🏥This little duo were left outside our hospital.

💷Whilst we are glad they were left somewhere safe, it highlights the cost of living crisis people are experiencing.

😔We have seen a big increase in cats being left outside our London hospitals.

📲Whilst we understand things can be difficult and the waiting lists for spaces at rescues organisations is long , we would encourage anyone struggling to make contact for advice and support.💻

🐱This little duo who we think are sisters have understandably been nervous and wary but in time we know they will feel safe once more.

🚐They have now left us to go to one of our rehoming centres and once ready they will be looking for a place to call home.🏡

Nine terrified kittens and their mum were left along with a heart-breaking note begging for Blue Cross to help. 💔

Our veterinary team provided essential care, and our rehoming team created a safe space after their ordeal, leading to their quick adoption.

Sadly stories like this occur all too frequently. We are witnessing an unprecedented rise in the number of homeless pets arriving in our care, largely due to owners being unable to afford their care.

This is why we rely on donations to ensure we can help pets like Dahlia and her babies.

By donating, you will help us be there for as many homeless pets as we can.

✨Meet Bay, Puddle, Marsh, Spring, Ocean and River.

😥A story with a sad start but a happy ending.

💔Mum and kittens were found huddled in a corner of an industrial waste bin at a recreation centre, sadly the lid was down so we can only assume she was put into the bin.

❤️‍🩹The finder set into action to get mum and her kittens to safety, sadly it became apparent that one of the kittens was already deceased.

🏥Mum and 5 kittens arrived at the hospital, mum was understandably very stressed so we put her with her kittens into a quiet kennel to decompress.

🐱A few hours after she arrived and with a full belly , mum was settled and caring for her kittens.

😔It’s so sad to think what could had have happened had Bay, Puddle, Marsh, Spring, Ocean and River not been spotted.

📹We put together a little video to share with you and we think you will agree they are an adorable little family.

🚐This beautiful little family will soon be leaving us to go to one of our rehoming centres where once the kittens are weaned they will all be looking for new homes

This adorable staffy, Creed, has been with us for 63 days and is beginning to lose hope of finding his forever family. 💔

Creed is a lovable 6-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a big heart! This energetic boy is always ready for fun and loves a good game of tug. He'd thrive in an active home with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. With consistency and ongoing training, he will continue to flourish.

🐱Meet Reggie🐱

😥He was in a sorry state when he arrived, he was suffering from awful diarrhoea. His back end was very sore and ulcerated because of this, he also had fleas, ticks and had ulcers in his mouth.

🩺Treatment was started to make him feel more comfortable and an ultrasound scan was performed which found an intestinal intussusception (where the intestine folds into itself). He had life saving surgery to correct this and recovered well from the procedure.

🙌Within 2 days of surgery his diarrhoea had resolved.

🥰Throughout out all of his treatment Reggie was a star patient. He just loved attention and cuddles which the team were more than happy to supply.

🚐Reggie has now left us to go to one of our rehoming centres to look for a loving home.

Facing the challenge of caring for an unplanned litter of puppies, their owner was also confronted with the threat of homelessness, with the possibility of living in their car with all seven dogs. 💔

In this difficult situation, the owner made the brave decision to seek our help.

The team implemented rotas, feeding schedules, and a socialisation plan to ensure the litter received the best possible start. Which also allowed their mother to have much-needed rest away from her pups.

As the puppies settled in, their personalities began to shine through, and it wasn’t long before they were all adopted just in time for ! 🎉

🐱Meet Molly🐱

🚙This little lady has used up a few on her 9 lives! She came to us from another vets, Initially she was taken into them as she was seen being hit by a car.

🩻Molly had X-rays which showed she had sustained a broken front leg, a broken back leg and a split hard palate (the roof of her mouth)

💊Understandably Molly was in shock, discomfort and needed urgent surgery, we kept her comfortable overnight on strong painkillers, rest and TLC💉

🩺Luckily we have some amazingly talented vets and the next day Molly had both of her broken legs fixed ( as you can see from the attached pictures)

🏥The day after her surgery Molly was already brighter and more mobile trying to walk around a little and use her tray.

🏡Molly is now in a foster home as she has many weeks of cage rest ahead of her but this youngster is doing well and we hope she has learnt her green cross code now! 🚥🚦🚥

🤗We will be with Molly every step
Of the way whilst she recovers, for now the prescription is rest ans TLC until we take X-rays in 6 weeks times to see how everything is healing.

❤️💖💜💛

This gentle giant might be a little shy initially, but once he warms up, he's the most loyal, sweet, affectionate boy.

