Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary Registered Charity Number 1157210 is a small foster home based animal sanctuary in the Merseyside area, set up in July 2013. We primarily focus on rescuing unwanted/stray cats and rabbits, however we will aim to help any animal in need. We currently have several foster homes

throughout Merseyside and we are very keen to recruit more! To find out more information, please get in touch; [email protected]
We have a strict non-destruction policy and will keep every animal in our care until a forever home can be found. We carry out home visits on prospective new homes, this is to ensure that the area is safe/suitable and also provide a time for advice on adopting a rescue pet and answering any questions the prospective owner has. Home visits are not to look at how clean a house is or
what the decor is like! All Rescue Me animals are deflea'd, wormed, microchipped, neutered (if the animal is too young, he/she will be recalled for neutering). Our philosophy is to accept an animal into our care based solely on its need and not on any other physical characteristic, providing we have a suitable foster home free. We believe that by looking after a rescue pet in a home environment we are able to fully assess the animal, understand its needs and the type of home he/she will require and ultimately match them to a suitable home. We are very excited about our new venture but currently only have a handful of volunteers, with more support we can achieve things faster and rescue even more needy animals...please come and join us, we'll welcome you aboard!!! We are desperate for donations, please help to keep us afloat!! Paypal; [email protected]

🐕❤️ BEAUTIFUL BOY BUDDY IS LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME WITH OTHER DOG(S) 🐕❤️

Buddy is looking for a home. He is a 4 year old crossbreed from Romania ❤
Romanian dogs are, typically, good with other dogs and used to living in ‘packs’. Buddy will, therefore, need a home with at least one other friendly resident dog.

Buddy is a nervous boy who will need patience and a consistent routine to help build his confidence. He can be fearful when meeting new people and it will take a few meet ups before trust is gained. Once he gets to know you he is very affectionate and loves cuddles.

He is fine to be left alone and has shown no separation anxiety and he is fully toilet trained.

He has lived with other dogs and is great when meeting dogs on walks. He has a lot of energy to burn off as he is so young and athletic, so would need a home with a garden and with access to quiet walks away from crowds, bikes and children. He will bark at and chase strangers when out on walks if he is not on a lead. Therefore, he would prefer a home in a quiet location.

He cannot live with children, or in a home that has regular child visitors, as he finds them too unpredictable. Buddy has worked with a behaviourist to support him through his anxiety, and he has shown potential for counter-conditioning training in the right environment, however this will take time. The behaviour reports can be shared with any adopters.

Buddy is currently on medication for a skin allergy, which could be seasonal or could be long term, as this is only a recent issue.

Buddy has been treated for parasites, microchipped, neutered and vaccinated.
If you are interested in adopting Buddy please fill in our dog adoption enquiry form on our website : https://www.rescueme.org.uk/adoptadog

Meet Cole & Pearl – Our Adorable Bulldog Pups ❤️

They came into our care with their amazing mum, Molly at just 24 hours old having been born in the stray pound. These little bundles of joy are now 7 weeks old and full of fun, playful energy, and, of course, typical puppy mischief! 🐾✨

They will need someone home often to help them settle in, provide training, and give them all the love and attention they deserve. If you're ready for puppy cuddles, zoomies, and a lifetime of love, Cole & Pearl could be the perfect match for you!

We would ideally like someone who has had bulldogs before & understand how head strong but loveable this breed is.

Pearl & Cole have been treated for parasites, microchipped, 1st vaccinations & need to be returned to our Melling HQ for 2nd vacs & neutering when old enough.
If you are interested in adopting either pup please fill in our dog adoption enquiry form on our website : https://www.rescueme.org.uk/adoptadog

⭐ Please note due to the high demand of puppies, not all applications will be responded to so it's vital you put as much information as possible for us to select the most suitable homes. Any current dogs in the home MUST be neutered ⭐

😻🐾 FABULOUS FURRY FENRIR IS READY FOR AN EXTRA-SPECIAL INDOOR HOME ❤️🏡

Beautiful Maine Coone Fenrir is 11-months old and looking for a special home.

Fenrir came to us 8 months ago, as a 3-month old kitten, with several health issues. Fenrir is a carrier of cat flu and this can flare up from time to time. Most often, it doesn't need treatment but he does need to be closely monitored during his flare ups and may need vet checks. He has had surgery on his left eye because he had an adhesion and entropion.

Fenrir also has chronic bowel issues. This is controlled with sensitivity food and low dose steroids.

