Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary Rescue Me is a small foster home based rescue helping animals across Merseyside The more foster homes we have the more animals we can help.

Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary Registered Charity Number 1157210 is a small foster home based animal sanctuary in the Merseyside area, set up in July 2013. We primarily focus on rescuing unwanted/stray cats and rabbits, however we will aim to help any animal in need. We currently have several foster homes

throughout Merseyside and we are very keen to recruit more! To find out more information, please get in touch; [email protected]
We have a strict non-destruction policy and will keep every animal in our care until a forever home can be found. We carry out home visits on prospective new homes, this is to ensure that the area is safe/suitable and also provide a time for advice on adopting a rescue pet and answering any questions the prospective owner has. Home visits are not to look at how clean a house is or
what the decor is like! All Rescue Me animals are deflea'd, wormed, microchipped, neutered (if the animal is too young, he/she will be recalled for neutering). Our philosophy is to accept an animal into our care based solely on its need and not on any other physical characteristic, providing we have a suitable foster home free. We believe that by looking after a rescue pet in a home environment we are able to fully assess the animal, understand its needs and the type of home he/she will require and ultimately match them to a suitable home. We are very excited about our new venture but currently only have a handful of volunteers, with more support we can achieve things faster and rescue even more needy animals...please come and join us, we'll welcome you aboard!!! We are desperate for donations, please help to keep us afloat!! Paypal; [email protected]

Update - One of our lovely supporters has just contacted us to say that they wish to donate £40 to our Fair takings which takes our final total to £2,000.98 . Thank you so much ladies x

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who braved the atrocious weather today to support us at our Christmas Fair . We are delighted to tell you that despite the awful conditions we raised a fantastic £1,960.98 much needed funds for the Sanctuary.
We’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped to make the day such a success . Some of our helpers today travelled from as far away as Rawtenstall , Rock Ferry and Preston - even Santa travelled from Runcorn !
A big thank you also to our amazing bakers , fudge , jam , marmalade & preserves makers who once more did us proud. We also need to thank everyone who stepped up & helped transport everything to and from the hall .

Elf and all the staff are very upset, sadly not all outcomes at the centre are happy ones despite our best efforts.

We try our best to be a safe haven for transforming the lives of vulnerable companion animals who have encountered hardship but with these hand rear kittens we could not work our magic.

Having spent days trying to hand rear them and get them to feed it was obvious they were giving up on life no matter what we did.

With digestive issues, they were not gaining weight properly and they tested positive for Giardia, treatment was started but they were too weak and their immune systems not strong enough.

Our hearts are heavy and their foster carers are devastated but we must push on, as no doubt tomorrow will bring more companion animals in desperate need of our help and we will do our best for them, no matter what.

It costs us approx £700 per day to run our rescue and vet clinic. If you can help, no matter how small, please follow this link.

🐰 Perfect Pippin searching for a friendly new playmate 🐰

Pippin is a super affectionate bunny who adores company. We unsure of his age, but we know he’s a younger bun. He loves to lie at your feet relaxing in the evenings and watch TV while chattering his teeth with happiness. Pippin has been practising his grooming skills on his fosterer’s hands, socks or cushions while he’s stroked.

Pippin, like most bunnies, isn’t overly keen on being picked up, but does love any opportunity to be near you and has recently started to jump up on the sofa in his foster home, just to get nearer for a sneaky head stroke. He seems extremely happy being an indoor bunny, he is very tidy and always uses his litter tray.

Pippin loves his routine and spends most of the day in his pen on his rug or snuggled in hay, but he loves to run around the room in the morning and evening throwing in a few binkies! Pippin is the perfect gentleman but he does have a cheeky side and he definitely knows when it’s time for his morning greens or a little treat before his bedtime and he looks quite disappointed if they are not given on time! All in all…Pippin is absolutely adorable!

Pippin will need an enclosure of 3m x 2m to exercise in and a sleeping enclosure of 1.8m x 0.6m (minimum). He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. This will enable him to display his natural behaviour. He will be best suited as a companion for a single female or a pair of bunnies following a slow introduction and bonding.

If you’re interested in adopting little Pippin, please call 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption interview and fee applies. We’ll need to see photos of your current set up (if you have one).

Jake needs a loving home 🏠

Jake has had a sad life, spending the majority of his life in kennels.

