✨Holly says “My personal favourite part of guinea pig ownership? The sounds!
They use a wide range of sounds, varying in pitch and pace, to communicate with each other.👂 From a high pitched squeak of excitement when they hear you open the fridge to a low rumbling sound which means they are talking amongst themselves - maybe even gossiping about you🤭🤭
✨Holly says “Pop-corning 🍿is a guinea pig’s version of zoomies! They sprint around and jump, twisting their bodies in the air and this is associated with happiness and contentment. Plus it’s so much fun to watch 😍”

Did you know that another daily role of Registered Veterinary Nurses👩🏼⚕️ is to perform minor surgery?🩸
Here is one of our nurses Jess scaling and polishing Rosies teeth.🐕
As it isn’t permissible for nurses to extract teeth, there is always a veterinary surgeon on hand supervising should any teeth need removing. 🦷🦷
Another daily role of a Veterinary Nurse are consultations.👩🏼⚕️👨⚕️
Honey recently saw Antun our vet for her first vaccination💉 and its time for her second vaccination already. (how quick time goes by!)🙈
Before any vaccination it is important that the patient receives a health check to ensure they are fit and healthy.🤒🤧
Here is kimberley giving Honey second vaccination.
As you can see Honey loved the fuss.💖💖
Under veterinary direction our Registered Veterinary Nurses routinely take blood samples💉, run the tests and then relay the results to the vet to interpret 🧑⚕️
There may be a number of reasons we advise on taking bloods🤔 such as checking for organ function, checking for infections🦠, monitoring medications, and checking for infectious diseases.
Little Buster🐶 had bloods taken as he was under-going a general anaesthetic.
We recommend pre-anaesthetic bloods if your pet is 7 years-old or older.
This was so we could check the liver and kidneys as they are the primary organs that deal with anaesthetic other than the lungs. The bloods may allow us to detect any problems before the anaesthetic.
We would not be able to detect these without taking blood.🩸🩸
Did you know Registered Veterinary Nurse's (RVN's) commonly place intravenous catheters in patients?
It is important to have intravenous access for all of our surgical patients and patients staying in hospital.🏥
There are several reasons why we may need intravenous access;
Emergency medication (CPR),
Administer intravenous medication (pain relief, antibiotics etc)
Administer intravenous fluids. 💦
Here is Jessica one of our RVN's placing an intravenous catheter in Mali❤️
Talk about a cat friendly clinic!😻😻
This handsome boy Milo was so relaxed he barely stopped kneeding.
We like to call it making biscuits or paddy pawing...what do you call it? Comment bellow 👇🏼👇🏼
(P. S You'll want your volume up for this!🥰)
Do you remember the lovely Prada?🥰
Here is Joanne one of our RVN's removing her staples after her surgery.
Post operative check-ups are another duty that Veterinary Nurses carry out frequently.⏰
