Howard Moon has been in our care for more than 125 days, still dreaming of the loving forever home he longs for. 💔

Howard came to us as a stray, anxious, unwell and covered in fleas. After a thorough health check along with vaccinations, worming and neutering, Howard made his way to a peaceful foster home where he could start his journey of discovering life as a beloved pet.

In this home environment, Howard's calm and gentle personality began to blossom as he relaxed and became more trusting.

Although diagnosed with stage-one kidney disease, Howard doesn't require any medication for this, nor does it impact his current quality of life. His only wish is for a family who will cherish him exactly as he is.

Howard is searching for a pet-free home where he can build slow and meaningful relationships with his people. He'd thrive in a peaceful environment that allows him to settle in at his own pace, grow in confidence, and learn the warmth of unconditional love.

Could you be the one to love Howard to the moon and back?

Bonded rabbits Kirstie and Phil were abandoned in a layby. 💔

These one-year-old rabbits, likely siblings, were fortunately spotted and taken to a private vet before arriving in our care.

For Kirstie and Phil, it was truly a case of location, location, location — being found when they did meant we could provide the right care.

Unfortunately, the number of rabbits being abandoned across the country is increasing. Many people underestimate the costs and complexities involved in caring for these pets.

Despite everything they have been through, Kirstie and Phil were adopted together after just 36 days in our care. 💙

Behind every wagging tail is a volunteer who makes all the difference 🐾

Blue Cross UK rely on their amazing volunteers to give pets a safe place to stay and the care they need whilst they wait for a new home.

That’s why we’re so pleased that Blue Cross UK are one of the charities who have signed up to GoVo, the digital volunteering platform! It will help connect them with even more volunteers and showcase the wide range of roles they have to offer.

Another fantastic charity uploading opportunities ready for when the platform launches this autumn!

Teasel is a gentle soul looking for a calm and loving home where she can feel safe and settled. 💙

Her ideal home would offer plenty of outdoor space to wander, though she’s equally fond of relaxing in the sunshine or napping on a comfy bed.

Though a little shy at first, with patience (and a few tasty treats!) she soon comes out of her shell and shows her affectionate side. In the evenings, she loves nothing more than a cosy head rub and will happily chat away to her humans throughout the day.

Teasel would prefer to be the only pet in her new home, as she finds other animals overwhelming. She would truly thrive as the centre of someone’s world.

Could Teasel be the best friend you've been looking for?

Trigger warning: abuse.

Blanche was bundled up in bubble wrap and left in a bin, with string tied around her mouth to muffle her cries. 💔

Thankfully, someone heard her in distress and brought her to the safety of our Victoria animal hospital. Without them, it’s unlikely that Blanche would have survived.

Our vets found her to have early-stage gum disease, but luckily, she was otherwise healthy.

After some initial stress, Blanche showed her friendly side and went into foster care with volunteer Wendy, where she recovered in a cosy cat chalet.

After 49 days in Blue Cross care, Blanche found the loving home she deserved and is now known as Tooly.

After all the sadness, pain and suffering she endured, we’re thrilled to see Tooly so happy and loved in her new home. 😊

‼️PARVOVIRUS‼️

🏥We are seeing more cases again of parvovirus.

😔Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious disease that can be fatal to dogs.

🐕Puppies aged six weeks to six months are at risk.

🧫Parvo attacks a dog’s cells in their intestine, meaning they become dehydrated and weak.

💉There is no cure, but vaccinating a dog or puppy against parvo will protect them.

Little Firefly was around 10 days old when he came into Blue Cross care with his mum, Ladybug, and three siblings.

We're pleased to say that Firefly has found a loving home, and his new family were keen to say a big thank you to Ladybug too, with a handwritten note and crochet toy.

The note reads: "Dear Ladybug. I promise to look after and love Firefly just like you did. Thank you for letting us have him!"

💙 Meet Atlas 💙

🏥This intrepid explorer found himself all alone in someones garden, luckily his little meows were heard and he was brought into us.

🧶This little daredevil loves to climb, explore and get up to mischief.

🩺He has received a health check, flea / worm prevention, vaccinations, microchip and will be neutered this week before he heads off to his new home.💉

🏡We wish our little explorer Atlas all the best and hope he has many more adventures to come!

102 days. That’s how long Cookie has been dreaming of a safe, quiet home to call his own. 💔

Cookie has found adjusting to life in our care a little overwhelming, but with patience, kindness, and gentle encouragement, he has already begun to enjoy some fuss and is showing us his sweet nature.