Any suitable applicant to adopt him, can request to have his vet notes sent to their own vet. They can then discuss his medical needs with their own vet, as he has a complex medical history, resulting from us stabilizing his medical problems over several months.

Despite the problems he has had, Fenrir is the most lovable Maine Coone mischief maker 😻. He loves to be in the middle of whatever’s going on, playing with ANYTHING he can find and then snuggling for a cuddle once he’s tired 💤💤

Throughout all of his health ups and downs, he has stayed a happy, friendly boy, who loves people and even cat friendly dogs. He is very confident and brave. Fenrir would love a friend, as he wants to play all the time and has even learned fetch.

He is a big cat, who still sometimes plays with some rough kitten energy using his teeth and claws. He is only playing but he would be best suited to a cat savvy household without any young children.

Fenrir would benefit from a busy household, with lots of play and enrichment to keep him stimulated. When he is bored he can get into mischief….he likes knocking things over!

Fenrir has learned to take his medication very well and is even a favourite with the vet for his loud purrs 😻. When Fenrir has flare ups of his cat flu, he can be sneezy but this doesn’t hold him back! He is a wonderful cat who is now ready for his forever home after such a long time in foster.

Fenrir is in foster in L1 and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and is fully vaccinated. He will need to be kept as an INDOOR cat and any other resident cats will need to be fully vaccinated. If interested in adopting Fenrir, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

💗 Searching for Jessie's ✨️Extra Special✨️ Home 💗

Sometimes an animal comes into your life who brings so much joy, and so many lessons along the way. For us, that animal has been Jessie

Born in Bosnia, Jessie was involved in an accident at a young age that left her without use of her back legs. She learned to get herself around by scooting along on her bottom. After spending 2 months in a vet and a year in a Bosnian rescue, she was imported by another UK rescue and directly adopted to a home which was unfortunately not able to provide her with the care she needed.

Jessie landed safely with Rescue Me in 2022, much to our relief.

We initially understood her hind legs to be completely paralysed, however on arrival she was assessed by Rescue Me’s wonderful veterinary team who discovered not only could she feel her legs but she could move them a little too!

With little or no muscle mass, incredibly tight tendons causing her back legs to be very straight, and deep spinal pain, the thought of Jessie walking again seemed impossible. But as she was, her toileting was causing sores and infections while the nerve damage to her back was no doubt responsible for severe discomfort. We had to do something to improve her quality of life, and fast, it just wasn’t fair to leave her as she was any longer.

It has been a long, incredible journey so far, with a wonderful team of fosterers, vets and animal physiotherapists rallying behind Jessie in her fight. She has weekly acupuncture treatments to aid with her nerve pain and spark activity in long forgotten pathways and no longer suffers with the painful sores on her rear.

Jessie has improved in her 18 months with us, receiving very intensive physiotherapy every few days. Although she is a very happy and affectionate cat, we cannot make any guarantees that she will regain full use of her back legs again, but she is becoming stronger and benefits greatly from regular sessions.

The road is very long for this kind of injury, so it is time to begin searching for her forever home.

Who are we looking for?
✅️ Adopters willing to be involved in her rehab before adoption
✅️ Able to continue regular sessions (currently six weekly) from a recommended, qualified animal physiotherapist upon adoption and keep up with her routine exercises at home
✅️ An adult only home
✅️ An understanding of cat behaviour, especially overstimulation
✅️ Lots of TLC to give, Jsssie says "cuddles on demand" 😆
✅️ Willing to find new, inventive ways for enrichment
✅️ Able to give Jessie her very own, easy-clean, easy to navigate, comfy room! 💅
✅️ Experience with disabled or intensive care animals desirable but not essential
✅️ Able to make visits to Southport for visits initially are preferable, but these may be able to be conducted online for the right home
✅️ Financially stable with an understanding her existing conditions will not be covered by insurance
❌️ No other cats (calm dogs may be OK after careful, slow introduction)

If you are interested in Jessie, or would like to find out more information, please call us on 07952 017 696 and leave a voicemail

Please help us and SHARE Jessie's story 💕 Her forever person is out there somewhere...could it be you?

❤️ 🐾 XIMENO IS READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME ❣️🏡

Little 10-week old Ximeno is Xarah’s brother and is also now ready to go to his forever home.

Ximeno came into us after being born outside. He wasn’t used to being handled when he first arrived but our wonderful fosterers have done a fantastic job of socializing him.