He came to Rescue Me back in March after another rescue was forced to close its doors, having spent a long time there as a resident. He is a senior boy of ten years plus. He is hard of hearing, but in himself is still a busy little fellow that can happily spend his day tottering around and exploring our gardens and paddocks and is still very energetic.

Jake requires a special home. Whilst he is a lovely dog once he knows you, he does have issues with resource guarding which can make him snappy if not managed correctly. He requires somewhere with a lot of space as he is an independent boy who enjoys his freedom - and who can blame him after spending a life in a kennel environment?

He has settled with us well and is receptive to all the staff and volunteers here at Rescue Me, and has had minimal issues adapting to his new, hopefully temporary home, but we would love to see him get a permanent home as he is in his senior years and deserves it after his long history of kennel life. He is beginning to be receptive to training, but we do feel that his issues will need to be managed long term.

With introductions, Jake can live with other dogs - but consideration needs to be given to resources when living around other dogs to ensure that there is no potential for issues, so the ability to separate him to his own space around feeding times etc is something that would be required.

We would be looking for a home without cats or children.

Whilst we know that Jake requires a particular type of home, we do believe one is out there, and we’re prepared to wait for just the right one. He is a typical terrier and terrier savvy people/person who are used to little grumpy jacks is exactly what he needs.

Jake is neutered, vaccinated and has no known health issues. When he arrived, there was suggestion that he may have had a seizure once in his previous rescue but we haven't seen any issues with this at all over the extended period he has been with us and our vet has given him a clean bill of health.

If you think you may be the home for Jake, please complete an application form by following this link;

🌞🏖️ HERE COMES SUMMER 🌊🌻

Not quite ready for Summer to end? Neither are we! Why not add a little but of Summer to your home all year round! 🌞

Summer is now excited to announce that she is ready to find her forever home.

Summer has been with us now for a while, coming to us after being handed in as a stray at a local vets. She was spayed before making her way to us and she unfortunately suffered complications as a result. We suspect one of the sutures broke, which resulted in adhesions in her abdomen. This caused a stricture around her intestine, leaving her unable to p**p and needing further emergency surgery with us.

Her fosterer has been on P**p Patrol 💩for a while now, and can 100% confirm that she has no toileting concerns. She is also off all her medication now and is a bright happy girl. She has been a dream to look after and nurse back to complete health.

Summer is a young cat, around 18 months old and loves play time. She adores fishing rod toys and also just wants to be around humans as much as possible. She can be a bit fussy with her food but loves her Iams biscuits alongside either Sheba or Felix wet food. She is an inquisitive cat and has perfected most puzzle feeders for her dry food in foster already!

Summer would also appreciate safe, outdoor access after a period of time settling in.

She prefers all the attention to herself, so wouldn't be suitable for a home with other cats or dogs. Summer would be OK with sensible children who could respect her boundaries, as she isn't the biggest fan of being picked up. She can run around your legs when she's excited to see you, so it would be important to keep this in mind as a potential trip hazard for any family members.

Summer has been neutered, treated for parasites, microchipped and received her first vaccination. She is in foster in Preston but can be brought to our HQ in Melling for adoption. If you are interested in adopting Summer, please call 07952 017 696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

❤️😻PEEK IS LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME❣️🏡

Peek is 7-8 years old, who came to us under sad circumstances. Her owner was sadly taken to hospital and she was placed in a kennels by the authorities. She was there for 6 months before her owner passed away and she was left homeless. We just had to help the poor sad little girl. She was well-loved by her late owner and she does miss them 😿😿. She was a bit confused coming into foster but is settling well.

Peek can be homed as an INDOOR cat.

Peek is a big strong girls with a striking tortoiseshell coat. She enjoys head rubs and loves to knead a fleecy blanket whilst purring. She also loves to sit on her fosterer’s knee where she enjoys good tummy cuddles. She is gaining in confidence all the time and is now starting to enjoy proper play and chasing around 😻

Being a little timid, Peek took a little longer to be sure of her fosterer but has come round really well. She is welcoming more comfort and is enjoying cuddles and purrs when having a fuss. She is a curious little girl but was a little scared at the change in her life. With an understanding adopter willing to give Peek time, show her she is safe and loved, she will become her happy, sweet self again.

