Beautiful Eclipse [pictured] was surrendered yesterday, he will be the last rescue I take in. Just like other rescued buns, Eclipse will struggle for months, possibly years, to find a suitable home during this welfare crisis. 💔
But he will always have a loving home with me, should all else fall through.

For what feels like an eternity, adoptions have been painfully slow, foster requests non-existent and donations/sponsors have grinded to a complete halt.

As a rescuer, being over-exposed to people who feel justified in using animals as breeding machines, then disposing of them when the novelty or profit wears off, takes it's toll both spiritually and mentally. These rabbits often came here with health/behaviour concerns following the abuse and neglect they experienced.. and with the cost of living crisis, trying to maintain rescue work as one person is financially impossible long-term.

Please reach out to animal rescues even if it's just to send a message of appreciation for all the work they do. Especially the small, private rescues as they are frequently overlooked and on the brink of collapse. 💔

As we run up to Easter, our message is clear: Rabbits are living, breathing animals, not seasonal gifts or children’s pets.

We cannot have any more rabbits abandoned at rescue centres after the holiday is over because a ‘whimsical’ Easter gift has become too costly or a burden.

We are already in a rabbit rescue crisis and Easter is a growing concern for so many rescues.

Please do not give into the hype and marketing around ‘Easter Bunnies’.

Rabbits are a 10-year commitment, not just for Easter.

This trio of two females & one male were born in rescue 12 weeks ago. Their parents came to us having been found dumped at the side of a road 😞. Thankfully mum & dad are fully recovered with homes lined up, which leaves their adorable kits searching for loving homes of their own. Vaccinations pending [on a waiting list with our vet].

Inaya & Manji are two bonded girls searching for their new home together, both vaccinated & spayed.

Inaya [3-4 years old] English Spot.
Inaya was intended to be a temporary foster, until her original owner never returned to the UK. Inaya is quite shy but loves to roam and explore. She requires plenty of toys & enrichment to keep her from getting bored as, like most rabbits, she loves to chew!

Manji [5-6 years old] French Lop.
Manji was surrendered after the children lost interest, which resulted in her family no longer wanting her. Manji has a beautiful temperament and loves to interact with her humans. She will quickly form a bond with her caretaker(s),
following them around for strokes. 💕

Both girls will benefit from a quiet indoor home with plenty of space & enrichment to exercise and roam daily.

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐞..✨
Mae was surrendered a few months ago having been bred back-to-back despite only being a baby herself. It’s unclear how many litters she had, but we know her previous housing situation inflicted a lot of stress on her.

Mae is now well adjusted to indoor living, she is approximately 1 year old, has been vaccinated/spayed, and is ready to set off to her new home.

Mae requires a quiet home with an experienced human, since she can be defensive/territorial about her personal space. While Mae has never bitten anyone, she has previously charged at objects or people invading her enclosure, but settles down when she ventures away from her ‘sleeping space’. It is possible this behaviour will fade with time, since she was only spayed 6 weeks ago. However, her new humans must be willing to accommodate her if the behaviour continues, as this beautiful girl really deserves to find her forever home..
As rabbits are happiest with a companion of their own species, we believe Mae would be a suitable candidate to bond with a submissive rabbit around her age.

As humans, we cannot give our pet rabbits one of their most basic needs and that’s companionship of their own kind. No matter how hard we try, we are not with them 24/7 like another rabbit is. Rabbits living on their own can suffer from stress, loneliness and become depressed which is detrimental to their health and wellbeing.

There really is nothing like seeing a pair/group of rabbits living happily together 🤍

Cali is without a doubt the most terrified rabbit I have ever worked with. For weeks, carefully approaching her was not even an option. She would spook so frantically and slam herself into the sides of her enclosure, risking serious injury to herself. Even with shelter and silence, she would panic unpredictably.

My priority was no longer to have her comfortable with people, but simply to be comfortable with living. She was so exhausted, so shut down, so sick with stress. This was no quality of life for her - and it is clear Cali never knew how to live comfortably.

After weeks of gentle consistency, Cali is now making significant progress, and all thanks to my little assistant, Atreus.
Initially she was frozen still and refused to hop out of her hide, but each day she developed a little more confidence to venture out and explore her surroundings with the scent of Atreus around.