His previous owners can no longer care for him so Tyson is looking for an experienced home that understands guardian breeds and can provide the mental and physical stimulation he thrives on. With plenty of love, patience, and playtime, he'll be the perfect addition to an active family.

Could you be the one to give Tyson the big love he deserves and make his dreams come true? 🏡

Cloud was discovered by a member of the public, abandoned along with four other cats in a single carrier bag in an alleyway. 💔

Fortunately, they were taken to one of our animal hospitals, where our expert team provided the necessary care.

Unfortunately, Cloud was not in the best health. She was suffering from calicivirus, a feline illness that can cause mild to severe respiratory infections and oral disease, which led to her having a painful, ulcerated tongue.

After receiving plenty of pain relief and antibiotics, Cloud made a full recovery, while the other cats also received the care and attention they needed.

We're happy to share that all of the cats, including Cloud, have successfully found forever homes after their ordeal. 💙

🌟Meet Blanche🌟

🚮Blanche was sadly found crying and in distress after she had been wrapped in bubble wrap and string and put in a bin.😔

🏥Luckily someone heard her cries and rescued her from the bin and brought her into us.

🐱Initially she was very wary and scared which is understandable but soon settled in and started to trust us.

🧶Blanche loves to chat to anyone who will listen, loves to play and is a very entertaining cat to watch!

🩺Blanche has been neutered, chipped, vaccinated and had flea / worming prevention, she also had a dental as she had a few broken teeth.💉

💻We understand that times are tough but there are lots of organisations that can offer advice and support.

🏡Luckily Blanche was found in time and once she is ready she will be looking for a place to call her own.

Percy and his tiny enclosure were put up for sale online for £20. 💔

Luckily, he was spotted by someone who had previously adopted a hamster from Blue Cross. This kind individual decided to rescue Percy from his cramped living conditions and bring him into our care.

After receiving veterinary treatment, our rehoming teams worked hard to find Percy the perfect new home. And he found just that!

Percy is now living in a spacious enclosure that features lots of hiding places and foraging opportunities. His new owner has even spoiled him with a playpen, offering a change of scenery in the evenings when hamsters are most active

If you’re thinking about bringing a hamster into your home, we highly recommend following our advice to ensure you find the perfect-sized enclosure! 👉 https://bit.ly/47Bb9wV

⭐️⭐️GRASS SEEDS⭐️⭐️

🐶🐾If you're out walking with your four-legged friend then beware of grass seeds.

🐕‍🦺🐩They're rife this time of year and, although tiny, they can cause a huge number of problems - and lots of pain - for dogs.

👀👂👃🏼They can get stuck in ears, noses, eyes, in between paws and can even pierce through the skin.

🦮🐕We've treated lots of dogs here at Blue Cross for problems related to grass seeds over the summer.

At just six months old, Bear was trying to survive on the streets while in unbearable pain. 💔

X-rays revealed a badly fractured right hind leg – so badly damaged that the only option was to amputate.

But it wasn't over for Bear, while resting, our Victoria team noticed that Bear’s other leg was also unstable. Unfortunately, further X-rays revealed that he had a dislocated kneecap.

On the day the stitches from his amputation were removed, poor Bear had to endure another operation on his other leg.

With the care and love from our veterinary, rehoming, and foster teams, Bear has gone from strength to strength, is no longer in pain, and is now in a loving new home. 💙

2024 saw a 9% increase in cat admissions, and we envision a greater surge in homeless pets, like Bear, needing our care this year.

Please help us continue to provide life-saving vet care for homeless pets by donating to our cause.

💕Meet Shadow 💕

🩻Shadow was brought into us as a stray, she was in a lot of pain and had a broken femur.

🩺The vets had hoped to repair the fracture but we discovered that it was very infected and Had to amputate instead, Shadow was on pain relief and antibiotics but also had some post operative infection at the amputation site.💊

🏥This meant Shadow had a longer stay at the hospital so that we could clean the wound daily and continue her antibiotics.

💖Shadow is now doing great and the infection has gone.

🚐She was a super sweet girl even when having her wounds cleaned, we are pleased this little lady is well enough to leave the hospital and go to one of a rehoming centres to find a place to call home.

📹Check out this little video we made of Shadows stay with us.

Found alone in a garage at just three weeks old, Pirate was injured and separated from her mother. 💔

She was suffering from a ruptured eye and desperately needed love and medical attention.

Our expert team worked tirelessly, but unfortunately, brave Pirate’s eye could not be saved.

A crucial operation was required, which posed a risk due to her small size. However, Pirate was a fighter, and the operation was successful!