To help Ximeno settle and be his friendly little self as soon as possible, he will need to be contained in a crate for a couple of days, on adoption, with regular interaction.

Ximeno is a really sweet kitten and enjoys playing. He is also becoming a cuddle bug! He quickly settled in to his foster home and is an adorable little boy.

Ximeno is in foster in L1 and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and has had his first vaccination. He can be homed with friendly resident cats and is young enough to get used to a cat-savvy dog. Any children in a home will need to be aged 8 years+.

If interested in adopting Ximeno, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

🐈‍⬛ SUPER SOFTY SMUDGE IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME 🏡❤️

Smudge is a 4-year old lad who came to us in sad circumstances. His owner’s home was subject to being re-possessed... sadly, Smudge was one of the possessions left behind 😿

Smudge is a very friendly, super soft and loving big boy who just wants to be around his humans all the time! He absolutely loves being petted, having a cuddle and watching out of the window. He will seek his fosterer out for attention if he hasn’t been able to head but them for a while! He still loves to play and chases his toys 🎾 around and he enjoys using his scratching post a lot too!

Smudge is in foster in St Helens and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and has had his first vaccination. As we don’t have any history on him, we do not know how he would be with other cats or dogs. He is a gentle soul, who loves to play, so we would be willing to home him with children aged 8-years+.
If interested in adopting Smudge, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

❤️😻THE TERRIFIC T KITTENS ARE NOW READY TO GO HOME 🏡❣️

The 9-week old T litter came into us at 5-weeks old. Unfortunately, they had been fed on a poor nutritional diet and had rickets in their front legs. This has now cleared up, with being fed good quality nutritional food. However, Trix has some residual deficit and he may have some laxity in his front limbs. The only treatment needed is to keep him on a good quality diet.

TABITHA is definitely a princess! She loves sitting on knees and staring at her people with her big, beautiful, pearly eyes. Don't let this fool you, as she can be quite competitive with her brothers! Her new family will need to invest in a fishing rod toy as she loves to chase her toys, she is the fastest ball of fluff you will ever see! She has had some catching up to do with her brothers, as she is the smallest of them all but it doesn't stop her appetite. Tabitha is very active but does enjoy a cuddle once her energy has burnt off! She also loves a game of catch the ladybug on her fosterers phone!

TRIX was a real flirt when he first met his male foster carer. He'd calmly slouch in his lap and fall asleep! He loves treating people like his personal playground. He has bundles of energy and loves nothing other than to climb. Trix loves rough housing with siblings and loves to chase round his ping pong ball……his new family may need to invest in a box full! He is the biggest out of the litter so expect a large, fluffy boy!

TACO is the greediest one out the bunch! Once he has finished his dinner, he will go and see if there are seconds in his brothers’ bowls! He can be a bit smelly as he loves a good release of wind…..💨. Taco can be a sensitive soul, however, as he can be spooked by loud noises. If he is feeling anxious, he will find comfort under furniture but quickly comes round with encouragement! Taco has the loudest purr of them all and loves a good belly tickle. He enjoys his toys like the rest but nothing in particular. He loves a chase and, once caught, he has been seen to be a bit grumbly with his siblings.

TAYTO is a snuggle bug, he is constantly torn between sitting on knees for a cuddle or playing with the rest of his siblings. He loves finding small crevices and squeezing himself into them, especially inbetween his fosterers’ legs when they have them crossed. He is a very clever boy, he would pick up his toy spring and consistently take it to somewhere it couldn't roll away. His favourite toy is a pink pompom which he is very proud of! He has been a little nervous of our resident cat and has kept a distance when she visited. He's a gorgeous, playful boy with a lot of energy to burn!

The kittens are in foster in Ellesmere Port and have been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and have had their first vaccinations. They can be Jome with friendly resident cats, are young enough to calm resident dogs and children aged 5-years+. If interested in adopting any of the kittens, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

✨️ Our WORLD SPAY DAY miracle! Meet Moira Rose! 🌹❤️

‼️Warning graphic pictures‼️

It's very fitting that we introduce this special little cat on World Spay Day. Moira Rose is one of the newest admits into our rescue, after going through such a traumatic experience. We were contacted by someone who had been feeding her for a few months, but believed her to be about 7 years old as she had been straying locally for several years. They had taken her to a vets for a pre op check, before she was spayed. Unfortunately the vets found a large lump in her abdomen, which they could not confirm a diagnosis without further investigations, which her feeder could not afford. She had been pregnant before, popping out kittens on the streets many times, although we have no idea what happened to these, whether they were sold, or given to another organisation by locals.

