The weather is extremely dangerous across West Wales

Our best advice is not to go out and keep animals indoors wherever possible.

After bad weather we always see an increase in lost pets so before letting your dog out, check your fences or keep them on lead.

Dogs Trust Emergency Fund helps contribute towards urgent veterinary treatment when dog owners can’t cover the full cost themselves.

In an emergency situation, they can provide a contribution towards vet treatment up to 25% of the outstanding bill, or £350 (whichever is the lesser amount).

He came in as a stray so we don’t know much about him but.

He’s around 5 years old and is a staffy mix

His Foster Mum says
💚 his favourite place is curled up next to her for cuddles.
💚 He loves playing with her Labrador, but he is definitely a top dog, so could only live with a submissive dog.

He would prefer a home with no small children

C’mon who doesn’t love a snuggle bug?

We’ve always got our dogs backs.

If adopters circumstances change, and they do, we will make sure they’re taken care of, in fact we insist on it.

And if you’re buying a puppy from a breeder, reputable ones will do exactly the same for you.

In the run up to Christmas, we know that puppies are often bought as gifts.

Whilst we would strongly advise against bringing a new puppy into the home at such a busy time please do your research to avoid puppy farms

Signs to look out for

❌ A “menu” of numerous dog breeds available
❌ Buying a puppy on demand with no waiting
❌ Where’s mum? Stooges are often used so be alert
❌ Offers to meet in a car park or similar

If you’re tech savvy

- google the telephone number, does it appear in numerous ads

- Do a reverse image search, has the picture of the puppy been used in lots of adverts, possibly over several months

Puppy farmed dogs often come with health issues and have not been socialised at a young age.

Don’t fuel the puppy farms this Christmas

Who’s ready for a pupdate on the Viking litter of akitas? The pups are 14 weeks old today and are all growing fast. They’ve had all their jabs and been microchipped ready for adventures in the big wide world. 🐶 Inga and Gunnar have been adopted 🥳 🐶 Fell and Kari are settling into their foster home and you can follow their adventures at Follow the Fosters with Karina and Dave 🐶 Gorm, Buri and Rollo are still with us at the rescue. The volunteers are doing an amazing job with them but we would dearly love to find them foster or forever homes. Alpets Poundies

Alpets Poundies was set up by Linda to help with the re-homing of the dogs in the Ceredigion pound. Alpets Poundies is based in Croeslan, Llandysul, and has become the refuge for many abandoned dogs over the years.

We make every effort to save each and every dog that comes into our care and have only ever had to put one dog down due to illness. Hopefully this page will help us to re-home a few more, but at the present we have re-homed over 400 dogs! We hope to keep going for a lot longer and can continue to do so with the help of the wonderful supporters of Alpets Poundies.

All animals (as we have had horses as well and a pheasant) have home checks and a donation is required to help us to continue helping more animals. They will go out neutered (if old enough), vaccinated and micro-chipped.

Anyone needing a dog re-homed is quite welcome to add it on to the page themselves, to re-hoe privately - rather than abandon it. We will re-home anywhere in the country, but please before wasting our home checkers time be sure that you are willing to cover the distance to pick up your new pet.
