South Wales - Everything for Dogs.

Hi, I am training Clients and dog owners how to groom their own dogs and how to communicate with their pets using touch rather than words. Dogs intuitively know how you are feeling and this energy is automatically passed onto your pet. They know if you are in a hurry, impatient or cross. I will show you how to to communicate your intentions in a more positive way through a fun grooming session and enhance your relationship. For more details, please contact me.

If you are feeding a male cat, please do not wait to have him neutered. Every second he is out there is a HUGE risk. Unneutered male cats fight. I don't care how sweet you think he is. All of them fight - it's their nature. And it's the way the most severe feline diseases are spread. You can prevent this before it happens! And, you can prevent a lot of new kittens being born outside to suffer in the harsh environment.

Don't wait for him to show up injured!
Don't wait for the weather to get warmer.
Don't wait because "he can't have kittens".
Don't wait because "you'll do it later".
Don't wait to earn his trust more.
Don't wait for him to contract deadly diseases.

Don't wait.

Feeding the Swans

It’s that time of year where natural food sources are scarce and the colder weather sets in so the swans look to people for food more than ever, especially where flocks congregate.

We have had a few calls asking us what to feed them….so thought the points below would be helpful…

🦢 Bread isn’t bad! We know it isn’t the most nutritious (the same as a McDonald’s isn’t the best for us) but it is better than nothing. Swans have been fed bread for many many years without problems and it doesn’t cause Angel Wing. Just please don’t use mouldy bread and always feed in the water!

🦢 Other options can include mixed corn/bird seed, sweetcorn, peas, floating pellets, cooked rice and porridge oats.

🦢Please ensure frozen peas/sweetcorn are defrosted before feeding.

🦢 Some food sinks so if the water is deep then consider options like bread or the floating pellets so the swans are able to get the food.

🦢 ALWAYS FEED IN THE WATER….firstly they need the water to help the food pass down their long neck but more importantly feeding out of the water leaves them vulnerable, especially to dog attacks. It may also encourage them to come out of the water in search of food and this can be dangerous if there are roads/car parks nearby.

Sadly many of the swans we are being called out to are underweight….a typical adult sized swan should weigh between 8kg - 12kg (some heavier) however we have picked up 3 cygnets just this week, all weighing around 4.5kg! Also we know Avian Flu hasn’t gone away and keeping them fed and healthy will mean they stand a better chance should the situation worsen…so anything you can spare to feed the swans this winter will make a difference.

Thank You 💙

Training tip 🐾
Addressing seperation anxiety.

I came across a lovely lady who wanted to know how she could train her dog to stay in the car while she went shopping. It’s far better to train your dogs to be happy at home while you go shopping. Things to consider are that in the summer months, cars get hot and it’s not safe to leave dogs in the car. Also dogs get stolen from cars all the time.
Lots of dogs suffer from seperation anxiety because owners subconsciously make dogs dependent on them. This might seem okay while they are puppies but later becomes difficult when you need to leave them at home. Dogs, naturally being pack animals want to be with the pack, it’s not natural for them to be alone. So being left alone for short periods of time at home is something that has to be taught to them while they are puppies. We cannot assume they will be happy being left alone if we have taken them everywhere with us while they are puppies. Teaching them to be okay alone starts as soon as you get your puppy. Begin with just a few minutes and build it up gently and over a long period of time and your puppy won’t be distressed when left for short periods of time. Many dogs born during covid suffered greatly when their owners went back to work. Causing the dogs to become
Anxious and stressed.

This is Jasper, only 11 months old and his first time with us. He behaved so well considering it was his first groom in a professional dog grooming studio. Well done Jasper. 🐾🤗
