekly acupuncture treatments to aid with her nerve pain and spark activity in long forgotten pathways and no longer suffers with the painful sores on her rear.

Jessie has improved in her 18 months with us, receiving very intensive physiotherapy every few days. Although she is a very happy and affectionate cat, we cannot make any guarantees that she will regain full use of her back legs again, but she is becoming stronger and benefits greatly from regular sessions.

The road is very long for this kind of injury, so it is time to begin searching for her forever home.

Who are we looking for?
✅️ Adopters willing to be involved in her rehab before adoption
✅️ Able to continue regular sessions (currently six weekly) from a recommended, qualified animal physiotherapist upon adoption and keep up with her routine exercises at home
✅️ An adult only home
✅️ An understanding of cat behaviour, especially overstimulation
✅️ Lots of TLC to give, Jsssie says "cuddles on demand" 😆
✅️ Willing to find new, inventive ways for enrichment
✅️ Able to give Jessie her very own, easy-clean, easy to navigate, comfy room! 💅
✅️ Experience with disabled or intensive care animals desirable but not essential
✅️ Able to make visits to Southport for visits initially are preferable, but these may be able to be conducted online for the right home
✅️ Financially stable with an understanding her existing conditions will not be covered by insurance
❌️ No other cats (calm dogs may be OK after careful, slow introduction)

If you are interested in Jessie, or would like to find out more information, please call us on 07952 017 696 and leave a voicemail

Please help us and SHARE Jessie's story 💕 Her forever person is out there somewhere...could it be you?

Our 4 Caucasian Ovcharka handrears.
They came to us a few days ago from an accidental breeding situation. Their mum had 10 pups unexpectedly as the vets had told her owner that she was not pregnant a couple of weeks ago.
Sadly, 6 pups were found deceased and it was unclear if they had died from the cold or due to mum. The remaining 4 pups and mum were admitted to a vets and the vets tried to put the pups with mum again. Tragically, she attacked one causing injuries that needed stitches in several areas. The surviving pups came to us for handrearing. 3 out of the 4 pups are struggling to suckle from a bottle so they are being supported with tube feeds and we hope they start suckling soon. They are very vocal pups, something common with the breed but it has surprised us to see such vocal pups that are only days old who cannot see or hear yet. They get hungry every hour and are very demanding little babies bless them. They also love their heat pad and bury themselves in bedding to remain nice and snug.
Their parents have gone to breed rescue as their owners circumstances had changed dramatically. We ask for no negative comments as their owner had tried to do their best in very challenging circumstances.
This breed of dog is not suitable for most standard pet homes as they have an innate guarding instinct bred into them that cannot be trained out no matter how much training and socialisation they get.
Come on babies, keep fighting 💞

🐈😻LOVELY LITTLE LUCY IS READY TO GO TO HER FOREVER HOME 🏡❤️

Adorable little Lucy is ready to go home. She is around 2-years old and came to us after living on the streets as a stray. She had at least two litters whilst living a difficult outdoors life.

Lucy is a pretty, petite little girl. She found it slow to relax and enjoy her new loving environment in foster, choosing to spend most of her time in her cosy bed but she enjoys being stroked and brushed, especially on her cheeks and chin 😻.

Lucy loves her food and hurries out of her bed when she hears it being put out for her. Whilst she is eating, she enjoys vigorous stroking and patting, rising up for head bumps. The way to her heart seems to be through her stomach 🍲❤️.

Whilst Lucy hadn’t yet been brave enough to sit on her foster carers’ knees, she has started to sit close by, keeping a close eye on all going on around her. With time, patience and TLC, Lucy will be an ideal addition to a family home. She is starting to settle into her foster home, so it is now time for her to move on to her forever loving home and continue the journey in her new life.

Lucy can be homed with children aged 10-years+ and, as we are unaware of her reaction to other animals, we are looking for a pet free home.

