There is a whole selection of Breeds with lots of uses and you should definitely keep those uses in mind when picking, training or interacting with those dogs. Now breed specifications are not a one trick fits all, as each dog is an individual however it is good starting point. Generally breed traits are fairly established and outliers/unicorns are unusual. Mixed breeds or Mutts/Mongrels if bought as a puppy can be a bit of a lottery as to which side of their parental line will become more prevalent but you will definitely find out.

The word Positive has many connotations and in this context may not seem what you presume it is. Think of it as the Add/Plus sign in maths, you are adding something into the equation, there is a long list of things you can add in and whether the dog sees it as a punishment or reinforcement does depend on the situation and of course the dog.

Got to love working with puppy's, they are such a joy and it's wonderful watching them grow up and helping new dog owners through the whole process.
The plan with Vinny is to make sure he grows up to be a confident well rounded pet dog who will love to go on off lead adventures as well as to the pub and cuddle up on the sofa.

Playing with your dog is an incredible tool especially if food is not a huge motivator. You can use it as a way to socialise your puppy or to help you get through reactivity.
I personally love playing tug as it is an especially interactive game, where you are truly developing and building on your relationship with the dog. As an example with Fetch you are not as connected to the dog however if you are developing obedience its a fantastic game.

Socialisation, an integral part of your dogs skill set when it comes to interacting with Humans & Dogs.
Correct exposure during a Puppy's socialisation period will do wonders for setting them up for life.
However it is never too late to work on your adult dogs neutrality towards other dogs, as well as play skills.
