🐾Winnie’s spay day🐾

Winnie attended us on Friday for her ovariohysterectomy. She was a calm and well-behaved patient throughout the procedure and recovery. Post-operatively, she recovered uneventfully and was discharged the same day with appropriate analgesia and home care advice provided to the owners. And we’re so glad to say she is recovering really well. Spaying not only prevents unplanned puppies but also reduces the risk of health problems such as pyometra and certain cancers later in life.

Attention all sheep farmers:
The new Gwaredu Scab project is re-opening on 1st October 2025.

Sheep Scab is one of the major disease risks for the sheep industry and can be spread through failures of biosecurity, complex movement patterns, and the mixing of sheep
on and off farms, such as through common grazing.

If you think you have scab and in order to qualify to take part in the scheme, you must first contact Gwaredu scab 01554 748576.

🌟 Bruce’s Recovery Story 🌟

Bruce, a lovely 4-year-old working Border Collie, had a scary accident while out on the farm when he got alkaline chemical burns to his eye from a sheep footbath.

Vet Gareth acted fast, flushing his eye until the pH was neutral. Vet Karen continued his treatment to help the ulcer on his eye heal fully. Thanks to his owners bringing him straight in and the emergency care he received, Bruce has now made a fantastic recovery and is back to his happy, hardworking self. 🐾❤️

Husky Puppies In for Their First Vaccinations 🐾

These beautiful husky puppies came in today for their very first vaccinations. This important milestone helps protect them from preventable diseases and gives them the best start in life.

Starting vaccines early is key to protecting puppies against serious diseases, and visits like this also helps them get comfortable in a vet environment from day one.

They’re now on the right track for a healthy and happy start in life 🐶

🐾 Cooper’s Big Day 🐾

Cooper, a 1-year-old Bull Terrier, came in feeling very unwell. Our vet Karen ran blood tests and X-rays, and when Cooper was sedated she was able to feel a foreign object lodged in his intestine. It was all hands on deck as he was taken straight into theatre, where the object was safely removed.

We’re happy to share that Cooper made a speedy recovery and is already back to his happy, bouncy self! 💙

🐾Missy🐾

Sweet Missy was in with Vet Mel today for an abdominal ultrasound. She stayed very relaxed throughout the scan and enjoyed a cuddle with Nurse Niah, which helped her feel calm. Such a beautiful little cat.

🐱Meet Giggs, he is an 8 week old kitten found by a member of Hay Animal Rescue Team - HART, who came in to us being very malnourished and fragile.

🐾Giggs needed urgent surgery to repair a large inguinal hernia — a serious condition where a hole in his abdominal wall is letting his intestines spill into his groin. It could be something he was born with, or the result of trauma. Without surgery, his intestines could strangulate, causing a life-threatening emergency. Giggs also had four broken ribs so we had to be extra careful when handling him.

💙He's now resting and healing. His recovery will take time, but he's safe, loved, and finally getting the care he deserves.

We wish him a full and speedy recovery🫶
