We started feeding our Husky raw years ago, Simba sadly hes crossed the rainbow now. It was very different then. We then reverted back to freeze dried raw, through time and the fact not many places sold raw it was a case of buying from the local butcher, supplementing his food it was slop really more than anything and bones. My other dogs had freeze dried raw, the husky came as a puppy on raw. When we brought our Boerboels home, the breeder gave ourselves lots of information on homeopathic and natural feeding and worming. I started to research on the big wide web. I found Raw again, and a local shop who were great and had lots of great information. Me being me and having 3 large African Mastiffs the Boerboel it was costing a huge amount I wanted to do a small shop I found that North Sefton and towards Preston had no shop, this would coincide with my other dog business well, a secure dog fields Doggyvipfield. With the huge hole in the market. Nobody wants to travel that far and the cost of shipping Raw is a lot from suppliers. I decided if Im going to do this I needed to be qualified in not only nutrition which I did the course in that first and then went onto Raw nutrition, it was a long road but I learnt so much and it wasn't easy I found it hard. I had so much to learn in not much time either. But I worked hard day and night along side two jobs and running the doggy fields. Once I was qualified after 8 months of intense work I went to work on contacting suppliers. This wasn't an easy road either. Its been tough I will tell you!! I won't supply bad meat I test on my own dogs first and then I sell the food, Mastiffs generally eat anything but if they turn their nose up at something its not good. I won't bad mouth any brand but some really are so bad even mastiffs won't eat. I sell two main brands βThe Dogs Butcherβ and βCanine Kitchenβ Basically for quality and local demand. I also sell allot of natural treats of various brands. mainly JR Pet foods because their range has single proteins and allot of customers have dogs that have allergies or problems with certain proteins and they need that guarantee that some dont have chicken or some dont have duck etc lots of cheap alternatives have mixed to keep the price down. I also sell Anco for their have such great products and customer service.
So I have 3 Boerboels, Freud my big lad, Stitch his litter sister, and Freya his mating partner, Ive not mated them she's a top breed bitch from Denmark, but she's part of our family and it can be risky breeding large breed dogs for their size and we just love her. Stitch and Freud are red and Freya is the more rare Brindle. We also have a blue staff Sky who is now 10 years of age but runs round like a 3 year old and causes mayhem with the mastiffs.
My Name is Samantha Howard Im married to Paul and we have a son Dylan who is now 19.
My mother in law Jenny helps a huge amount with the fields and shop and you will probably meet all of us at some point if you are regulars, although Paul doesn't have anything to do with the Fields or the shop as hes very busy running his businesses you will see him around the yard or with his chickens and geese. Dylan and Jenny do help out.