After 40 days of rest and recovery, her dreams finally came true, and she found a loving new home.

While struggling to survive on the streets as strays, all Coco and KitKat had was each other. 💙

Due to KitKat's shyness, Coco confidently looked out for her friend while they were on the street, a practice that continued when they came into our care.

Even while suffering from skin conditions, they cuddled together for comfort while undergoing treatment.

Their bond was unbreakable, and after 122 days in our care, our favourite pair found a home together.💕

🧐Did you know that neutering your cat could save their life?

🐱Particularly in female cats, being spayed can greatly reduce their risk of breast cancer and prevent an infection in the womb know as pyometra, and in males it can stop their urge to roam and fight which could lead to accidents and infections.

🩺World Spay Day is coming up, and in conjunction with CatKind, we’re hosting a neutering event at our Victoria Hospital.

ℹ️To find out more, call our Victoria hospital and get your slot booked in.

The impact of our care. Trigger warning! 😢

Abandoned in a park, terrified, and with their ribs and spines protruding, it was clear these three pups had suffered neglect. 💔

Thought to be around six months old, Ross, Joey, and Chandler were undernourished and covered in filth.

Shut down and scared of everything, including the wind, we could only imagine what their past must have been like.

Our team in Bromsgrove worked tirelessly to help rebuild their physical strength and to start their training and socialization from scratch.

As their confidence grew each day, the pups eventually regained their health and found loving new homes.

📢Greyhound racing is officially ending in Wales!

Thanks to the incredible support from animal lovers like you, today marks a historic victory —the Welsh Government has announced it will end greyhound racing in Wales. This decision will save countless dogs from harm and is a major step forward for animal welfare. 🐾

We now urge the rest of the UK to follow the Welsh Government’s lead and end greyhound racing nationwide for good.

Meet our unluckiest resident, Jeremy. 💔 Despite Jeremy's heartbreaking past, Jeremy still hasn't found their perfect match.

We believe that his need for personal space and not being comfortable with being touched might be putting people off.

This , please help Jeremy find the love they deserve! 👉 https://bit.ly/42iwa0q

Alone and completely matted, Jeremy barely had any human interaction for nine years. Living in a breeding facility in a concrete kennel with no windows, he was terrified. 💔

Our foster carer, behaviour, and rehoming teams have worked incredibly hard with Jeremy to help him rebuild his trust in people.

Due to his lack of experience with interaction, Jeremy does not like being touched. He is seeking a patient owner who understands his needs and respects his space and boundaries to help him progress.

Could you provide Jeremy with the loving home he deserves? https://bit.ly/42iwa0q

We're celebrating by highlighting our new favourite duo, Pepper and Worcester, who have finally found a home together after losing their beloved owners to illness. 💕

Terminal illness meant their elderly owners could no longer look after the veteran duo, and so turned to Blue Cross for help.

Keeping Pepper and Worcester together was essential due to their strong bond, and it wasn't long before they found a loving home on a beautiful farm. 💙

Everyone at Blue Cross is incredibly grateful for the donation left by Pepper and Worcester's owners, which will help us continue supporting pets and people like them.

Spotted crying and starving on an estate, his finder made the right decision bringing Benedict into our care. 💔

He quickly earned a reputation as a chatterbox with had an unusual head tilt, but upon investigation, we realised that he was trying to tell us that he had an inner ear infection.

Our team provided the necessary treatment, but the infection left him with a permanent head tilt.

After monitoring his mobility and continuing his treatment, he was finally ready for what he had always dreamed of, a home.

And he found just that! 💙

🐱Handsome Hobs🐱

🎄Hobs was a stray we took in just before Christmas.

🥰He was very grateful to be in the warm and no more wondering where the next meal was coming from.

💤Once he knew he was safe he had a long cat nap.

🩺His health check was all fine except for some superficial scratches and scabs, most likely from cat fights.

💉We got him neutered, chipped, vaccinated and gave flea / worm prevention.

🚐He soon headed off to one of our rehoming centres and handsome Hobs did not wait long before someone fell in love and offered him a home.

🥳We were delighted to hear Hobs found a home.

Tiny was found abandoned in the waiting room, in an extremely bad state. 💔 With a ruptured eye that was out of its socket, we can only imagine the pain this poor girl endured.

Our team at our Victoria animal hospital worked tirelessly to help her. Unfortunately, her injury had been left untreated for too long, and her eye had to be removed.

Fortunately, Tiny recovered remarkably well. In gratitude, she showered our staff with love and cuddles.

This sweet girl went through so much, but the outcome was worthwhile as she is is now in the loving arms of her new owner.💙
