❤️‍🩹 Regenerative Medicine ❤️‍🩹

If you've been here a little while you'll know that Magic Merlin lives with some health conditions ❤️‍🩹

Back in March we started the journey of stem cell therapy in the hope of helping his poorly joints 💕

Merlin had a procedure to harvest fat cells from his abdomen. These cells were then cultured in the lab for a few weeks to isolate the stem cells. When the cells were ready, they were then injected into all the different areas of his body that needed it 💖

Stem cells are amazing and can develop into different types of tissues and can activate surrounding cells to aid in wound healing and tissue repair 🪄

After a period of rest (and lots of enrichment and brain training 😅🧠), slowly building up exercise alongside weekly laser therapy sessions, today we had our 6 week check up! The amazing vets at Greenside were very pleased with the progress we've made so far 🥺🌟

From a behaviour perspective, Merlin has got his spark back ✨️🥺 his mood has improved, he is more playful, happy to go on walks and get into the car thanks to being in less discomfort 💛

Today was really emotional looking back on how far we've come and although we're still on a journey with more treatments needed, the future is feeling much brighter for my super brave little bean ✨️💛🌟☀️

For a rescue dog who has always struggled with vet handling, I'm ✨️super ✨️ proud of us getting to this stage using cooperative care and some blooming amazingly considerate and animal centred vet professionals 🥺

Shout out to our fab GP vets Riverside Vet and Charlotte the physio who have been with us every step of Merlin's journey too - thank you for your advice, patience and embracing our pocket snuffle mat and rainbow table to help sessions be as positive as they can be - it really does take a village 🥺🏘💜

🎉Congratulations!!🎉

We would like to say a huge congratulations to Jordan, our Student Veterinary Nurse, who found out today that she has passed her final practical exams and will now be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a “Registered Veterinary Nurse”

Jordan has worked so hard for this and the whole team are very proud of her!

The course is a gruelling 2 years of theory, placements and practical sessions all while she also worked full time.

Well done Jordan!!

🔧 Building works 🔧

Over the coming weeks we will be undergoing some refurbishment works at all 3 of our sites.

We will be working hard with the teams involved to limit the impact on clients and patients but it may involve some changes to how we work.

Watch out on social media for any last minute changes and we will contact clients individually if need be.

The work begins today at Livingston and will include the closure of part of the car park meaning the one way system will not be in place while we have some work done to the roof.

Please bare with us while this much needed work is carried out.