Peek is in foster on Wirral and has been neutered, chipped, parasite treated and has had her first vaccination. She will need a quiet pet-free home, with an experienced cat owner, who understands Torties and their special traits. Any children in a home will need to be aged 12 years+.

If interested in adopting Peek, please call us on 07952017696 and leave a voicemail. Adoption fee and vetting applies.

Today that Naughty Elf visits Sadie to see how we are spending funds that you donate.

Sadie's story is a sad one so don't read if you are likely to get upset.
Like all of our pets, Sadie cannot talk but she communicates well with us, she can't tell us the reason she arrived at our doors but we will do our best to explain why.

She was born at the begining of June, with debilitating issues, probably a result of her genetic lines. Not least a cleft palate making it impossible for her to suckle from her mamma's milk and every feed risked her life.

As we are one of the few centres in the Country that have dedicated staff trained in tube feeding, along with the knowledge and experience of this process which can go on for many weeks, we were able to nurse her through to being able to eat solid food.
As Sadie got older, it was apparent that she had further issues, primarily, she was showing signs of a neurological problems.
Sadie now lives at the sanctuary so that we can monitor her quality of life closely and keep her under close supervision. She is surrounded by love and care every day. Despite her challenges, she has found her place here and enjoys a happy, fulfilling life alongside our other resident dogs who also call the sanctuary home.

She shares her days with other doggy friends who, like her, face their own unique obstacles but thrive in the supportive and understanding environment we provide. Whether it’s playtime in the secure outdoor areas, cozy naps in warm beds, or the one-on-one attention she receives from our dedicated staff, Sadie is surrounded by kindness and companionship and lives her life to the fullest.

Each day we help unwanted pets like Sadie and we need regular funds to do so. If you can donate regularly to help them, please consider clicking here;

Time for a couple of quick “ thank you” mentions
On Sunday our friends & neighbours at Carla Lane Animals in Need invited us to have a stall at their Christmas Fair . We took our teddies along & did our usual Teddy Tombola which raised a useful £116.97 . We’d like to say thank you to everyone who supported us , Carla Lane for inviting us and our wonderful volunteers Celia , Linda , James & Emily aka Daisy the dog for their sterling help.

Yesterday our fundraisers were in action again at Morrisons in Southport where we raised a further £226.80 much needed funds for the Sanctuary . Once again huge thanks to everyone who supported us on an absolutely dreadful day and to our lovely volunteers Angie , Jill , Marian , Emily & James aka Arlo the reindeer who braved the rain & wind to come along to help .

🐈‍⬛ Panther like Pumpkin 🐈‍⬛

Meet 3-year old, sleek, stunning Pumpkin who came to us as an unwanted stray and has been waiting for some time… we can't understand why 😔

Pumpkin is an easy going gorgeous all black silky cat. When moving to his foster house he quickly made himself at home. He is a nosey cat and loves being in the company of people, often following his foster family from room to room to see what they are up to. When not doing this his favourite spot is to sit in the window watching the world go by. If you close the door to a room you can count on him being waiting outside for your return. When he gets inpatient waiting he likes to stick his paws under the door to let you know he's still there. When initially moving into his foster house he was a bit reluctant to be picked up and stroked and petting was completely on his terms. However now he has settled in with his foster family he loves the occasional stroke and will purr away with content. He now also likes to sleep in bed with his fosterers at night and loves to lie on peoples chests as he sleeps. He is still warming to being picked up.

Pumpkin has never lived with cats, dogs or children, so it would be best for any children to be 12+. Pumpkin needs a patient and loving home, where he can continue to grow in confidence and form close friendships at his own pace.

He has been neutered, microchipped, parasite treated and fully vaccinated. If you're interested in adopting this beautiful boy, please call 07952017696 and leave a voicemail.

Adoption fee and vetting applies.

That Elf has taken a look into our surgical room to see Peach being operated on by our vet.

You may recall that in May, Peach was one of a litter of eight one day old puppies that came to us from West Lanc's and we spent many a sleepless night handrearing them. It was hard work: initialy hand feeding every two hours.

Happy and healthy, she was adopted by Nadine and now lives life to the full in Cheshire.

Because we care about our previous residents and with your support we have the finances to be able to continue through with our campaign, preventing unwanted puppies, Peach is with us to be spayed.

Please consider supporting us on an ongoing basis by giving £10 a month, it helps to be able to plan ahead for the next litter needing help.
