We’d like to say a big thank you to the crew from Amber Watch at Ayr Fire Station for assisting with a tricky swan rescue on the River Ayr on 7 May.

Our inspector couldn’t safely access the river banks but the crew arrived quickly and were happy to help!

As the weather starts getting nice and more people are out walking, please remember not to feed any horses you come across. Although it may be tempting and seem harmless, your kindness can kill.

Horses can be extremely sensitive and even the smallest amount of the wrong food can have tragic consequences.

🐴 Any type of food, grass cuttings or any other plants can make horses extremely ill

🐴 Fighting between horses could break out and cause injury

🐴 Horses may mistake your fingers for food and accidentally nip

🐴 Their owners know exactly what they like and the horses may be on special diets
