UPDATE! The fallen trees have been cleared, the reserve is open, so the walk is ON! See you on Sunday.

Ho ho ho! Just a reminder about the next Greyhound Get Together and Walk at Eskrigg Reserve just outside Lockerbie next Sunday 29 December, ready to set off at 1030. There's enough parking for about 16 cars on the small reserve car park which can be accessed from Vallance Drive. Take the first right down a narrow slightly rutted track.

The walk is about 2 miles on well maintained tracks through forestry and some open areas. It might be chilly, so appropriate apparel - human and doggy - required. See you all then!

DCGR has some wonderful supporters one of whom is Beth from Stewartry Pet Supplies in Castle Douglas and her husband the owner of Stewartry Rollershutters & Garage Doors who donated loads of bags of Greyhound Time dog food for our Homeless Hounds.
Beth is opening another branch of her Pet Shop in Lockerbie so keep watching this space.
DCGR has met Beth on numerous occasions and she is certainly a greyhound convert and always comes over to say hello.
On behalf of DCGR, we would like to thank Beth and her husband for being so generous.

Regulars may remember the post on 1st November where Jennifer Borthwick proprietor of The Main Bath House in Ayrshire, pledged all takings from bathings in her dog parlour on 10th December would be donated to DCGR.
We have just heard from Jennifer and she will be transferring a magnificent £155 into DCGR'S bank account.
Jennifer, on behalf of everyone in our charity, a massive thank you for your support.

As last year, Ann and Alex McGregor from Southerness on the Solway Coast have set up a lovely Christmas Light display in their garden and asking visitors to donate to DCGR. Graham and Margaret Hill popped down to Southerness and took this video but they apologise for the quality of the the pictures as it is really quite dark down there!
The donation bucket is situated in the Paul Jones pub (only open at the weekend) which is literally a few yards away from the McGregor's garden so if in the area, why not pop down and see them. Very near to the Southerness Lighthouse.
Big thanks to the McGregor's for thinking of us.

Dalbeattie Greyhound Week.
As regular readers will know, DCGR have homed over 12 greyhounds in The Dalbeattie area over the last few years and to recognise this fact, we self proclaimed last week as Dalbeattie Greyhound Week.
Fundraising events attended were the Dalbeattie High School Christmas Market, Dalbeattie Makers Market and for 4 days, the Jas P Wilson Community Pop Up Shop.
Briefly, DCGR raised a phenomenal £1,524 from the 3 events with the Makers Market and Coffee Morning (despite Storm Darragh) raising £438 and the 4 day Pop Up Shop raising a phenomenal £1,031.
Thanks are due to firstly to Clare and Rob organisers of the Makers Market for supporting us over the years and for donating the table fees from today's event. You are 2 really wonderful people.
Secondly to Michelle the co-ordinator of this most valuable community asset - the Jas P Wilson Pop Up Shop.
Then in no particular order volunteers, Graham and Margaret, Robert and Julia, Dorothy, Jill, Catherine, Richard, Carol-Ann, Stuart and Tony along with greys Rhys, Honey, Lexie, Cloe, Crissy, Leon and Carlos for showing the public what excellent pets and companions they are.
Pictures show a flavour of what we were up to during the week.
Hot Chocolate was to die for!
