🎉 Welcome Otto to the Happiness Unleashed family! 🐾

Otto came to me with a few challenges, especially with leash manners and thresholds. His excitement often led to lots of pulling and spinning, making walks a handful! But after putting in the work, he’s made amazing progress. Now, he walks nicely on a loose lead with his pack. ✨

And getting out of the car? He’s learned to wait patiently for permission rather than rushing ahead. I am so proud of his transformation and can’t wait to see him continue to grow!

Let’s give Otto some love! 🐕💙

Introducing Dakota ❤️🐾

She’s been with me just over three weeks, and it’s already been a journey of learning and growth for us both. Her arrival in the UK was stressful, and going through the fear stage at the same time made it even tougher. I learned the hard way that I was pushing her into overwhelming situations too quickly, rather than taking things at her pace.

Yes, we make mistakes along the way, but it’s all part of the process—as long as we learn and grow from them. Now, we’re finding our rhythm and tackling each new challenge with patience and compassion. Can’t wait to see where this journey takes us as we build trust, resilience, and skills together.

🐾 Impulse Control 🐾 During our structured walks, we dedicate ample time to practicing impulse control. This crucial skill ensures that dogs remain calm and composed, even in stimulating environments. One of the practices we emphasize is refraining from allowing two dogs to chase after a ball simultaneously. This precaution minimizes the risk of unnecessary clashes and promotes a safer walking experience for all involved. Instead, we focus on building a solid foundation of impulse control through exercises such as ‘down stay’ with distractions. By gradually increasing the duration, we help our dogs develop the ability to resist impulses and maintain focus. We use this command when we come across horse riders, golfers or simply while waiting for other dog walkers to pass by. Ultimately, mastering impulse control not only leads to better behavior but also strengthens the bond between dogs and their owners. Through consistent training and positive reinforcement, we can help our dogs develop the impulse control they need to thrive in any situation.
