For Dogs’ Sake Treats

For Dogs’ Sake Treats What it says - fresh doggy treats & celebration cakes. NO added preservatives, fillers, colouring/flavours. APHA & DEFRA registered. All made to order.

suitable for all ages, breeds and sizes of dog. Including sensitive tummys or picky eaters Our dog is very much part of the family. So as with kids it was important she ate healthily. So when Bella started vomiting blood when she ate shop bought food & treats, I did a lot of research and spoke to vets and dog nutrition specialists, dog trainers etc. I eventually developed what became winning reci

pes. With zero preservatives, fillers, flavouring, colouring etc. No more vomiting blood, (IBD)which was triggered by the additives in all the shop bought food and treats. Our dog and all the other dogs In the park or on the street, loved them (even the "fussy eaters"). So much so I was giving some as birthday presents to her doggie mates in the park. Dog owners started asking if they could buy them as their dogs were mad for them and they were very healthy. So after getting incredibly positive feedback, requests and recommendations the business started itself! At the moment I now have a variety of meat, fish & vegetarian treats. Most are available to meet specific dietary needs on request. All my treats are handmade by me in my annually inspected kitchen with fresh meat, fruit or veg. Absolutely NO additives/ preservatives and everything can be frozen. Some treats have a tiny bit of honey or peanut butter - always organic. Ingredients are sourced locally from small businesses, helping our local economy and the planet with less transporting ingredients across the country or world! All whilst helping our pooches to stay happy and healthy. I now sell to police dogs in training as they found a noticeable difference in trains using my treats. I'm thrilled to say my treats have helped so many fussy eaters eat their meals, dogs with sensitive tummies, training, recall, behaviour issues, and so much more. Plus my most popular product - dogcakes help folk create such wonderful memories with their loyal companions who unfortunately are never with us long enough. Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue & Rescue Me Sanctuary, worked hard together to make this VERY poorly little fella much better, and happier and even found him his furever home. It took ALOT of money, medical attention, love and care. Not just to make him better, but to find the pawfect home too.

This is just one of the many unfortunate dogs they have helped and rescued.

So I'm so thrilled that my lovely followers nominated Phoenix as the recipient of my Christmas sales, cash donation. I will also be donating freshly made treats to Rescue Me Santuary.

It's lovely to see two small rescues working together for the benefit of the rescues. We can achieve so much more if we work together rather than against each other... especially when you're small businesses or small charities. When you support small, more goes to what you are actually supporting... not shareholders or directors bonuses.

Follow us to see when I visit to make my donations.

Top of our road in the last windy storm. And lots more like that and branches around the streets. It left a lot of trees much weaker too.

So be careful when walking your dog today - high winds. They were saying amber warning expected in Merseyside. NWales, N Ireland & Scotland expected to be hit too.
1. Avoid walking (if poss) near/under trees and around parks.
2. Don't let your dog off lead. The wind throws their orientation completely. Smells and sounds moving all over the place. At the least they will be confused. Worst they will be totally unpredictable because theyre scared or bolt after something that's not there.

SAFETY FIRST. Bella loves her walks. But she'll get shorter lead walks only today and more stimulating games indoors

1. Has it been sat on the shelf for a long time? Is it's best before date months or years later?
If yes to either of those questions, it's certainly NOT fresh. And to last that long, they will be pumped full of preservatives and other additives (except SOME dehydrated treats). Do you really think that's healthy??

2. If Animal or meat by-product is listed on the packaging, it's definitely NOT healthy!
These can be any part of any animal that isn't fit for human consumption. It's used to bulk out pet's food or treats cheaply.

3. Brightly coloured treats are unlikely to be healthy.
Artificial colouring used has zero benefits. Some even have a negative impact in the long-term or short-term. My products are made with fresh fruit or veg if colour is needed. No artificial colouring, preservatives, fillers, or any other nasty additives

4. Dry mass-produced treats (often well-known brands stocked in many shops) are made in bulk, so blasted at VERY high temperatures for speed and less cost. However, this method kills any nutritional value. Another way mass-produced treats are made even more cheaply is by packing them with fillers. These are cheaper, but they have no benefit/nutrition.

You might think your dog has no problem with any of the above. I promise it's not doing them any favours long-term.

