🙀 Oh my, what big... everything you have! 🙀

🐱 Big Bertha arrived at RSPCA Birmingham Animal Centre and Hospital in October after she was found abandoned inside a sports bag in a park 😢

She weighed in at a whopping 11.8kg and was extremely matted. A vet carefully clipped away her matting, but she was still too large to live in a cat pod! Luckily, she's been on a strict diet and exercise regime with a foster carer and is making amazing progress ❤️‍🩹

Hi humans, I'm Biggie Smalls (Biggie for short!) a gorgeous 7 year old ginger boy looking for my forever family.
As you may have noticed, I do only have one eye, but that doesn't stop me from doing everything that any other cat can do!
I was initially nervous coming into the cattery, but quickly found my confidence and am now a big confident love bug.
I like to spend my time relaxing in my bed or in my cat tree, and love every opportunity to be fussed, sometimes making biscuits with my paws and purring away. I feel as though I would make a great companion as I have so much love to give and love getting cuddled.

I don't really like other cats that I have met, so I would need to be housed as the only pet in the house, with children of any age that know how to give me love and know to stop when I have had enough.
If you think you could be the one for me, please fill in a perfect match form via our website www.rspca-southport.org/adopting 🐾

*SPECIAL APPEAL FOR OUR PSBs Partially Sighted Buns!'* 😍

Rex rabbits Rhonda and Rocky are possibly two of the most endearing, affectionate and calamitous bunnies you could wish to meet! They are looking for a home where they can live indoors in a space (like their own room) that can be maintained as it is so they can map out their enclosure and know where everything is. This is because they are both visually impaired as a result of cataracts. Given this it seems more likely the pair were abandoned by their owner rather than having escaped an enclosure and found stray; thank goodness they were found so quickly. Blood tests have revealed that this is a congenital issue as opposed to anything parasitic or viral. Their eyes are likely to worsen over time and any adopter will need to make sure they monitor the eyes for any changes. But being visually impaired will not stop the bunnies living life to the max and enjoying a life-long bond with you. Looking after bunnies with additional needs is incredibly rewarding.

The pair are often found sitting on top of their cardboard box together, standing on their hind legs trying to get the attention of nearby staff and volunteers. Watching them get up onto the box can be interesting, as sometimes it takes them a couple of tries! They are a gorgeous, friendly, confident pair, who really enjoy each other's company, as well as attention from us uprights. They will come bounding over for headrubs and to give you a good sniff the second you enter their pen, and they will be all over you as soon as you sit down beside them.

We believe that Rhonda and Rocky are siblings and probably no more than 1 to 2 years of age. They have been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and are ready to find their new home together now. If you would like to meet them please contact [email protected]

⚠️❄️ With weather warnings issued for snow, ice and freezing temperatures, it's vital for pet owners to keep an eye on the forecast and plan ahead to ensure the safety of your pawesome pets.

Check out our top tips for keeping pets safe in cold weather: http://bit.ly/3wb1pcu

⚠️ WEATHER WARNING ⚠️

Many parts of the UK are expecting an arctic blast this week, so please take extra care to make sure your outdoor rabbits are protected from the cold 🌨️

❄️ Cover outdoor housing with blankets or tarpaulin to keep the wind and rain out.

❄️ Add more bedding hay or straw for extra insulation to keep the heat in.

❄️ Wrap water bottles in bubble wrap or cover them with a thermal sock or glove to prevent the water from freezing. The metal spout will be very cold and can cause a burns to the mouth. Provide a water bowl too and put a heat pad underneath it to prevent freezing.

❄️ Move rabbit housing into a garage or shed for extra protection.

❄️ As a last resort, you can bring them inside - but remember sudden temperature changes can be distressful to outdoor rabbits so make sure they are kept in a cool room.

🐶👅 Lovely Lucky is sending you lots of licks and kisses this !

This handsome boy came into our care as his welfare needs were sadly not being met. Despite this, he's a friendly fella who loves nothing more than cuddles, being fussed and playing with his toys🏀

He's looking for a quieter adult-only home with someone around most of the day as he adores human company. Could he be your new canine companion? 🥰

Are houseplants dangerous to rabbits? 🪴

As there are so many different species of houseplants, it’s impossible to list which ones are toxic and which ones are safe, so it’s better to be conscious of them all. After all, rabbits are curious creatures and will eat anything they can sink their teeth into! So even if a houseplant is safe for buns, it might not be around for much longer… 😋🐰🪴👀

If you do keep houseplants and indoor rabbits, please make sure to keep all your plants out of reach of your rabbits. And if you notice any leaves or petals about to drop within rabbit reach, please snip them off and dispose of them.

Dougal came into our care last year at three weeks old after being seized from a property with 83 rabbits. The case took a long time to go through the court system, but now that it has, this friendly boy is ready to find his forever home as a house rabbit with a ladybun for companionship. Dougal is in a foster home enjoying a room all to himself (for some reason he doesn't venture out, even with the door open!). His foster family say:

'Dougal has an inquisitive nature that is largely ruled by his belly! Despite his penchant for tasty snacks he has never nibbled wires or furniture. What he does enjoy is shredding newspaper, chewing cardboard and 'decorating' his room with hay!

Aside from that he is a clean boy when it comes to his toilet habits. He has two trays, one for wee and one for eating. When it comes breakfast time he will come running over to be fed. He definitely needs plenty of things to keep him occupied e.g. cardboard, twigs, newspaper etc and this prevents cheeky teeth nibbling.
Dougal can be a stroppy loppy; everything is on his own terms. If he isn't in the mood for you he will stomp and flick his back legs at you. But when he is in the mood for attention he has this funny routine whereby he goes and sits in his litter tray to wait to be picked up and/or have a fuss. If you take him for a lap cuddle he will sit on your lap being stroked and having a snooze! He is well known for spending a good half an hour licking the crook of your arm and snuggling right in. He is definitely a boy who knows his own mind, but that really is part of his charm. We also think he would, with gentle persuasion, enjoy the company of a female rabbit.'

Dougal is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and looking to be a house bunny with a calm, lady bunny friend. We offer a foster to bond scheme, contact us for more info and to meet him! [email protected]