Lucy is in foster on Wirral and has been neutered chipped, parasite treated and has had her first vaccination. If interested in adopting her, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

Introducing our wonderful Molly 💖
Molly found herself unclaimed in a stray dog pound and she surprised everyone one morning when 2 tiny puppies were found in her kennel. It wasn't ideal to move her but she desperately needed to be somewhere suitable for her to whelp so she came to us the following day.
She has taken a couple of days to relax which is not surprising but we are pleased to say that she is in a good routine now and is very attentive to her babies.
Molly is the sweetest girl and is so loving, she has melted all our hearts. How can anyone discard such a fabulous dog?
She has sore infected eyes and entropion and sore ears too. We are pretty certain this is not her first litter. Was she possibly dumped for having a small litter?
Her pups are growing well and doing everything they should be at this stage but the darker male is smaller than his sister. We are hoping and praying that there hasn't been a double merle mating.
No adoption enquiries currently please.
We are currently keeping her whelping isolation space at a high temperature and keeping their heat pad running which is adding to our daily running costs of electricity 🙈
If anyone can help us and donate towards their care and our electricity bill, it would be a huge help and enable us to keep helping emergency cases like Molly and her babies.
Has anyone got any name suggestions for these 2 special pups?

🏡Wonderful Willow is searching for a loving home 🏡

Little 16-week old Willow came to us as an unwanted pup. She is an American bulldog and has been flourishing in her foster home.

Her foster carer describes her as ‘an all-round good girl’. She loves cuddles, playing and sleeping! Willow is extremely food orientated, so would be very easy to train using positive methods, as she is always keen to please! She is coming on leaps and bounds with her toilet training. Willow is also crate trained and sleeps right through the night in her cosy den.

Willow is great with the foster carer’s resident dogs so could live with another neutered dog/s and can also live with dog-savvy cats, although she does want to chase the cats she currently lives with, but also loves to curl up with them for an afternoon nap!

We are looking for someone with large breed experience, particularly someone who has had ABD or mastiffs before. Her new family will also need to continue her training (using positive methods), as she has the potential to become a very strong dog. For our insurance purposes, any children in the home need to be 12 years +.

Willow is in foster in Warrington and has received her 1st vaccination, microchip and has been parasite treated. She will have her 2nd vaccination with us. Adopters need to be aware that she will be recalled for neutering at an appropriate age to our vets in Melling for a midweek appointment. To apply to adopt her, please visit https://www.rescueme.org.uk/adoptadog and fill out the online form.

Please be as descriptive as possible when answering questions as this is how we shortlist suitable applicants to the next stage. Applicants will need to live within an hour of Melling, Liverpool for homechecks and practically of neutering recall.

OMG what a busy and EXHAUSTING few days we have had 😱

With several members of our team having sleepless nights, we haven't had a moment to update Facebook. We will try to do some individual posts over the weekend but please say a gentle welcome to Molly the bulldog and her babies who came from a dog pound, a Maltese cleft pup who was frozen cold on admission, Herbie a Shar pei puppy with eye problems, 4 staffy cleftie pups and 4 Caucasian Ovcharka hand rears, 1 is wounded and has stitches from mum attacking them and sadly 6 pups from the litter had already been killed 💔
It is highly unusual that our puppy intakes outweigh our kitten intakes...we normally have lots more rescue kittens than puppies, it just shows how awful the current UK dog crisis is when rescues are bursting at the seams with puppies.

With so many new pups on top of our rotties and ambull girl we are flying through puppy pads at an astonishing rate...if anyone can drop any puppy pads to us, it would be a massive help. We have also bumped them up our Amazon wishlist 🙏

🐰 Perfect Pippin searching for a friendly new playmate 🐰

Pippin is a super affectionate bunny who adores company. We unsure of his age, but we know he’s a younger bun. He loves to lie at your feet relaxing in the evenings and watch TV while chattering his teeth with happiness. Pippin has been practising his grooming skills on his fosterer’s hands, socks or cushions while he’s stroked.

