๐Ÿพ Today is International Dog Day. It's a day to celebrate your own dog and also to think about the huge number of dogs in the UK that currently don't have homes.

๐Ÿพ Every day dogs are abandoned or sent to charities for rehoming - for a variety of reasons.

๐Ÿพ If you are looking for a new pet - think about giving a home to one in a rescue - if you are able to.

๐Ÿพ Let's celebrate all dogs today for all the love and joy they bring us. This is our dog Zoom when he was a puppy.

Young adult cat looking for a home ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿพ

We posted a few weeks ago about this young cat that was brought in as a stray to us.

As nobody has come forward, we would like to try and find him a home.

๐Ÿพ He is lovely and friendly and has now been neutered. He is being well looked after by our vets and nurses but he really deserves a permanent and loving home.

If you feel that you could provide a home for him, please can you get in touch either by
๐Ÿพ Facebook message or
๐Ÿพby emailing us [email protected]

Our phone lines are very busy at the moment so we would prefer it if you could use the message or email options.

Yes, adding ice cubes to your dogโ€™s water can be a great way to help them cool off when itโ€™s hot. But thereโ€™s one big exception:

๐ŸงŠ If your dog is showing signs of heatstroke, icy water can make things worse.

๐ŸงŠ Thatโ€™s because it can make them shiver, which actually builds up more heat.

๐ŸงŠ Signs your pooch might be suffering include excessive panting, pacing or drooling.

๐ŸงŠ In this case, use room-temperature water and a fan to cool them off. Call your vet if youโ€™re worried.

Lovely to see flour doing so well.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™UPDATE ON FLOUR๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

FLOUR came to us on Tuesday and whilst he was obviously very skinny we very quickly noticed that things weren't right with him. He had severe diarrhea and didn't seem right at all. We took him quickly to the vets yesterday (where he was super lovely with everyone he met๐Ÿ’™). The vets did some initial bloods and scans on him. It was obvious that something wasn't right internally so he went in for emergency surgery last night.๐Ÿฅน

They found lots of adhesions inside, his intestines were all tangled up and his spleen was nearly all dead tissue. The vets operated for hours on him, removed his spleen and untangled his intestines. Their impression was that it's been like this for quite a while ๐Ÿ’” Poor Boy.

It was a long wait last night to hear how he has been doing. Collie HQ have been behind him virtually wishing him to pull through๐Ÿ™. We were pleased to hear he made it through the night ๐Ÿ’™ and was sat up looking around this morning. ๐Ÿ˜

It will be a slow and long road for recovery, as it was complicated and serious surgery. He will stay in the vets for several nights we're we know they will give him the utmost care and attention. He's not out of danger yet and we have to keep a very close eye on him. ๐Ÿ™

A HUGE shout out to our fabulous vets Tysul Vets especially vet Vicky who operated on him through the evening.๐Ÿ™Œ We are truly appreciative to your care for our dogs. You always go above and beyond for us.

Rachel viisited him today, and Diane will see him tomorrow and give him extra cuddles from us all.

Come on FLOUR , we are all behind you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ’ช

If you can spare a pound or two to help us pay his tests/surgery/overnight bill we would be really grateful ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ’–Siriol๐Ÿ’–
We are sharing some photos of last nights get together in celebration of Veterinary Surgeon, Siriol Butterworth's time at Tysul Vets.

You may have heard that Siriol has decided it is time to 'retire'. Of course this doesn't mean she will be putting her feet up! It does mean that she has plans to travel with her family and also to spend some time overseas volunteering as a vet in a country where her skills will be greatly needed and appreciated.

It goes without saying that her colleagues together with our clients with animals small and large that she has helped during her years at Tysul, will miss her enormously but I am sure like us you will all wish her well in this new step that sounds full of adventure.

We had a lovely evening of food, chatter, memories and stories of times past and present, and know that Siriol will always be a part of and we can't wait to hear about all her news in the future from her travels and volunteering.

Join us in wishing her luck in her retirement plans.

i Siriol pob lwc yn eich ymddeoliad ๐Ÿ’–
