Please remember to stay vigilant and be aware of the signs and bird flu. A further case has also been confirmed in North Wales.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 has been confirmed at a premises near Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone have been put in place around the premises.

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) with mandatory biosecurity measures is also in force across Great Britain.

All bird keepers must follow the stringent biosecurity measures in addition to following any Protection/Surveillance Zone restrictions in their area to prevent future outbreaks.

Unfortunately we have had a black male cat brought in to us from the Windy Corner, Pencader area of Llandysul.

He is currently in a serious condition and we are trying to stabilise him as best we can.

🐰These 2 lovely rabbits were in for a consult on Saturday. Just a check over and advice about neutering in the future. It can be hard to distinguish between young male and female rabbits when they are young so it is good to get advice in case they are a mixed pair.

🐰 They were happy to be handled and enjoyed some cuddles with our vet Vicky, nurse Claire and their young owner.

Show some love to Maude and Alice the lovely Guinea Pigs that have been in to see us this afternoon to have their nails clipped. It is good routine care for them.

They were rewarded by smiles and hug from Megan and Elin.

The govenments recently announcement the return of pet passports under a new UK-EU deal

But what do we know?

At present we know very little about when we will be able to issue them or what rules will be attached to them.

Below is a BBC news artical which discusses this subject and the main take away point is that:

"The UK and EU have commited to introducing a new passport system which would make it easier for people to travel with their pets and end the need to acquire repeat vet certificates.

However, so-called pet passports come under a part of the deal known as the sanitary and phytosanitary agreement - and while the UK and EU have agreed to work together in this area, the full scope of it has not been fully fleshed out yet."

🐾So if you are planning on travelling with your pet this summer the likelhood is you will still need to follow the rules we have in place at the moment. This will mean you will need an animal health certificate, please allow yourself time to arrange this. 🐾
