A fabulous and very hot weekend at Oswestry & High Lane Agility show over the weekend ..

Sara & Dali competing at Gd 2 for the first time gaining 3x 3rd places 1x 5th place with 2 clear round rosettes ..

Elin & Begw 1x 2nd place Rosette & 1x 3rd plus a 9th place in a very large class us against grades 1-4 well deserved.

Philippa & Oska 1x 4th place with some fabulous focus ..

Sally & Tasha 1x 8th place & 1x 9th place nice results in large classes ..

Julia & Wynnie getting more confident and working in a busy environment in anysize building up that focus .. lots of positives

Carol & Gruff .. gave his best try but the treat stall proved too much and the lady with an ice cream on a hot day was just the last straw for him ! ( she didn’t share !) but I’m glad to say he got his ice cream at the end .. Carol shared one with him.

All the dogs were very well managed over the weekend in very hot conditions , minimising how many runs they did , monitoring their environment to keep them cool .. also a huge terrifying thunderstorm on Saturday night .. I have to say we all enjoyed it and so did the dogs .
Greg watched and chilled out by the rings !

JSDT competed at Dog Days Agility show this weekend. I could not be more proud of the gang .. all worked as a team and pulled together over the weekend to support each other as it was a first Kennel Club show for some of the group.

Attention dog owners!

Do you have a furry moody teenager at home? Did they use to be the perfect puppy and now it seems like they suddenly can’t understand a thing you’re saying? Or are you just looking to strengthen your dog’s training? Then this course is made for you!

The classes start on the 23rd and 24th of February.

The course is split between:
🏠 3 indoor sessions.
🌳 3 outdoor sessions with a different location each time.

This allows you and your dog to work on real life situations with real life distractions: other dogs walking, people, wildlife, cars, etc…

The course covers:

🐶 Coming back when called
🐾 Lead walking
🐶 Paying attention on walks
🐾 Self-control
🐶 Taking commands from a distance
🐾 Confidence building & socialisation
🐶 Much more!

During these classes, we will work on bringing the dog/owner relationship to the next level, through overcoming challenges, strengthening a mutual trust, continue socialisation, introducing games to stimulate the dog, get out of the routine and have fun!

The course is 6 weeks long and costs £90. The indoor classes are held in the Community Centre of Tregarth on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30pm.
Outdoor classes will be held on Saturday at 11am (for the people taking the class on Thursdays) and on Friday at 4pm (for the people taking the class on Fridays).

These classes are designed for dogs (between 7 months and 2 years) who have attended puppy classes, or older pups who have already had basic training but need a little extra.

This is something I will keep posting as it is so important for your dogs health and sometimes overlooked by us .. overgrown nails can cause arthritis in toes/ paws .. a ripped or split toenail can cause unnecessary pain and distress to our dogs .. please look and pay attention .. a very easy way to tell if your dogs nails need clipping ..
Can you hear them tapping on a hard surface flooring .. this is often a sign they need a trim ..
research your breed to find out the best length to keep them .. a simple google search should give you the information you need .. the article below is a great reference.
Also if you can’t manage yourself .. the practice nurse at the vets or a groomer should be able to assist .

Ideal for those adolescent pups

Attention dog owners!

Have you been with us for the puppy classes? Or do you have a dog or a puppy that could use with a little more training?

Doggo Lingo is introducing Teenage Camp starting on December 8th! These classes are designed for dogs (between 7 months and 2 years of age) who have attended puppy classes, or older pups who have already had basic training but need a little extra.

During these classes, we will work on improving fundamental skills such as recall, leash training, impulse control, and attention. We will also work on bringing the dog/owner relationship to the next level, through overcoming challenges, strengthening a mutual trust, improving your dog's listening skills around other dogs or distractions, introducing games to stimulate your dog, get out of the routine and most of all: have fun!

The course is 6 weeks long and costs £90. It will be split between 3 indoor and 3 outside classes (Indoor classes will be held on Thursdays/Fridays at 7:30pm and outdoor classes will be held in different spots on Fridays at 4pm or Saturdays at 11am). It will alternate between indoor/outdoor classes every other week. This will allow you and your dog to work on real life situations, with the same distractions your dog faces on a daily basis.

Great start for your pups 🐾

Hi everyone! We are once again launching the next round of puppy classes. Who's ready to have a well behaved pup for the holidays? 🐶🎄

Classes will cover handling/grooming, basic positions (sit, down, stay, leave it, relax/settle…), coming back when called, leash walking, focus training, impulse control, confidence building, socialisation and much more.

Throughout this course you will learn how to read your dog’s body language, build a strong relationship with your dog, be a good guide for them, and most of all: have fun!

The classes will take place at Canolfan Tregarth, in Tregarth, Bangor, LL57 4AW, on Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 6:50pm, and on Saturdays from 9 to 9:50am.

The course cost is £80 for 6 weeks and is suitable for puppies aged 3 to 12 months old. There is a limit of 5 puppies per class so first come first served! The slots go quickly so if you're interested, don't wait 🐾

We raised £20 from our donations on the have a go agility from all the kind people that attended Bodnant gardens dog fest . This has been donated to Snowdonia animal rescue ..

One of my jobs this week has been to visit a 1yr old labrador pup .. yes I’ll call her a pup at 1yr old …
As I walked in the door the owner said .. “ be ready , she is very lively !”
In my head I thought .. ok I’m ready ..
As I entered the room I was immediately pounced on by one very bouncy .. ( jumping over my head ) .. mouthing … nipping … tugging my clothing … no manners ( at all )
VERY LIVELY !!!! 😵‍💫
( understatement of the year )

After 5 minutes of complete chaos and intense conversation I removed the dog from the room into her crate ..

We had a lovely conversation about the dog , it was plain to see her owners were at a loss and getting upset and on the verge of rehoming her .. walks were a nightmare .. injuries to the owner included .. after our chat .. all the basics covered .. food .. rest .. treats .. brain games ..

Then we brought the dog back in .. training commenced .. I explained , demonstrated and taught her owner some basic focus exercises … this stopped the jumping up and out of control bouncing .. nipping … and put in a few basic manners .. very easy to remember exercises..

Then we booked in to visit Zoomies for the following day, a safe enclosed dog park local to us ..

Today we met at Zoomies , I’m glad to say it was evident that the focus work had been done and we had a great starting point to teach some recall work and focus work in a very distracting environment ..
The pup had only ever had lead walks all her life so far , 3 x a day .. so there was a huge amount of pent up frustration

We attached a long line to her harness and got her focus on us then allowed her to go sniff .. she was surprisingly, quite restrained .. didn’t venture too far but absolutely loved the whole experience..

We worked on her re call and focus by playing fetch .. hide & seek .. sniff out the treats and ping pong games ..
Not only did the dog enjoy herself but the owner had fun too and was able to relax and see how clever and wonderful her dog was , after a long build up of frustration and heartache over the last year ..

I am happy to report that regular visits to Zoomies are being booked for safe off lead fun and top up visits from myself to further the training skills .. should all result in happy dog and happy owner .. all ready the owner could see a change in her dogs behaviour around the house in such a short time ..

This will continue to improve with the consistency of regular quality exercise & training combined ..