Pippin, like most bunnies, isn’t overly keen on being picked up, but does love any opportunity to be near you and has recently started to jump up on the sofa in his foster home, just to get nearer for a sneaky head stroke. He seems extremely happy being an indoor bunny, he is very tidy and always uses his litter tray.

Pippin loves his routine and spends most of the day in his pen on his rug or snuggled in hay, but he loves to run around the room in the morning and evening throwing in a few binkies! Pippin is the perfect gentleman but he does have a cheeky side and he definitely knows when it’s time for his morning greens or a little treat before his bedtime and he looks quite disappointed if they are not given on time! All in all…Pippin is absolutely adorable!

Pippin will need an enclosure of 3m x 2m to exercise in and a sleeping enclosure of 1.8m x 0.6m (minimum). He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. This will enable him to display his natural behaviour. He will be best suited as a companion for a single female or a pair of bunnies following a slow introduction and bonding.

If you’re interested in adopting little Pippin, please call 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption interview and fee applies. We’ll need to see photos of your current set up (if you have one).

Little Nala is a 12 month old pocket bully (it is actually her 1st birthday today according to her microchip)
She was seized by police as her owner had slammed her against a wall and she ended up at the dog pound. Her hip was dislocated so she has had surgery (femoral head and neck excision).
We are worried from her x-rays that the sacroiliac joint has a compression fracture in her pelvis so she may need more treatment.
She also has slight kennel cough too.
She is safe now with us and we will do what we can to help her recover 💖
Nala is the sweetest little girl, we just do not understand how anyone can physically abuse animals. We certainly hope the Police are pursuing a criminal conviction 🤞

❤️🐈 MAGICAL MIKA IS LOOKING 👀FOR HIS FOREVER HOME ❤️🏡

Little 11-week old Mika is now ready to go to his new home. He is the brother of Maple and Mara.

Mika came into us after being born outside. He wasn’t used to being handled when he first arrived but our wonderful fosterers have done a fantastic job of socializing him. Mika is very affectionate and loves being stroked and brushed. He purrs really loudly too! He loves to play with toys with feathers or ribbons 🧸🪶 and soft pom pom balls 🤹‍♀️. He also has quite a loud voice and will shout for attention 🗣️.

To help Mika settle and be his friendly little self as soon as possible, he will need to be contained in a crate for a couple of days, on adoption, with regular interaction.

Mika is in foster in Stonycroft and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and has had his first vaccination. He can be homed with friendly resident cats, a cat-savvy dog and children aged 8 years+.

If interested in adopting Mika , please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

🐕❤️ BEAUTIFUL BOY BUDDY IS LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME WITH OTHER DOG(S) 🦮🐕‍🦺

Buddy is looking for a home. He is a 4 year old crossbreed from Romania ❤
Romanian dogs are, typically, good with other dogs and used to living in ‘packs’. Buddy will, therefore, need a home with at least one other friendly resident dog.

Buddy is a nervous boy who will need patience and a consistent routine to help build his confidence. He can be fearful when meeting new people and it will take a few meet ups before trust is gained. Once he gets to know you he is very affectionate and loves cuddles.

He is fine to be left alone and has shown no separation anxiety and he is fully toilet trained.

He has lived with other dogs and is great when meeting dogs on walks. He has a lot of energy to burn off as he is so young and athletic, so would need a home with a garden and with access to quiet walks away from crowds, bikes and children. He will bark at and chase strangers when out on walks if he is not on a lead. Therefore, he would prefer a home in a quiet location.

He cannot live with children, or in a home that has regular child visitors, as he finds them too unpredictable. Buddy has worked with a behaviourist to support him through his anxiety, and he has shown potential for counter-conditioning training in the right environment, however this will take time. The behaviour reports can be shared with any adopters.

Buddy is currently on medication for a skin allergy, which could be seasonal or could be long term, as this is only a recent issue.

Buddy has been treated for parasites, microchipped, neutered and vaccinated.
If you are interested in adopting Buddy please fill in our dog adoption enquiry form on our website : https://www.rescueme.org.uk/adoptadog
