Team Pet People hit the London Vet Show! 🐾💼

Both of our directors, Ian and Francesca, shared their expertise on panel discussions, while our incredible nurse Sarah delivered a brilliant talk about feeding the cancer patient. 🩺🗣️ Seeing them share their knowledge and passion was truly inspiring!

We also took the chance to explore the latest innovations and picked up some exciting new equipment for the clinic 🏥✨

Now we’re back home, absolutely knackered from all the walking and learning – but it was so worth it. 💪🐕

🐾👁️ Meet John Burgess, BVSc DipECVO MRCVS, our dedicated Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology, working closely with our Pet People Pro service to provide expert eye care for our furry friends!

Originally from Zimbabwe, John earned his Bachelor of Veterinary Science in South Africa at the University of Pretoria. After relocating to the UK, he expanded his skills through intensive training—including an internship in Manchester and a three-year residency in Veterinary Ophthalmology. In 2024, he officially became a European Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology!

Beyond his impressive credentials, John is known for his gentle approach and genuine care for each pet he treats. When he’s not in the clinic, John’s usually out enjoying his hobbies and staying active!

Let’s give a warm welcome to John and the passion he brings to our team. Together, we’re here to help every pet see the world more clearly. 🐾💙👀

🐾 Meet Our Superstar Toffee! 🐾

This gorgeous 14-year-old Welsh Corgi came to Pet People Vets after struggling with a painful spinal issue that left her unable to walk.

After diagnosing an intervertebral disc extrusion at L1-L2 from our high tech CT scan. Our team, alongside the talented neurologist Dr. John Parker from , performed a hemilaminectomy to get her back on her feet. 💪🐶

We’re thrilled to see her on the mend— and she’s back to enjoying her walks! Swipe through to see Toffee’s journey from her CT scan to those heartwarming post-op strolls. 🌟🐾

This beautiful boy came in to see us today as something was making him sneeze repeatedly. After a short sedation and a camera up his nose, Dr Annabelle was able to remove a grass seed that had comfortably lodged itself deep in Huxley’s nose!

We wish Huxley a speedy recovery and hope he will be much more comfortable now 🌾

Here’s a quick checklist to ensure a smooth journey!

Travel Requirements:

✅ Microchip
✅ Rabies vaccination (21+ days before travel)
✅ Animal Health Certificate (AHC) within 10 days of travel (£160 per animal + £50 for each additional animal on the same certificate)*
✅ Tapeworm treatment (if needed for EU/NI)

💡 Note: UK pet passports are no longer valid for travel into the EU. Unless your pet has a valid passport issued in a current EU member state, they will need an Animal Health Certificate to travel from the UK to the EU.

👉 FRANCESCA: This is Francesca, one of our dedicated team members. She’s a busy mum of two and practice owner, now getting back into running to support this incredible cause.

👉 ELLIE: This is Ellie, a student nurse who is hopefully qualifying soon. She'll be running her first marathon in Paris this April. 🏃‍♀️

👉 ANNIE: This is Annie! She is one of our vets, and her favorite marathon is the Edinburgh Marathon, where she achieved an amazing time of 3:26! 🏅
