The festivities bring plenty tasty treats, but if you're thinking of spoiling your feline friend with a slice of turkey or two, you might want to think twice!

Consult our handy list to know what to avoid - and remember, if you think your cat is suffering from poisoning, don't wait and see - head to the vet straight away.

With many of us hitting the road to visit family and friends over the festive period, remember to clean up and dispose of any antifreeze spillages before coming into contact with pets. ❄️

If you suspect your cat has come into contact with antifreeze, or shows any signs of poisoning (such as lethargy, difficulty breathing or vomiting), please contact your vet immediately. DO NOT "wait and see" - as prolonging treatment can quickly lead to kidney failure and death.

Poinsettias are very popular festive gifts, but they unfortunately contain a sap which if ingested by cats can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and extreme drooling requiring medical attention.

Christmas and New Year is just a few weeks away - which means our feline friends may start become stressed over the coming weeks due to households getting busier, decorations going up, change and an increase in visitors not to mention New Year fireworks.

We support the use of Pet Remedy , a natural plug in, designed to help reduce anxiety. For best results, start using yours now to help give your pet the best chance of minimising stress in November.

Making a shelter/hut for for community cats and local strays in the turn of the weather?

Please remember not to line shelters with material or blankets, use STRAW ONLY.

Blankets get damp from dew and rain. This means they stay damp and with freezing temperatures can cause cats to freeze and sadly die. Straw retains heat but not moisture so it's the perfect material to line a shelter with.

You may be planning to put the Christmas tree up - but if you're thinking of decorating with tinsel - you might want to think again!

Tinsel is the ultimate shiny toy to a cat - but every year, many pets are admitted to vets with intestinal blockages, resulting in expensive bills, great discomfort and worst of all, death.

Don't take the risk - and if you think your cat has ingested tinsel, head straight to the vets.

‼️ REMINDER ‼️

As temperatures drop, keep your eye out for road grit on paws. Consumption of this salty substance will result in severe illness for your cat if ingested.

Remember to check and keep paws clean! Know the signs of poisoning: drooling, vomiting, lethargy - if showing any symptoms, seek immediate veterinary attention.

It may be spooky season, but the pumpkin spiced aromas of reed diffusers and some candles can spell trouble for your four legged friend. Many essential oils found within diffusers and candles, if ingested, can result in significant distress and illness for your cat, and even aromas may cause respiratory distress and contact can cause skin irritations.

Please try to always ensure that essential oil containing products are kept well out of reach - your fur baby will thank you.
