Expectations....
I’d just like to write a little post about limitations on grooming depending on your dogs behaviour.
These two dogs were done on the same day (one after the other) by the same groomer.
The one on the left has a beautifully well maintained coat, lovely nature, very confident and kept nice and still throughout the groom.
The one on the right, although he’s a lovely boy, he HATES the groomers, can get quite snappy, crocodile rolls, and is extremely unhappy and fidgety throughout. Which as you can imagine impedes on the overall finish of the groom.
It’s worth noting that we can only do so much with some dogs and our main priority is always the welfare and wellbeing of our four legged customers, even if that means sacrificing the overall “look” to ensure they are clean knot free and comfortable.
Sometimes it is impossible to get “the perfect” groom without risking injury to either the dog or ourselves, sometimes it can be just too dangerous to carry on.
As groomers we rely on our hands and fingers to work and unfortunately for us we do get bitten and snapped at on a regular basis. All we ask is a bit of understanding for what CAN be done rather than what you WANT to be done.
This post has been prompted by a post from a customer of another groomer local to me, who was being bad mouthed on social media over having to send a home a dog unfinished. This was because the dog was being aggressive, which on this particular occasion I witnessed.
We are only human, we do love your dogs, we don’t love being bitten and we HATE sending dogs home not finished ☹️
