Visiting the salon today for her first ever puppy pamper. And what a girl she was. So relaxed she even fell asleep.

Whilst we were holding ashore training this evening we were alerted to concerns for people shining lights at the end of the breakwater who were believed to be trapped.

High winds were gusting up to 51mph and big waves were constantly breaking over the breakwater.

UK Coastguard were alerted and tasked Porthcawl Coastguard and Port Talbot Coastguard teams to attend. Whilst conditions were beyond those which our inshore lifeboats would launch into, our Atlantic 85 lifeboat was prepared for launch incase someone was swept off the breakwater on its leeward side.

As the coastguard teams arrived on scene, two people managed to make their way back to safety from the end of the breakwater (light in we**am image) as big waves broke over it.

The breakwater is still closed and fenced off for public access due to sea defence works, the safety gates would normally be locked in stormy conditions like those tonight.

Please and stay away from piers, breakwaters, sea walls and cliffs during stormy weather. 🌊 Big waves can easily sweep you off your feet and out to sea.

In a coastal emergency dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