While Cali is still hyper-vigilant, she settled enough to groom herself and eat alongside Atreus, in a large open space. This is amazing progress for her, and the importance of companionship ♡︎

Disclaimer: Both rabbits are NOT housed together due to Atreus being too young to neuter, therefore introductions were very closely supervised and for no longer than 10 minutes per day. Atreus will be booked in for his neuter to ensure they are bonded properly ASAP.

A pair or warren of rabbits will provide more stability and security, as well as encourage natural behaviours vital to a rabbit’s emotional and physical well-being, such as prolonged grazing, social grooming and more exercise.

We are now able to offer professional bonding with one of our qualified and trustworthy fosters, she has assisted our resident rabbits perfectly, and believes in a gentle, stress-free method of bonding.

Pretty little Aura is one of my own ♡︎ she is always well prepared for these freezing temperatures. ❄️

Unfortunately I suspect Aura may be developing blindness in one eye, she is booked in to see the vet ASAP - I’m hoping this is nothing serious and can be treated promptly. Atreus will be joining her to have his vaccines the same day.

I also want to thank everyone so far who has donated towards the care and vet bills of our rescued rabbits. Your support is massively appreciated and allows us to continue taking care of pets in need. 🙏🏼

This page will be quiet for a while as I’m working long hours trying to afford vet bills, and using my remaining time to either rehabilitate new arrivals or bond our other rabbits into pairs & trios.

This rescue is predominantly self-funded but due to the current rabbit welfare crisis and rising living costs, this is not sustainable 😔 please if you can donate, no matter how small, we desperately need help with the mounting vet bills.

The rescue is struggling massively for space and funds, but when I hear of a large rabbit living in a tiny bird cage, caked in faeces, with no room to clean herself or turn around.. I don’t know how I’m supposed to say no. 😞

This new little lady, Aspen, has the most beautiful temperament. She was so calm and patient while I cleaned her up and clipped away the matting.

Her skin seems quite hot and swollen so we will have the vet assess this.
Aspen & Cali are now booked in for their vaccinations. ♡︎

Some positive news.. 🌷

Winter has improved massively, both physically and mentally, in her foster placement. I think she is one of the few intakes with the quickest recovery time, considering how bad her condition was when she came in.

Winter, now named Bella, is beaming with love and binkies everyday.. ♡︎
Her foster mum [my sister] is set on keeping her too. I’m so pleased. ✨

Sweet little Cali is being showered with lots of love & TLC since arriving here.
She is emaciated and covered in lesions, having been caged with several larger males and deprived of basic care. 😔

At just 6 months old, Cali’s fragile, little body has already suffered two unsuccessful pregnancies at the hands of a careless, irresponsible breeder [who has stopped keeping pets now, to our relief].
Understandably, Cali was shut down and withdrawn on arrival.. but gradually she is coming out of her shell with gentle reassurance. Cali is on a high nutrition diet and her wounds are being treated to prevent infection.

Thanks to one of our regular supporters for funding transportation to make this rescue possible. ✨

Six months ago, Minnie was rescued from a life of guaranteed cruelty and suffering. She was destined to die in the scorching heatwave, her mother was literally cooking to death while pregnant, in a broken, filthy hutch with no food or water.

Look at her now.. ♡︎
Both Minnie, and her mother Rayne, are now thriving as free-roam indoor bunnies, with their loving new families. 🌹

Mouse is an adorable dwarf hamster, surrendered after her previous owners forgot to confirm with their landlord if pets are allowed..
She is in good condition but needs a cage upgrade asap.

Amazing turn around for Winter, after just 11 days with us.. ꨄ

Her first few days were nothing but syringe feeds around the clock. We could feel her bones, she was matted and lethargic. 😞
She was cleaned up, clipped, and we found multiple abrasions. These were disinfected and cleaned.
On day 2, antibiotics were introduced to treat her respiratory infection.
Day 7, she finally started expressing natural behaviours: cleaning herself, inquisitive, increased appetite.
Day 10 she made her first binky. ❄️

Winter now has the all clear from our vet. She is fully recovered from her infection, her abrasions have healed up nicely, and to everyone’s surprise, she has already gained enough weight that her bones are no longer prominent.