As she was deteriorating in health and needed urgent vet care, she came to us. When she arrived, she appeared painful and was not in a good way. We immediately planned a procedure called an exploratory laparotomy in our on site vet clinic, as one of our vets suspected that her uterus may have ruptured and there may be a mummified kitten foetus in her abdomen. We had to perform surgery to open her abdomen and see what was going on. One of our rescue staff sat with her whilst she was sedated, and she happily went to sleep snuggled up, having head rubs and purring 🥰

It became clear soon after starting surgery that our worst fears were confirmed. The vet removed a decapitated head of a rotten foetus immediately. Upon further inspection, there were kittens bones floating in her abdomen, including ribs and limbs. The body of the kitten had adhesed to her stomach, pancreas and gastrointestinal tract where some of her small intestine had become necrotic. It really was touch and go during the operation, and we had several discussions as a team on whether she had been through too much already. However, we decided that as she has had such a rubbish life up to now, she deserved as many chances as we could give her!

There was so much debris in her abdomen that we had to flush her internal organs with litres of sterile fluids. At the point Moira's uterus ruptured (likely months ago), she would have been in absolutely excruciating pain. We have no idea how she has managed to survive on her own means outside with no veterinary intervention. She really is a wonder cat!

Moira, against all odds, pulled through the anaesthetic and the next step was to encourage her to eat to get her gastrointestinal tract working. Our vet nurse tried a few things, but the winning dish was warmed up tuna!

Moira then went home with our vet nurse Becca for a few days, receiving intensive care, intravenous fluids and specialist medication. She has gone from strength to strength, and her appetite is second to none. So much goes wrong within rescue and veterinary, there are so many that we simply cannot save, so it is wonderful when one little cat shows us all the reason why we do what we do.

Moira highlights the importance of spaying cats. If she was spayed before 4 months old, she would never have had to go through excruciating pain on the streets, and deal with the traumatic loss of her kittens, when noone offered to help her for years.

Moira is not yet up for adoption as she is still undergoing treatment with one of our other fabulous fosterers Jen, who takes on our more complicated medical cases for observation.
Any donations towards Moira's huge operation would be hugely appreciated, no matter how small. It helps us to keep our doors open to the poorly animals who need us the most 🙏

Many of you will know that last year we were very fortunate to be chosen by Merseyrail to be one of their 4 chosen charities for 2024 & 2025 .
We were surprised and delighted with their recent donation to us of £16,000 which is a great start to 2025 .
We’d like to thank all the staff at Merseyrail for supporting the fundraising efforts on behalf of the charities and the customers who donate at the northern line stations that have our collection tins . We’d especially like thank Sally Ralston MBE from Merseyrail who coordinates all their efforts on behalf of the charities and we look forward to collecting in some of the stations again soon xx

💓 Tissues at the ready for an amazing update 💓

Skimble came into our care 16 months ago having been left on a train. He was terrified & showed this by lashing out for several months in his foster home. Thanks to his utterly amazing foster parents he slowly learnt to trust & we started the search for his forever home.... Months and months went by with very little interest but we always say the right home is out there, it's just a matter of time & the right person.

This is Skimble today happy & content in his FOREVER HOME 💓

THIS is why we always give them a chance, THIS is why our foster homes are so important, THIS is why sharing appeals is so important, you simply never know who will fall in love 💓

Yeti, one of our Caucasian pups is very sad because his food bowl is empty. He thinks his brother and sisters have eaten all his food! We are going through their biscuits at a very fast rate (they do enjoy their meals!), could you help? We are very short on our supply of Royal Canin starter maxi puppy biscuits. They are at the top of our Amazon wishlist to make them easier to find. We are also in desperate need of an incubator adapter if anyone is able to purchase that for us? 🐈😻WONDEROUS WALT IS LOOKING 👀 FOR HIS FOREVER HOME ❤️🏡

Walt is 6-months old and came to us with his brother, Wilf (no adopted), after they were found dumped in a backpack.

He likes to involve his fosterer in play, batting a ball back and forth. Walt is well-socialised, good eaters and love to cuddle up under the duvet or on a lap. He will make ideal companions, full of love and life.

He could be homed with other cats, a calm cat-savvy dog and children aged 5 years+