If you want to try some freshly handmade treats you can buy sample packs on my website www.fordogssaketreats.co.uk (link in bio). Keep following this page as I will be offering (for a limited time only), A pack of sample treats that will save you £££s

Molly the Collie - another one of Bellas life long friends just gone over the rainbow bridge. It really brings home how short a time we have with these precious angels😢

Molly was a rescue, but with her dad for over 9.5 years (thats how long Bella has known her). She was one of the best natured dogs anyone could meet, who loved to quietly stalk squirrels (often alongside Bella). Watch the ducks, or even try to herd geese flying in the sky😆

Despite having arthritis for many years she could still give the younger dogs a run for their money. She could even be a bit of a flirt with younger male dogs sometimes😄

Molly was a life long friend of bellas, but for many years now has also been a regular treat customer. So much so she had her own 2 named bags (empty one to bring back, when she picked up her filled one with ordered treats).

Run free Molly with so many of your old friends. You are all missed so much. They're never JUST a dog💔

Bur if you're like me, you probably prefer chocolate to fruit &veg. But everything in moderation. Same goes for your dog.

You might like the look of quirky, colourful treats, over the boring looking treats. But I can guarantee your dog won't be bothered about pettiness or colour. They're interested in flavour, smell and texture

But all in moderation. So maybe occasionally treat YOURSELF to giving your dog a quirky treat. But NOT on a regular basis.

If you give your dog healthier treats, your dog will love them and they would improve your bond with your dog, their behaviour and of course health.

But if you give them the quirky treats regularly, it might seem OK initially...BUT I can guarantee it won't do them any favours in the long term.

Healthy doesn't have to be dehydrated animal parts. For Dogs’ Sake Treats are healthy and convenient. They're packaged in resealable, freezer safe, recyclable packaging. Plus NO ADDED preservatives, colouring, flavouring, fillers or animal by-products.

Just 7 of the things I've learned, in the 7 years I have been cooking fir dogs:

1. We all have a choice. We can choose cheap or quality. Cheap can lead to vet bills or behavioural problems. Neither are cheap!

2. If used correctly, quality treats can improve bonds, health, behaviour, and longevity.

3. Cheap treats MAY be OK short term (for some dogs). But usually build up to some nasty long-term effects.

4. The word "healthy" on a label, often isn't actually healthy! If it has meat by products (defo NOT healthy). If it has a very long shelf life (decorate NOT healthy). If it is artificially brightly coloured (NOT healthy). If it's bleached like raw hides (defo NOT healthy). These are just the basics to look out for. There are many more giveaways.

5. The impact of high value treats on training has been proven massively beneficial. High value treats like livercake are known to be more effective than sausages, cheese, or other commercial treats for training and recall.

6. One dog might be OK eating gravy bones, but my Bella definitely isn't... at the least, she would have
worse vomit blood.

7. The importance of the method of cooking. Most mass-produced treats are blasted at high temperatures to cook quickly. But this method removes any nutritional value.

If you want fresh, handmade quality treats made specifically for your dogs' needs, just dm to find out what would best suit them.

Our Story

Like most dog owners our dog is very much part of the family. So as with my kids it was important she ate healthily. Shop bought healthy treats are so expensive and not as healthy as I would have liked them to be - with preservatives etc. Plus they weren't tempting enough for recall (especially as a pup). So I resorted to cheese or sausages - not the healthiest. Eventually I decided to try and make my own. After a lot of reading I started making what turned out to be winning recipes. Our dog and all the other dogs In the park or on the street, loved them (even the "fussy eaters"). So much so I was giving some as birthday presents to her doggie mates in the park. Dog owners started asking if they could buy them as their dogs were mad for them and they were very healthy. So after getting incredibly positive feedback from the trial goodie bags I gave out in our local park. I've decided to give it a go. At the moment I have 4 main treats (meat, fish, vegetarian and gluten free), but have ideas for more varieties. All my treats are homemade by me in my kitchen with fresh meat, fruit or veg. Absolutely NO additives/ preservatives and so far everything can be frozen. Some treats have the likes of peanut butter or tiny bit of honey - always organic. I hope to eventually source everything locally to help other local small businesses. So helping our pooches to stay happy and healthy will also help the local economy. SO watch this space!!!