Cookie is searching for a calm, adult-only home with a patient family who can give him the time and space to settle in at his own pace.

He'd love to be the only pet in the home so he can relax and feel safe. Once comfortable, he’ll also appreciate access to outdoor space to roam around and enjoy some sunshine.

Cookie has so much potential to blossom into a wonderfully loyal and affectionate companion. He isn’t asking for much, just a patient heart and a safe place to call home.

Could you be the one to give Cookie the forever home he deserves?

Good news incoming! We're ending the week with five stories to put a smile on your face. 👇

1. After 500 days in our care, Pumpkin the horse was adopted - and was bridesmaid at her owner's wedding. 👰

2. Bunnie was finally adopted by a member of our team who cared for her. She was considered one of the most affectionate cats. We think she became so attached to humans because she was taken from her mum too soon. 🐈

3. April was left on an allotment in a terrible state. But thanks to our team dedicating a lot of time building her trust, she's now been adopted. She even has a new best friend called Star. 🌟

4. Gareth the horse was adopted by the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) providing riding therapy and lessons for children and adults with disabilities. 🐴

5. Betsy, who gave birth to kittens, and saved the life of another kitten in need of milk, is now in a loving home of her own after more than 100 days in our care. 😻

Which of these stories made you smile the most? 💙

163 days and counting, that's how long Fairfax and Favour have been waiting for their forever home. 💔

Fairfax and Favour are young, bright, sensitive mares. Both are naturally curious, have shown incredible progress with gentle, consistent handling, and absolutely love a good scratch!

Fairfax is inquisitive and calm, often approaching at her own pace to see what's happening. She's learning the basics like being caught and having her feet picked up, and she's coping well with part-time stabling. With quiet routines, she's beginning to enjoy human interaction more and more.

Favour is a sweet-natured mare who is starting to come out of her shell and enjoy attention. She leads nicely with a friend, is learning to enjoy grooming, and grows in confidence daily.

Both girls have huge potential and would suit experienced homes where their education can continue gently at their own pace. They could be rehomed together as a pair of youngsters to grow and learn until backing age, or separately to loving families who can help them blossom.

If you can offer Fairfax or Favour the patient, understanding home they deserve, please get in touch!

Terrified, with rotten teeth and with her fur matted with urine, poor Callie was in shocking condition when the dog warden brought her into our care. 💔

Fortunately, Caroline, one of our Adoptions Coordinators, stepped in to foster Callie.

In her cosy home, Caroline noticed Callie's nerves calming and began to wonder if she could make space in her heart for this lovely dog.

After losing two dogs, she was hesitant to go through that heartbreak again, but she felt an instant bond with Callie.

After undergoing three rounds of surgery, Callie was adopted by Caroline and they couldn't be happier. 🩵

🖤Meet Nibs🖤

🚮This Little guy was found crying in a bin🙁

🥰He was very happy to see his rescuer!

🩺He is only 8/9 weeks old and apart from being a bit skinny and a heavy flea infestation ( which we have treated) he is in good health.

☺️Nibs is an entertaining, playful and loving boy and we wish him well, he will soon be off to one of our rehoming centres to look for a place to call home.

🐶🐾 INTERNATIONAL DOG DAY 🐶🐾

What better way to celebrate than by sharing why adopting a rescue is such a wonderful choice? 🐾

1. Adopting a rescue literally gives them a second chance.

2. Adoption fees tend to be much lower then buying from a breeder.

3. You can choose your perfect match. Rescue centres have a variety of dogs for different types of people.

4. You're helping reduce animal overpopulation.

5. Rescue dogs are just as loyal and affectionate as any other dog and deserve to feel the same love.

💙 Meet Noodles 💙

🏥Noodles was found as a stray and taken to a private vets, sadly he was suffering from extensive burns, we don’t know how he got these but when we were asked if we could help we said yes.

❤️‍🩹The private vets had already started his care for the burns and we continued this.

🫣We won’t show his burns as we appreciate this can be upsetting but Noodles is doing really well.

🥺He was very worried by people when he first arrived but each day he is growing in confidence.

👋Soon he will leave us and start his journey to look for a place to call home.

🐱He is only approx 12 weeks old.

🙏🏻Noodles is just one of many stray animals we see and we are grateful for everyone’s support as there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes and we try to share some of that so you can see
Where your support goes, to little kittens like Noodles.

🥹He will be sorely missed once he leaves us but it has been lovely to see his little Personality develop a little more each day.
