PIPPA STILL NEEDS A HOME 😥🤍

Pippa is making amazing improvements the vet is happy with the progress in her skin, she requires a medicated bath twice a week. She is eating well and starting to gain weight quickly ♥️

Pippa is now on the look out for her forever home🏡 She definitely deserves 5* treatment and lots of love and cuddles while she recovers♥️
Pippa is only a young pup around 7 months old so requires a home that has the time to train her, like any young pup would need♥️

Pippa can live with children 12+. She is not reactive but is very full on and still learning manners around other dogs so we are looking for a pet free home for her.

I've posted this as it's a brilliant example of how not to have your child interact with any dog no matter how long you have had it...

Truly dominant behaviour between dogs is barely noticeable to the untrained human eye, it just takes the form of a quiet confidence. It's also generally about resources. So If your dog is pulling, lunging and barking - they are most likely trying to maintain their own safe space.

Got shouted at today for having my van parked outside someone's house helping an 84yr old lady with her dog advising her on training, apparently I shouldn't

Had my pic taken today in the park by a lady who didn't like one of the dogs I was walking came to see her dog.they never made any contact and Her dog was also off lead too by the way. Agreed its not ideal for one dog to run towards another to greet them. Unfortunately she felt the need to get all agressive and confront me even though I said sorry he did come back to me by the way when i whistled and i tried to explain they were fine and still training, dont think she heard that bit. I also tried to walk away from her to difuse the incident she continued to follow me, saying things as she did. Then she felt the need to confront me yet again by my van.and take more pictures and threatened to put it all over fb ...if the dog had wanted to attack believe me he would but he hasn't a bad bone In his body. Unfortunately that meant it was the end of her nice walk with her dog I think. Shame.

I have to say it would be incredibly stupid to let a dog off lead in a park with other dogs around if they were agressive and not great for business since I have a van advertising it parked near by.

Really shook me up tbh having someone track you down threaten you and take pictures. I don't appreciate being made to feel threatened, intimidated or not safe in my local park from other walkers.

MIND YOUR MANNERS!

The safe and polite way to interact with a dog.

Would you like to have a choice in the matter and give your consent to a stranger invading your personal space or touching you? Would you feel safe if a stranger behaved like this? What would you do if someone did this to you?

If your attempts to communicate that this wasn’t ok were ignored, would you perhaps react aggressively to make that person go away?

This all makes sense to us, but so many people fail to see that dogs can feel the same way when approached by someone.

Dogs are so often not given a choice or have not indicated their consent to being approached or touched and then we are shocked when they may react aggressively.

One of my dogs is highly sensitive and reactive towards strange people and other dogs. I continually repeated to visitors at home- please give her space, please don’t stick your hand near her, please ignore her and let her decide if she wants to interact with you.

My words were so often ignored and sometimes resulted in an aggressive reaction to that person.

The person would be really shocked at her reaction. I’ve even been told – “I thought you were a behaviourist, what is wrong with your dog, why is she behaving like this?”

She behaved like this because she was not given a choice to interact, did not give her consent and her personal space was invaded – she didn’t feel safe. She reacted in the only way she knew how, to make that person leave her alone.

As people, we expect this right, yet often fail to understand that our dogs are also entitled to this.

Consent and choice are a right of every living being. Consent and choice = feeling safe.

Thinking of putting some old slug pellets down? Check the ingredients first. Metaldehyde, a type of slug pellet, is dangerous to dogs and now illegal to use in the UK.
