PYOMETRA - Please read Sweetie’s story ⬇️
Sweetie is a 9 year old bitch who was visiting us to be spayed. After opening her up, it come as a shock to see her womb full of pus, Sweetie in fact had a serious womb infection. (Swipe for pictures)
Her owners were unaware she had Pyometra as they’d not noticed any symptoms. Luckily enough for Sweetie, it had been caught it just in time.
Unfortunately, any female intact dog can contract Pyometra, which is why we strongly advise that if you are not breeding your bitch then we highly recommend you have them spayed.
Please read for more information and educate yourself ‼️⬇️
𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝑷𝒚𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒂?
Pyometra is an infection of the uterus which can potentially be life threatening if it’s not caught early. This infection occurs in pets who are not spayed and is a result of hormonal changes after a heat cycle. Pyometra requires emergency medical attention.
𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒚𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒂?
Symptoms of Pyometra usually begin 4-8 weeks after a heat cycle. The symptoms include:
* Drinking more than usual
* Vomiting
* Pus leaking from vulva/vagina
* Bloated abdomen (tummy)
* Panting and weakness
* Poor appetite
* Weeing more than usual
𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒔 𝑷𝒚𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅?
The preferred treatment of Pyometra is to remove the bi***es womb. If the bitch is NOT treated, the pus filled uterus will rupture causing the pus to fill the abdomen and the chance of survival is very slim.

❌ DOG TOXINS ❌ Before you give your dog new foods, please research whether this can be toxic for them. Some toxins cause reactions straight away, whilst others may cause symptoms hours or days later. Some signs to look out for if your dog has ingested something toxic are, vomiting, severe salivation, loss of appetite, nausea, pale gums, racing heartbeat, weak & lethargic. ‼️READ CAPTION‼️ Foreign object surgery in dogs is a medical procedure that involves removing an object that has been ingested, inserted, or lodged in the body of a dog. The success of the surgery depends on various factors, including the size and type of the object, the location of the obstruction, and how quickly the dog receives medical attention. Therefore, it is essential to seek medical attention as soon as possible if you suspect that your dog has ingested or inserted an object. Foreign object surgery in dogs is not without risks. Like any surgery, there is a risk of bleeding, infection, or other complications. It is crucial to discuss the potential risks and benefits of the surgery with a qualified veterinarian before undergoing the procedure. Foreign object surgery in canines is a serious procedure that requires prompt medical attention to ensure the best possible outcome for the dog. It is crucial to discuss any concerns or questions you may have with your veterinarian and follow their instructions carefully before and after the surgery.