Winter will set off to her foster [possible permanent 🤞🏼] home later this week. 🐇

I kept this quiet as I was almost certain at least one of these failure-to-thrive babies were not going to make it, especially when the lighter male (Atreus) had concerning symptoms of hydrocephalus [fluid on the brain]. Both Atreus and his sister Faye are thriving and growing with each supplemental feed. They’re now being gently exposed to household noises to shape them into the perfect house rabbits.. ꨄ

Introducing Winter, a heartbreaking new intake 💔

She’s hardly 12 weeks old and was handed in this evening after being housed in a tiny carrier with soaking wet towels, freezing cold, unresponsive and lethargic. Thankfully she was surrendered just in time.. but Winter is very sick. She is malnourished and dehydrated with a suspected respiratory infection. She is now taking syringe fluids, Emeraid and Critical Care to regain her strength. With close monitoring, Winter will stay warm and cosy until her vet appointment tomorrow. ︎♡︎
If only breeders could thoroughly vet potential new owners, this suffering was entirely preventable 😞.

Beautiful Kiara was rescued today along with two of her offspring, Pandora & Charm, just in time before they were dumped somewhere by their previous owner. 💔

These rabbits were wasting away in awful conditions. Their bones are easily felt through the matting and fur loss. They were lethargic, coated in urine, these living conditions have caused sores and inflammation of their skin.

Wounds are spread across Kiara’s body, evident of fighting and breeding. And yes, she is pregnant again 💔
Kiara is the sweetest girl and surprisingly enjoys human touch. She was noticeably calmer the moment she left that stressful environment.

After some hours of settling in, our new additions are finally munching on their food and showing subtle signs of improvement.

We are still receiving floods of messages from people desperate to give away their unwanted rabbits. It breaks my heart to turn these poor pets away. I respect circumstances in life change, but there is noticeably little to NO effort made to keep the rabbits, to make things work out.

Messages received such as:
‘I’m pregnant/had a new baby’
‘My 4 year old lost interest’
‘Developed allergies’
‘New puppy doesn’t like the rabbit’
‘My work plans changed’
‘Moving away they urgently must go’

𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫.

As an allergy/asthma sufferer, someone who was recently homeless with few support networks and someone with reactive dog experience, I know it IS possible to make more effort to keep your pets.

My fosterers & I are prioritising emergency cases only (strays, malnourishment, threat to life/health etc).

𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥, 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞. ꨄ

Soon after rescuing her, it was quickly determined Celeste was not only pregnant but also her movement was seriously restricted due to her poor condition. Celeste suffers with respiratory distress because she’s a brachycephalic breed with a shortened snout. Rabbits with a shortened face have squashed noses and therefore have a reduced ability to cope with heat & stressful situations. Her symptoms were amplified from being morbidly overweight, pregnant, living in a stressful environment for so long, and the neglect she sustained in her previous home.

Sadly Celeste experienced a difficult birth and delivered two deceased kits soon after arriving.

I can’t find it in myself to ever part with this little lady, her welfare is my utmost priority & it would feel wrong to pass her onto someone else knowing she is very sensitive to stress not just physically but mentally, too.

I’m so pleased with the progress she has made here. Her breathing is noticeably clearer and slower, she is on a controller high quality diet, she exercises daily and she feels safe enough to interact with people and other pets now.. ♡︎

Her owners housed her in a tiny food crate outside after foxes managed to break into her hutch. As a result of this incident, this sweet 11 week old bunny is left only with 3 limbs - one is quite deformed.

This was entirely preventable if only her owners researched fox-proof enclosures and safety measures prior to keeping a pet rabbit outside. Protection from harsh weather conditions and predators is absolutely essential, ideally a fox-proofed shed with lights and/or an alarm system.

Foxes are not at fault for this. As humans have encroached on their habitat for so long, in cities they are often starving and with limited options to eat.

This beautiful girl still needs a name so I’m open to suggestions, her health check and vaccines are now booked in.

Massive thank you to the lady who runs Eileen's Animals she came to our aid when vets kept turning us away because they were at full capacity. 😞

This is deeply concerning, considering we are in the heart of London where these services should be readily available. Yet there are far too many patients, abuse, neglect and abandonment cases for vets to cope with, that they physically can not take on any more. Once again our rescued bunnies are paying the price for irresponsible over breeding. There are far too many animals and not enough vets 💔

Storm has recurring GI issues which he is now receiving more treatment for. Now on critical care and emeraid. The lovely lady of Eileen’s Animals has set up some appointments with her vet thankfully 🙏🏼 hopefully we can find the cause to treat him and prevent this from happening again.
